You knocked gently on Warrick's door, so as to keep from startling the two Endermen inside.
He opened the door and smiled gently. "Oh goodness, what's with the tears?"
Aodh sniffled. "I miss Mema..." He held his arms out, begging for Warrick to hold him instead.
Warrick gently took him from you. "Goodness. Well, come in then, but don't tackle Elianore. He isn't feeling well."
Clara followed you in, barely giving Elianore a second glance.
"Hey kiddo, what's with the face?" Elianore wasn't going to let it fly.
She looked up at him and then looked away again. "(Y/n) said you might not be able to go to the Fierre."
"Aw, kiddo." He smiled. "I'm gonna try my best to make it."
"It's okay. I know you don't like parties."
"No, I don't. But I like you. And I want to be there if it's important to you." He slid off the couch onto his knees, so he could be a little closer to her eye level. "Come here."
You could feel Nathaniel hanging over your shoulder, watching Elianore interact with Clara.
She slowly walked over to him.
"Now, kiddo, can you be real honest with me for a minute?"
"Yeah?"
"Are you really this upset about me or is there something else going on?"
"I'm not that upset. I'm okay."
He was quiet for a moment, staring her right in the face. Finally, he reached up and pulled his bandanna down to show his face. "Hey, kiddo, you see these nasty scars on my face?"
"Yeah."
"You know I cried when I got them, right?"
"No, you didn't."
"I did too. Cried like a big baby. And I cried while (Y/n) was patching this big one up for me. They can tell you."
You smiled. "He did. Big ol' baby tears."
"But you're strong! There's no way you cried over that!"
"I did. And I cried for every friend of mine that has died. I cried when I broke my boots. I cry whenever I have nightmares. I cry a lot, actually. I think I cried just last night."
She broke eye contact, and Elianore gently cupped her face in his hand. "It's okay to be upset, Clara, and I don't want you to lie to me if you are."
She folded her arms. "I've gotta be strong for Aodh! I'm old enough to keep it together."
Warrick's face fell.
Elianore smiled. "You know, strong people need to be weak sometimes too."
"Not you."
"I do. I just told you how much I cry over little things. It's okay, Clara. You can cry. I'll keep it together for you, okay?"
She hesitated still, but only for a moment before she flung herself forward to bawl into his arms. For a moment, the only sound was Clara's crying.
Finally, she began to sputter it out. "I miss my mom! I miss my home! I keep having nightmares about the pillagers!" She sniffled. "I just wanted Mema to walk me at the Fierre but now she can't, and I wanted you to be there but now you can't!" She sobbed.
"Hey, kiddo," he took her face in his hands and pressed his forehead to hers, "I will do everything I can to be there for you. I promise."
"Okay." She mumbled and started wiping her eyes.
