Atsumu and Sakusa arrived at the Miya twins' home. Atsumu unlocked the door and Sakusa gave him an encouraging smile when he hesitated to open the door.

When he did open the door, he was met with the sight of a desheveled Osamu, looking absolutely livid when his eyes settled on Atsumu. The blonde flinched under his brother's gaze as his own hit the floor, not wanting to make eye-contact.

Osamu stood up and made his way over to Atsumu while Sakusa closed the door and locked it.

"Where the hell were ya?" Osamu asked lowly.

Atsumu flinched, his eyes squeezed closed, "Komori's..." He whispered.

"An' ya didn't think to tell yer brother that ya were gonna stay the night?" Osamu pressed.

From Sakusa's vantage point behind Atsumu, he could see the tears beginning to pool in the blonde's eyes, which we were still trained on the ground.

"I fell asleep," Atsumu replied shakily.

"But ya couldn't think to tell Komori to text me?? I had to ask Kuroo where ya were!!" Osamu snapped, and Atsumu flinched again.

Now, Sakusa thought, it was time to step in.

"Ya can't jus' do what ya want! Answer me, Tsumu–"

"Hey," Sakusa said, drawing Osamu's attention as he gently pulled Atsumu behind him, "He was doing us a favor by helping us out with our project," he explained lowly, putting emphasis on the words 'us' and 'our', "The message to you slipped our minds. So don't get all in his face with that angry front when we both know that you were probably borderlining a panic attack wondering where he was."

Osamu's eyes widened, and Sakusa could feel Atsumu's grip on the back of his t-shirt tighten. He really should have told Atsumu to go upstairs but he needed to hear this.

Osamu was silent and Sakusa only pressed on, "You said it yourself, he's a bit of an adrenaline junky. You see his and his friends' posts on Instagram and you get worried – worried that one day he'll slip up and not come home ever," Sakusa clenched his jaw and Osamu sucked in a sharp breath, "But you don't realize that he can take care of himself, and that if anything ever happens – which I doubt anything will – his friends are right there to help him."

Osamu stood there, rigid, and Sakusa merely turned his back on him to look at Atsumu. He quickly laid a reassuring hand on his head and ruffled his hair before he leaned down to whisper in his ear.

"Go upstairs and take a shower to get your mind off this," he directed, leaving no room for argument, "I need to talk to your brother."

Atsumu inhaled sharply as his cheeks flooded with red and he nodded quickly before making his way up the stairs on shaky legs and weak knees just from the way Sakusa spoke to him.

"What the fuck was that?" Osamu hissed from behind him.

Sakusa chuckled lowly as he turned to look at Osamu, "I know you, Samu. You've been my best friend since fucking second year nationals," he pointed, "You're scared of losing Atsumu, aren't you? You spend so little time with him nowadays that the thought of losing him through one of his hobbies terrifies you... So instead of talking to him about it, you get all angry with him, because after losing your mom and seeing Atsumu suffer through your dad, you can't bring yourself to take away his happiness by asking him to not do what he loves and spend time with you instead."

Sakusa let his words sit in the air that was thick with tension as he glared at Osamu, and by the look in his face, Sakusa had hit the nail right in the head.

Osamu clenched his fists and looked away, "I jus' wanna protect him," he said bitterly.

Sakusa narrowed his eyes, "Open your eyes, Osamu," he ordered, his voice slightly softer, "He doesn't need protection anymore. He can take care of himself."

Osamu moved over to the couch and sat down heavily, "I never protected him when we were younger," he admitted suddenly, "I was too scared to do anythin' to stand up against our father an' I hate myself for it... I-I jus' wish I could've done somethin' for him back then..."

Osamu hung his head and hunched his shoulders, leaning on his knees with his elbows. Sakusa sighed and sat down next to him, leaning back into the couch.

"He may not need your protection now, but you're still his brother, and he needs your support," Sakusa spoke up, his voice devoid of the harsh tone it had taken on earlier.

Osamu chuckled bitterly, "It's jus'- Sometimes it feels like he doesn't even need me anymore..."

Sakusa sighed, "We both know that's not true. You're twins – you'll always need each other."

Osamu let out a humorless huff of laughter, "I guess yer right, Kiyo..."

"When am I not?" Sakusa replied smugly to create light of the conversation.

Osamu laughed, "Yeah, yeah, whatever..." He was quiet for a moment, "I should go apologize..."

Sakusa hummed, "Yeah, you should, but not now. Give him his space. I'll go check up on him in a little bit, but, for now, both of you just need to cool down."

Osamu nodded, "Thanks, man... For reasonin' with me, an' for lookin' out for Tsumu."

Sakusa smiled, "Hey, what's a best friend for?"

Osamu laughed again and sat back against the couch to stare at the ceiling. It was quiet for a moment or two before Osamu spoke up again.

"Hey, Kiyo?" He called, still staring blankly at the ceiling, "Can I ask ya somethin'?"

Sakusa hummed, also staring up at the oh-so-interesting ceiling, "Yeah?" He answered, wondering what Osamu was going to ask.

There was another moment of silence, as if Osamu was contemplating whether to ask his question or not, but eventually he did.

"Are ya in love with my brother?" He asked, though it sounded like he already knew what the answer was, and Sakusa froze in his seat.
