"What's the plan?" Nick asked as we walked out the front doors.
"We're still going to the prison." I replied as we got into our trucks
"Where's Tyler?" Nick asked.
"He didn't make it." I said as I got in the truck, slamming the door.
I started the truck and put it in reverse and drove off. The rest of the group scrambled to get in their trucks and catch up with me and Heather. They eventually caught up with us I continued driving down the road, just staring straight ahead.
"Baby, you can talk to me, I'm here and I know you're not ok." Heather said to me
I took a deep breath, "I am unhappy, I lost a brother, we're running out of food, I keep telling myself we'll be fine but I'm slowly beginning to see that's a big pile of shit. We won't make it, we keep losing people, I seem to just guide us right into the face of danger so in reality I'm the one killing everone, I just make shitty choice after shitty choice after shitty choice and I keep fucking us over." I finally let my feelings out.
"Baby, it's ok, your not killing anyone, you're the best leader we could ask for. I hate that you feel that way but I'm glad you finally opened up and talked to me, you can't hold that in forever." She continued on, "I'll get a hold of Nick and ask him to drive the truck so you can get some rest and calm down, sound good?"
"I'd like that, and I didn't mean to yell at you. I just feel like shit." I replied
"I know baby." She said as she picked up the mic
"Nick, come in." Heather said.
"Hey whats up?" Nick replied.
"Can you drive Dylan's truck so he can get some rest?" Heather asked.
"Yeah, I got you brother." Nick said through the radio.
I pulled over and Nick stopped behind us and we switched vehicles, Nick driving my truck and Heather driving Nicks as I fell asleep in the passenger seat.
Heather continued driving, leading everyone to the destination. We continued down the road until we were stopped by another hoard of zombies in the road. We all got out and we were fighting for our lives but we didn't have enough fire power to fight them off without Tyler. The zombies continued closing in on us, until we were surrounded with only a few feet between us and the zombies. The zombies continued pushing foward until they finally reached us. I set my gun down and closed my eyes and waited for the zombies to start eating me but they didn't, I opened my eyes and looked around and every zombie had Tyler's face and they were killing everyone in the group. I watched my parents die, then Nick, then Tiffany and Tyler's parents and then they killed heather. The zombies left me untouched and they started walking towards me
"This is the end of the trail." I said as the zombies surrounded me but they still didn't eat me or even touch me. Instead they spoke like normal human beings
"You did this, you let Tyler die. You sent him off into a lab full of zombies to die, This is you're doing. We won't kill you, we're going to let you live knowing you killed everyone you've ever loved."
The zombies finished talking and turned into dust flying off in the wind.
"They're right, this is my fault." I cried to myself as I dropped to my knees. I reached over for my gun and grabbed it putting the barrel in my mouth. I sat there shaking with tears running down my face. I wanted to pull the trigger but I couldn't
I jolted awake screaming, "COME BACK, JUST KILL ME ALREADY."
"Bad dream?" Heather asked me.
"Yeah, the zombies killed all you guys and they left me alone and told me Tyler's death was my fault." I replied.
"Baby it was not your fault." Heather said to me.
"I know. It just feels like I could've prevented it." I replied
We continued riding down the highway. We now only had about a hour left until we reached our destination. The ground began shaking again
"FUCK." I shouted.
I picked up the mic. "The ground is shaking, we got a juggernaugt or a army of zombies coming in."
We sped up flying down the highway, until I saw a exit that read "Eagle Cliff Tourist Attraction", I picked up the mic again, "Nick switch vehicles, I have a plan.
We pulled over and switched vehicles as fast as possible. As I was getting in the truck I looked back and saw the biggest hoard of zomies we've experiences so far. There was thousands of them
