Y/N and Hudson were in the squad car on their way into the Henbane River region. Y/N had the cult music on earning some side eye from Hudson.

"Why do you listen to this?"

"because they communicate on this radio every now and then, besides, say what you want, but they can sing." Y/N said as they crossed the bridge.

"So, you wanna tell me exactly what happened when he captured you and brought Rachel in?"

"He carved a word onto the inside of both of her thighs." Y/N said as he looked at the road. "I um...I served with Jacob. He was like my brother over there. We fought together, bled together, went through the hell of Iraq together. I just...I can't put together why he'd do this knowing how much I love her."

"Some people, just ain't right in the head Y/N. There's no rhyme or reason, they just ain't right in the head."

"Joey, this man carried me out of a burning building, and held off for an hour against Mujahedeen forces before evac arrived. If he's crazy now, he sure as shit wasn't back then." Y/N said as Hudson looked at him.

They arrived at Hope County jail and stepped out of the car where they were welcomed by Sheriff Whitehorse.

"Sheriff L/N, Deputy Hudson. Shit am I glad to see you both. We got a missing patrol up at a water treatment plant. I want you both to check it out, stop them lacing the water with bliss if you can, but if there are any, the hostages are top priority." Whitehorse said as Y/N nodded. "Sheriff...good job on getting Hudson out and killing that son of a bitch John."

"Yeah." Y/N said as he got back in the car, getting into the passengers seat as Hudson got into the drivers seat.

As they drove through the countryside, Y/N looked out of the window silently, deep in thought as he remembered back in his school days.

"Come on Tracy don't give me that bullshit, you're the one who's pushing her into coming with you, telling her you need a lift she's not your damn piggy bank." Y/N snapped at Tracy who looked offended.

"That's rich coming from you, but I guess you're tryin to put something other than money in a slot with her huh?"

"You're killin' her with that crap!" Y/N whisper shouted as Tracy shook her head.

"I never made her take it-"

"No, but you're just as guilty, you know she wants to stop but you're too scared of losing your drug money so you keep her hooked."

"Excuse me-"

"I've excused you just about enough. You take Rachel anywhere near drugs again, and you're gonna need some drugs for the pain."

"What you'd hit a girl? We both know you haven't got it in you."

"If they're actively a threat to my friends life, I'm an equal opportunity ass kicker." Y/N said as he glared at her.

"You haven't got the guts to tell her how you feel, as if you have the guts to hit a woman." Tracy said as Y/N chuckled.

"You know what. Fine you wanna keep killing yourself Tracy, that's your choice, but don't go dragging  anyone else and especially not Rachel down with you." Y/N said as he stormed off.

"Rook? You alright?" Hudson asked as Y/N nodded.

"Yeah. Just...thinking about schooldays. I should have told her there and then that I love her." Y/N said as Joey looked at him. "Maybe if I had she wouldn't have gone back to the drugs and then rehab, she wouldn't have been so vulnerable to Joseph. How many people has joseph forced her to hurt because of my cowardice-"

"Hey! None of this is on you. Don't do that to yourself." Hudson said as Y/N looked at her. "Get some sleep, we've got a while before we arrive at the plant, want you fresh and ready for the fight."

"Fine. Wake me when we're three miles out." Y/N said as he rested in his seat, closing his eyes and falling to sleep for the first time properly in a good few days...
