Elianore paused. It had been so long. It had been so much. Over a year since he'd first set foot in this world. More than half of that spent with this player...with you.
"Oh, if you'd told me back then, I would've laughed." He chuckled.
He was, in some way, a different person than that kid who had first stepped through the portal. He was stronger, in some ways. Weaker in others. Somewhere along the way, he'd let his guard down.
It was you. You, the weakest player he'd ever had the pleasure of meeting, had looked him in the face and not been scared. Rather than breaking his walls down, you'd stood at the gate and waited for him to let you in himself. Ettastria, who took to him like a mother to her child. And then there was Clara, who wouldn't take fear as an excuse, and ran at him wholeheartedly. Lynovu, always the shy one, carefully approaching only as close as he felt safe. Warrick, more happy to see his daughter than he was afraid of a monster, and Aodh right beside him. Emila, who wore the same scars he did, and Exceed, just a kid trying to survive. Elan, with his heart too big, too broken, to care about what Elianore could do.
He took a breath. The portal was directly beneath him. He couldn't miss.
Well, correction, it was him. He could absolutely miss.
He was about to teleport when something grabbed the back of his shirt.
Panic shot through him as he was yanked back into the trees and a hand slapped over his mouth.
"Shh! Sh!" Erilian flipped him around and shoved him against a tree. "Sh!" He moved his hand.
"Erilian?!"
"Shh!" Erilian snapped and slapped his hand back over Elianore's mouth. "What part of sh don't you understand?" He whisper-yelled.
Elianore relaxed, now that he knew he wasn't in danger. Erilian's hand moved again. "What are you doing?" He whispered this time.
"Are you going to the portal?"
"Yes? Duh?"
"Don't!"
"What?"
"Do! Not! Do not!"
"Why not?"
"A message came through just before the sun set, a wanted poster with your face on it!"
"What?"
"I think every overworlder is down there waiting to jump you, they're going to kill you and claim the reward!"
"What--why?!"
"I don't know why! It just says you're wanted, preferably alive but I don't Draconia would care much if you were dead either."
"I didn't do anything!"
"Uh, hello? Your little player friend?"
"How would she know about that?"
"I don't know! But you need to get out of here before someone figures out you're here!"
Elianore glanced over his shoulder. "But--"
--"No buts, you stupid loyalist!" Erilian hissed. "For your own safety, get out of here!"
Elianore glanced back at Erilian just in time to catch the desperation in his eyes.
"Please!"
He hesitated for just a second longer, before catching the scent of another Enderman.
"Go, now!"
He teleported, aiming for as far away as he could get.
He'd never been convinced he could take Erilian's word. But the look on his face, the sheer panic and desperation...
Elianore knew the feeling well. The feeling of knowing someone you cared about was in danger and you couldn't do anything.
Which brought about a new problem. He was in danger. There were Endermen after him. They'd be after you too. He didn't have time to think about whether or not Erilian was lying.
He had to get home.

A/n: Well, well, well, look who's back...
That's right folks, your favorite angst author with 200 more potential chapters of 99% hurt and 1% comfort.
Now, if you're new here, I strongly recommend going back and reading Eyes of Violet first, as none of this is going to make sense without it.
If you're not new, here's some quick updates and changes:
First off: Y/n now officially uses they/them pronouns! I've gone through my own character development since starting this disaster, and come to realize that the majority of my readers are not she/hers (I'd ask why but I also started this as a she/her and now I'm a he/him, so I guess Endermen just steal genders), so effective immediately, Y/n is a they/them.
Second: this is your reminder to join the EoV/HoG discord! We have a lot of fun, and it gives you access to otherwise unavailable short stories from the EoV universe, several VCs to chat with the author, and channels to discuss EoV and HoG with other readers (and me, obviously.) And if you like spoilers, I don't know how to keep my mouth shut, so there's a common problem of me completely spilling the beans on what's coming next (always blacked out for those who don't like spoilers, but still available for those who do!)
So with all that out of the way, thanks for reading, please remember to VOTE, COMMENT, and SHARE, and I'll see y'all soon!
