a/n: this is basically the bangchan x reader story but edited and with seungmin instead of the reader, so yeah, if it's familiar, it's bc of that

TW: Alcohol

Okay, Seungmin, it's only a reading date with Chan. You can do this, the brunette mentally prepared himself as he stood in front of said boy's house. The older had invited him over earlier that day and he just couldn't say no to him.

However, the brunette wasn't sure if he remembered his birthday, which really was sad.

The boy never particularly enjoyed birthdays but ever since last year—which he spent with his amazing newfound friends—it changed. Minho, Jisung, Felix and Chan made him look at it from a different point of view, birthdays were days when you could just relax and chill with your friends—partner, family, whatever. Days when you have an excuse to spoil someone with gifts and give them the best day ever. The boy could only hope that was what the older was planning.

Honestly speaking, he hoped to spend the day by himself—to just be at home and sleep—but when he had the chance to spend it with Chan, he took it without hesitating.

Seungmin inhaled sharply before ringing the doorbell and before he could even breathe out, the raven opened the door. "Come in, you must be freezing. It's so cold." He said with a welcoming smile plastered on his face, Oh how he loved that stupid smile on his lips.

"Thanks, it's really fresh." The brunette chuckled as a way to hide his nervousness and took off his shoes, before walking in completely and sitting on the couch—that was directly behind the door. . . or well, maybe three steps or so away.

"How you doin'? Everythin' alright?" Chan asked as he sat down next to the younger, after making eye contact for only a second the latter immediately looked forward, now noticing the snacks and books on the coffee table. "I'm alright, I feel kinda cold though, should've dressed more- ..warm."

He was caught off guard when Chan took him in his arms, "I'll help you!" He chuckled as he side-hugged the brunette. Seungmin had to admit, he did feel warmer—but that was only because he was beyond flustered. If only the raven knew the taller had a crush on him ever since they started talking, he wondered if he would've acted any different.

"I'm already feeling better, thanks Channie Hyung." Seungmin smiled at him as the other's touch faded away. He leaned into the couch when they suddenly heard something—or someone—fall. Confused and slightly scared Kim turned his head towards the noise, positioning his legs on the couch and hands on the backrest. His eyes were looking straight to the kitchen.

It seemed like Chan was nervous as he kept glancing at the younger and playing with his hands. "What's wro-" He was planning on asking him what was wrong but stopped mid-sentence when he heard three familiar voices yelling out, "Surprise!!"

Minho, Jisung and Felix had in fact decided to join the two, with the explanation of this being a surprise party. Now don't get him wrong, Seungmin absolutely loves these guys—they were some of his best friends—but they were just so loud and for an introvert like him that wasn't an ideal trait and honestly speaking. . . he was a bit disappointed.

The brunette didn't usually get the chance to be alone with Chan, most of the time they were in their small group of friends. He was rarely alone with anyone—which was nice because he didn't have to speak much—but a reading date with Chan sounded so good. . .

"Y'all wanna drink something? I got wine." Of course, Jisung would bring alcohol, no one expected anything else. "Sure, just not too much- a glass each? Ok?" "Hyung, we're fine. It's only 7 %, I brought the one with the least alcohol." The brunette's seatmate for the night, Chan, made sure to check on him as soon as Jisung began to speak. He gave him a questioning nod—raising his eyebrows a bit—as if asking if it was all alright.

Seungmin gave him a smile in return.

The ravenette's body language was loud, his legs were pointed in the youngest's direction, his cheekbones could be seen and one arm was on the backrest behind the just-mentioned boy. His whole body was pointed in Seungmin's direction, tensed yet relaxed. It's really no joke, your body tends to react a certain way to certain things and he was at least a bit worried. It made Kim feel all warm inside.

The evening went by in the blink of an eye, Minho and Jisung were drunk as a stunk while Felix and Seungmin were almost completely sober, Chan—even though he always said he dislikes alcohol—was at least a bit tipsy. He drank more than I thought he would.

"Lix, you're sober, right? Bring Jisung and Min Hyung home for me, 'kay? I'll get going too." "Yeah, the two shouldn't be left alone. I'll get them home safe." The blonde offered Seungmin a warm smile before going to the other two young adults—trying to get them off of each other and into the car—while the brunette sat down on the couch, next to Chan, once again.

"This seems to be our spot." He ironically said, trying to get a reaction out of Chan to see just how drunk he actually was. "Our spot?~ Why isn't my bed our spot?~" "Ch-Channie hyung, I-I think you should get some rest. I'll go now too." You can call it cliché all you want but the youngest's heart still raced when he stood up, getting ready to leave, and Chan grabbed his hand—pulling him back down, onto his lap.

The raven looked Seungmin in the eyes, his head slightly swaying. "Stay. Just a little."

Somehow he ended up staying there a bit longer than anticipated, Felix and the other two were long gone while the youngest and oldest of the group were still comfortably talking in the living room—Chan had sobered up, somewhat, after Seungmin gave him a glass of water.

"Seungminnie..?" He broke the—comfortable—silence, the called boy responded with a simple hum and looked up from his fingers. He didn't know better but to think the other was staring. . . it made him shy to just think about.

Once the two made eye contact Chan almost immediately placed his hand on the brunette's, "Let's go on a real date next time."
