CHAPTER 13

I fidget with my house keys as I dry eye stare at Saxlon's lifeless body laying down on the white bed, an white oxygen mask on his mouth.

Atleast the nurses cleaned the blood on him.

"He's not answering." Mom snaps beside me at her samsung, a big frown on her face as she dials Saxlon's step father's number for the sixth time.

"Maybe he's asleep?" I mumble softly under my breath, keeping my breathing steady as I continue to stare at Saxlon's flawless body that was under the sheets.

"I don't care, he better pick up soon or I'm calling the police on him." Mom raises her voice, a hint of annoyance and anger in her tone.

"Mom!" I manage to make a gasp, "the poor father probably doesn't even know what happened, don't come to conclusion."

Just then, a tall young tanned doctor enters the room with a blue clipboard in his hand. His light green eyes, staring into my mom's hazel eyes.

Mom and I stand up, handshaking the doctor with a small smile.

"Hello." The doctor greets, staring at my mother and me with a tight smile, "just to clarify, you two are family to this young man, am I correct?"

"Foster family." Mom answers politely.

"Oh, I see." The doctor scans his paper on his clipboard, a smile apologically smile on his face as he looks up to us, "I'm afraid I can not discuss you this information then."

"Pardon?" I speak up, my hands on my hips as I angrily glare at him.

"I'm sorry," he sadly smiles , "but I can only discuss these type of information with the blood related-"

"Thats impossible then." Mom's voice goes high pitch, "his blood relatives, are not at all stabled to hear and discuss information regarding him."

"Oh." He mutters, writing something on the paper with his red pen, "okay."

A few secounds past, none of us spoked, until I finally got the courage to speak out.

"Can we please know what is going on? Though we aren't blood related, he is apart of our family now." I pleaded, a small hopeful smile on my face, "please?"

The male doctor stays quiet, staring at his clip board with an unsure expression.

"I'm sorry, but this information is too private for you both to know," he pauses, a little smile forming on his face, "but, he is now fine, he has lost a fair few of blood, so we need to restore him." Mom and I breath out, relief that he is okay.

"But," he stares at his golden watch, then looking back at us, "he will need to stay overnight. I suggest you both go home and rest. Come here tomorrow in the morning."

Mom scrtaches her arms, a little yawn escaping her lips, "well - I guess that is the right thing to do. Thank you doctor. " She grabs my hands to move me with her, but I stay put.

"Valentina." Mom hisses, "come on."

"C-can I stay here overnight?" I pout my lips and widen my eyes, "pretty please?"

"I don't think that's possible." Mom softly stares at me, grabbing my chin, "besides, home feels nicer."

"Yes, home's nicer." I nod in agreement, "that's why Saxlon shouldn't stay here alone."

Before mom opens her mouth, I point at Saxlon while staring deep into her eyes, "he shouldn't be alone in a place that doesn't feel like home. That's not fair."

I stop pointing and slightly raise my voice, "that's not fair at all."

"Alright alright." Mom lets out another yawn, turning her head to the doctor who was busy scribbling something on his paper. "Doctor, may my daughter stay here, until the morning?"

Without looking up, he nods his head slowely.

"Great." I clutch my hands together, happily staring at my beautiful mom, "you can go mom, I'll be fine."

"Are you sure? "

"Yes." I wrap my arms around her, giving her a very tight hug, "I love you."

"I love you more." Mom kisses my head softly, "I'll be back in the morning."

"Okay."

Mom let's go of me and exists the room, the doctor going after her.

"Well," I turn to Saxlon's bed, walking forward to him, "it's just you and me now." I sit down on his bed, making sure to not wake him up.

I softly trail my fingers to his face, avoiding touching the oxygen mask.

"You're so-" I stare at his close eyes, admiring his long brown lashes.

"Beautiful." I breath out, sliding some of his hair away from his eyes, "you're also very-"

I softly press my lips against his bruised red marked cheek, "Brave."

My hands smoothly trails to his arm, softly stroking his cuts that were slowely healing.

"You're strong." I gently whisper, "so strong."

I wait a few seconds, then slowely, I stroke his white silky hair.

"I'm sorry." I close my eyes, still stroking his soft hair gently, " I was too much focused on noticing your bad qualities, to notice your good ones."

I stop stroking, opening my eyes and staring at his face,

"Is this what others do to you? They look at your imperfections instead of your perfections?"

My two hands carelessly slide under Saxlon's grey shirt, gently touching the cuts and wounds that were around his chest.

"I don't know you very well," my tone softening, "when I heard you swear and when I heard you yell, " I take my hands off and place them on my lap, "I thought you were someone who wasn't all that good."

I look up to the white ceiling, "I thought you carried lots of evil, I thought you were a nightmare."

A small smile plays on my lips as I look back down at him, "but now, as I'm staring at you, you're not carrying evil."

I softly chuckle, " and you're not a nightmare."

I stroke his hair and close my eyes, the smile still playing on my lips as I add up to my conclusion.

"You're just a daydream, dressed like a nightmare."
