"Joy, have you read the contract from Principal Wang?" Irene asked while typing some presentation for her class.
"Not yet. I don't think I receive anything." Joy asked curiously.
"Really? I thought everyone got it." Irene furrowed her eyebrows.
"Now I am curious, is it a love letter?" Joy teased her.
"No. I'm pretty sure it was from City Division." Irene started looking at the folder from the pile of files on her desk.
"Here-"
"Let me read it for you." Joy offered. Irene handed her the folder.
Joy read it out loud for Irene. It was about a trusted endorsement made by Principal Wang for the vacant position at the City for the Department of Education. That the head of the department was looking forward on Irene's application and will give prioritise for her to the interview because of her achievements and because of Wang's recommendation.
Irene's eyes bulged out. City? At the Department of Education? It means a higher salary!
"Girl, did you hear me?" Joy asked unbelievably.
"Y-yes. I couldn't believe it." Irene said.
"What are you waiting for? Grab it!" Joy encouraged her friend. This kind of opportunity will never land again on her palms.
"It's really a life changing opportunity, but I have other things to consider." Irene tries to calm herself.
"What else? It's for Yeri and Uncle. They will understand it." Joy comforted her.
"Lisa. I don't think-"
"Is there something that I don't know about you and Lisa?" Joy asked her friend.
"Are you dating?" Joy added.
"N-no. Yes. I was about to tell you, but I was afraid of-"
"Irene. Seriously, you won't receive any judgement from me. I know from your stories how much you love her when you were younger, even if it's as a family way back then. You parted ways. Lisa grew up. She came back. You fell inlove with each other." Joy explained. Irene looked at her with ease.
"You don't find it weird?"
"Not at all! You didn't force yourself. For all I know, Lisa must be in love with you from the very beginning. You know, puppy love that turns into great love. Something like that." Joy shrugged.
Seeing how Joy was supportive of her situation, Irene gave her bestfriend a small smile.
"Loosened up, Irene. This is just another women love women kind of story and not a crime documentary!" Joy rolled her eyes.
"Besides, younger lovers are common nowadays."
Irene heaved a sigh. She's glad that Joy was fine with her relationship with Lisa. Now, there's only one problem. How will Lisa take if she'll inform her about living the mountains for the City?
"We didn't even start dating properly, and you're saying that I will not see you often?" Lisa slowly asked. Irene couldn't take it anymore. The opportunity might be gone if she will not decide soon.
"City Division is on the central part of the City. It takes four hours one way to get there. I'm going home every Friday night." Irene blabber her compromise.
"You can sleepover here in my room during weekends. I just really have to rent an apartment at the City for weekdays, Lisa." Irene couldn't read Lisa's reaction.
