It was Monday, and the beginning of Y/N's second year at Hope County High School. As he sat in the class, his brain on auto pilot as he took notes, he looked out of the window at the beautiful Montana scenery in the distance.
"Mr L/N. Pay attention please."
"Yes sir, sorry sir." Y/N said as he was snapped out of his thoughts, he turned to look at the front of the class when the teacher spoke again.
"Now, we will be getting a new student tomorrow. Some of you might already know her from outside of class, some of you might not." The teacher said as Y/N looked at him.
"Sir?" Y/N asked as he raised his hand.
"Yes Y/N, what is it?"
"Do you know who the knew girl is?" Y/N asked as the teacher looked at him.
"No, but she's sitting in the empty seat next to you." The teacher said as Y/N nodded.
"Understood." Y/N said as he went back to working. The bell rang and the teacher was one of the first by the door as he shoed his student out.
The Next day:
Y/N was once again in class when the Teacher spoke.
"Now, everyone, please welcome the newest member of the class, Rachel Jessop." The teacher said as a girl walked through the door, followed by murmurs. She looked shy as she waved timidly to the class.
"Sir, why do we have to have her in the class?" A student asked as Y/N looked at the student who spoke.
"Silence. Rachel, you're sat next to Y/N, L/N, raise your hand so Rachel knows where you are."
Y/N raised his hand and Rachel approached, coming over to sit next to him.
"Hi." She said quietly, in a timid voice.
"Hi." Y/N said as he looked at her. Nothing about her seemed odd enough to explain the murmurs. "So you uh, need anything, pen or paper?"
"No thank you." The girl said as Y/N smiled and nodded, some students were looking at Y/N with distaste some were back to listening at the front of the class.
As the teacher droned on Y/N and Rachel spoke amongst themselves.
"How's the rest of your day been?" Y/N asked as Rachel looked at him.
"Pretty good. What about yours?"
"Pretty good. So, um, what do you like to do outside of school?"
"Why do you ask?" Rachel asked as Y/N looked at her.
"I figure, we're sat next to each other, might help if we knew a bit about what each other likes, help make conversation easier." Y/N said as Rachel nodded.
"Right, um well...I like singing, and I like to study flowers." Rachel said as Y/N gave a hum. "What about you?"
"Well I like reading, you can't go wrong with a good book, I um, I like studying wildlife, and I'm a bit embarrassed at the last one." Y/N said with an awkward chuckle.
"Come on, promise, I won't tell anyone, and I promise not to laugh."
"I'm pretty fond of singing while playing guitar." Y/N said as Rachel smiled. "You said you wouldn't laugh."
"I'm not laughing at you, at least not like that. Just...I can imagine you on your porch with a little Stetson hat, a guitar, and singing Johnny Cash."
Y/N chuckled to himself as the bell rang out.
Y/N was packing his things up as Rachel went left the class. He didn't understand why people were so spiteful towards her. As he finished packing he put his bag over his shoulders and stepped outside, where he found a commotion.
"Careful Junkie! Have you got your high today!" The school bully said, their name was Nate Greene. He stood at around 6'7 and was built like an outhouse, he was on the school sports team and he was the school aficionado in being a cunt. "Why'd you have to move into our class, why don't your parents put you in rehab, oh wait, they don't care and wish you were dea-"
"Greene, the hell's going on?"
"Back of L/N, this isn't any of your business, besides, you really standing up for this junkie-"
"What Rachel does or doesn't do outside of school is none of your business, it has no bearing on your life. And don't act like you've never taken drugs before, we both know about those roids you take, and judging by you exes description of your performance, I'd say the rumours about them shrinking your dick is true." Y/N said coldly as he looked up, staring the bully in the eyes.
"The fuck did you just say to me."
"Didn't understand? Too many syllables? Fuck off shrimp dick!" Y/N snarled as he squared up to the bully. Greene backed away.
"Fuck this." Greene muttered to himself as he left.
"Are you okay?" Y/N asked as he turned to Rachel who was muttering to herself.
"I really am trying to quit, I am, I am, every time I get close, I relapse, but I'm trying to sto-"
"You're trying, that's the best anyone can do." Y/N said as he put his hands on Rachels shoulders. "Cunts like him don't help either."
"Rachel? What's up? What happened?"
"Greene started picking on her. I caught a bit of it but I don't know the whole story yet. You're Tracy right? You're her friend?" Y/N asked as Tracy nodded.
"Seems like you're he friend now as well." Tracy said as Y/N looked at Rachel sobbing into his shoulder.
"I'm here. I'm here if you need me." Y/N said as Rachel nodded into him.
10 years Later:
"Get down!" Y/N cried out as the grenade went off. The explosion sent the helicopter spiralling out of the sky and crashing to the ground...
