it didn't feel real.

it doesn't feel real.

am i actually in the grabbers basement right now or am i dreaming?

i opened my eyes, receiving my answer.

im not dreaming.

vance laid asleep next to me. he looked so peaceful. i felt extremely guilty, i mean, i feel like if i did run like vance wanted me to, i could of gotten help but i didn't run, i allowed the grabber to take me.

i got up and decided to explore the room a little more. the window that showed a tiny bit of light was covered by bars. the door was locked.

i then got an idea.

"SOMEONE HELP!" i screamed, praying someone would hear, "PLEASE!"

"shut the fuck up!" vance yelled, rolling on his side on the uncomfortable mattress.

"what's your deal?" i asked, taking a seat on the mattress again, "i thought we were fine."

"you're the stupid bitch who didn't run." was all he said before going back to sleep.

"fuck you." i mumbled, laying back down, my back facing him.

i don't get why he's so mad. did he really think i would leave him?

suddenly something happened that i would never have expected to happen, the black phone rang.

RING RING

am i going crazy?

is he hearing this too?

i glanced over at vance but he was sound asleep. i sat up and grabbed the phone, holding it up against my ear, "hello? is someone there?" i looked back at vance who was awake now, staring at me, weirdly.

"allison."

said a voice from the other side. my eyes widened as i tried to figure out if i was losing it or not, "hello?" i asked again.

"don't hang up," the voice said, "is it you allison?"

i nodded but realized the voice or person could see me, "yeah it's me, who's this?"

"i don't know. i don't remember my name."

i stayed silent, trying to figure out the face of this voice that sounded so familiar to me. i know this person, i haven't heard this voice in weeks.

my heart broke the moment i realized who it was, "bruce?" i choked out.

"y-yeah. bruce. uh im bruce. we kissed, i remember. the day i was taken. finns arm is mint and he almost had me."

my eyes began tearing up as i heard the voice of my best friend/the boy i was in love with, "im sorry. im sorry for all of it, bruce."

i heard him laugh, oh how i missed that laugh, "don't be sorry. i just hope you didn't think i stood you up."

it was my turn to laugh, "i did but i regret being mad. i wish i biked home with you. i wish i hung out with you that day. i wish-"

bruce cut me off, "allie, stop. this isn't your fault. none of this is your fault."

"who the fuck are you talking to?" vance asked, joining my side as i talked to bruce, trying not to start crying.

"shhh." i hushed him which made him roll his eyes.

".....are they with you?" i paused, feeling the tears roll down my cheeks, "danny and robin?"

"yeah. they're here. with me."

i closed my eyes and let it all out.
they're dead. why them?

"please don't cry."

"im not crying." i wiped the tears away.

"i can see you crying, allie."

i looked over, thinking i'd see him but he wasn't there, "you cant see me."

"oh."

"did the phone ring for you?" i asked him.

"it rang. but none of us heard it. just you guys. the grabber hears the phone too but he doesn't want to believe it."

i didn't respond. vance and i just share eye contact as he tries to understand how the phone is working and how i'm talking to bruce.

"allie?"

"yeah?"

"there's a dirt section of the floor in the hallway where the tile is loose," i looked toward the hallway, "okay." i answered.

"dig down underneath the foundation. i tried but there wasn't enough time for me to dig up and out the other side."

hearing him say he didn't have enough time made my heart shatter more.

"will we have enough time?"

all i heard was static.

"bruce? bruce?!"

the phone call ended and i hung the phone back up.

"so what the shit was that all about?" vance asked, extremely confused.

"that was bruce."

"bruce yamada? your dead boyfriend?"

i slapped his arm, "shut up. he gave me a way for us to try and escape. come." i grabbed his arm and dragged him over to the hallway.

"he said he tried digging his way out but didn't have enough time."

i kneeled down and felt for a loose tile, vance did the same. he found it and tugged on it, the piece pulling apart.

the two of us began to pull apart the pieces of the floor until we finally reached dirt.

then, we dug. we dug for a while and i really was getting tired. vance didn't want to stop. we flushed the dirt down the toilet as we dug.

finally, after about 30 minutes, we grew tired and decided to take a break.

vance helped me cover the hole with a rug and we laid down.

i wasn't sure if vance had fallen asleep because i was asleep within seconds.
