Allison had been friends with Emily for years, but she had never really given much thought to Emily's Older brother, Ethan. Sure, she had seen him around the house on occasion and yeah met him once for dinner around Emily's house but they never spoke again after that, cause he was always busy with his own things and she was busy with hers.
That all changed one summer afternoon when Allison found herself alone with Ethan at the community pool. Emily had begged off, citing a headache, leaving Allison and Ethan to their own devices.
As they splashed around in the cool water, Allison found herself drawn to Ethan's easygoing manner and infectious laugh. They talked about everything and nothing, and before she knew it, hours had passed.
Over the next few weeks, Allison and Ethan spent more and more time together. They went on hikes, played board games, and stayed up late watching movies. Allison found herself looking forward to their time together, and she couldn't help but wonder if there was something more there.
One evening, as they sat on Emily's back porch, watching the stars twinkle in the night sky, Allison took a deep breath and asked Ethan if he felt the same way she did. To her surprise, he did.
They started dating soon after, and Allison was over the moon. She never would have guessed that Emily's Older brother could be the one she had been waiting for all along.
As the summer drew to a close and Allison prepared to leave for college, she knew that saying goodbye to Ethan would be one of the hardest things she had ever done. But as they hugged each other tightly, she also knew that their love would endure.
