Okay Y/n, it's only a reading date with Chan - you can do this. I mentally prepared myself as I stood in front of Chan's house, he had invited me over earlier today and I just couldn't say no, though I'm not sure if he remembered my birthday, which is kinda sad.

I've never particularly enjoyed birthdays but since last year - when I spend it with my amazing new found friends - it changed. Minho, Jisung, Felix and Chan made me look at it from another point of view, birthdays were a day where you could just relax and chill with your friends - or your partner. You have an excuse to spoil someone with gifts and give them the best day ever, I could only hope that was what he was planning.

Honestly, I was going to spend today by myself - to just be at home and sleep - but now that I have the chance to spend it with Chan, I will take it. I took a deep breath before ringing the bell, before I could breath out again Chan had already opened the door. "Come in side, you must be freezing- it's so cold." Despite living in korea, Chan and I always spoke in english and I wasn't complaining - I like his accent. I walked inside as he held the door open, "thanks, it's really fresh." I chuckled as a way to hide my nervousness and took off my shoes before walking in completely and sitting on the couch - that was directly behind the door.. well maybe three steps or so away.

"How you doin'? Everythin' alright?" Chan asked as he sat down next to me, after making eye contact for only a second I immediately looked forward, now noticing the snacks and books on the coffee table. "I'm alright, I feel kinda cold though, should've dressed more- ..warm." I was caught off guard when Chan took me in his arms, "I'll help you!" he chuckled as he side hugged me, I have to admit I did feel warmer - but thats only because I was flustered. If only he knew I've had a crush on him ever since we started talking, I wonder if he would behave any different. "I'm already feeling better, thanks Chan." I smiled at him as his touch faded away, he leant into the couch when we heard something - or someone - fall. Confused and slightly scared i turned my head towards the noise, positioning my legs on the couch and my hands on the backrest - my eyes were looking straight to the kitchen. It seemed like Chan was nervous as he kept side eyeing me and playing with his hands, "Wha-" I was planning on asking him whats wrong, but stopped mid sentence when i heard three familiar voices. "Surprise!!"

Minho, Jisung and Felix had in fact decided to join us, with the explanation of this being a surprise party. Now don't get me wrong, I absolutely love these guys - but they're so loud - and for an introvert like me thats not very much an ideal trait and honestly speaking.. I was also a bit disappointed. I don't usually get the chance to be alone with Chan, most of the time we're in our small group and yeah, i'm rarely alone with anyone - which actually is nice, because i don't have to speak that much - but a reading date sounded so good..

"Y'all wanna drink something? I got wine." Of course Jisung would bring alcohol, I didn't expect anything else. "Sure, just not too much- a glass each? Ok?" "Hyung, we're fine. It's only 7%, I brought the one with the least alcohol." My seat mate for the night, Chan, made sure to check on me as Jisung began to speak, he gave me a questioning nod - raising his eyebrows a bit - while I gave him a smile in return. His body language was loud, his legs were pointed in my direction, his cheekbones could be seen and one arm was on the backrest also behind me, his whole body was pointed in my direction, tensed yet relaxed. it's really no joke - our bodies tend to react a certain way to certain things and he was at least a bit worried - it made me feel all warm inside.

The evening went by in the blink of an eye, Minho and Jisung were drunk as a stunk while Felix and I were almost completely sober, Chan - even though he said he dislikes alcohol - was at least tipsy. He drank more then I thought he would. "Lix, you're sober right? Bring Jisung and Min home, alright? I'll get going too." "Yeah, the two shouldn't be left alone. I'll get them home safe." Felix gave me a warm smile before going to the other two young adults - trying to get them off of each other and into the car - while I sat down on the couch, next to Chan, once again. "This seems to be our spot." I ironically said, trying to get a reaction out of Chan to see just how drunk he actually was. "Our spot?~ This? Why isn't my bed our spot?~" "Ch-Channie, I-I think you should get some rest, alright? I'll go now too." You can call it cliché all you want, but it still made my heart race - I had stood up and was about to go when Chan grabbed my hand and pulled me back down, directly next to him and looked me in the eyes, his head slightly swaying. "Stay. Just a little."

Somehow I ended up staying there a bit longer then anticipated, Felix and the other two were long gone while me and Chan were still comfortably talking in the living room - he had sobered up - at least somewhat. "Y/n..?" Chan broke the - short but still comfortable - silence, i responded with a simple hum and looked up from my fingers at him. I didn't know better but to think he was staring, ..it made me kinda shy. Once we made eye contact he almost immediately placed his hand on mine, "lets go on a real date next time."

everything feels so rushed, I should stick to writing more
