Lisa had a fishing rod in her hand when she went up to go on Irene's house. She will asked the older lady to catch a fish with her on the other side of the river.
She was a humming a song that her mom used to sing for her when she was a toddler. Today, she had mark it as a happy day, despite of the volunteers scattered everywhere.
Once she reached the house that took less than five minutes from her home, she heard some unfamiliar voices. The kid was quickly alarmed, who might it be?
"Please eat some bread. My wife will brew some tea for everyone." Lisa heard Irene's father's said.
"Thank you for the warm welcome, sir." A man said.
Lisa can't bear the curiosity anymore and she made her presence known. She saw Yeri smiling wildly while staring at certain direction. The volunteer that asked for Irene's number and Irene were sitting beside each other.
The kid didn't know why, but she doesn't like what she sees.
"Good morning everyone." Lisa greeted the people inside the house. Irene quickly gave her a small smile. Irene's mother quickly offered Lisa a seat beside Yeri.
"Seat there, I'll give you some tea as well." Her aunt whispered and Lisa nodded her head.
"What are they doing here?" Lisa whispered to Yeri.
"That guy likes my unnie." Yeri said, not answering Lisa's question.
"Is that so? Did Irene unnie like him too?" Lisa whispered back.
"I think yes? Look at her, she's red." Yeri said and pointed at her sister discreetly.
"Oh, okay." Lisa didn't say anything after that. She chose to listen.
"What were you talking about the foster parents and scholarship?" Her father asked again.
"About that Sir, a group of individual from different universities and lower level will go up here to offer scholarship at the City. Moreover, foster parents who want to adopt children will pay a visit, in case-" Jackson was cut off.
"None of my children will get adopted." Her father said firmly.
"No offense, Sir. Only if the parents will voluntary agree, of course, to give a chance for their child to have a better education and living." Jackson politely continued, rubbing off the painful truth on these people.
"Will Lisa be included? She had no parents?" Her mother asked as she pour some tea.
"This kid? I can put her on the list." Lisa remembered his name, it was Namjoon.
"Don't you dare." Irene quickly said.
"Why Irene? Lisa can have a better chance outside this village." Her mother confusedly said.
"We already talk about this. I will leave the village and work at the City then Lisa will take my bed." Irene said alarmed. She doesn't know but she was fuming mad.
"Yes but that was prior to this information. Irene, she is not your own kid. You're just a decade old to her. You can't decide for her." Her mother said.
"And neither can you eomeoni." Irene said and she took Lisa's hand. They marched outside the house.
The people were too surprised to stop them. Irene runaway with Lisa as far as she could until their feet brought them at the riverside.
