Climax - Part 3

"How crazy is it that the night after we try to catch a voyeur, we're getting ready for prom?" Aminity asked as she fixed her hair in Betty's mirror.

She chuckled. "That's Riverdale for you." She turned, allowing Aminity to look her over. "How do I look?"

"You look incredible, Betty," she smiled as she took in the pale purple gown she wore.

"You too." The younger girl blushed. "Only..." She turned, grabbing the beanie off of the dresser and putting it on Aminity's head. "Perfect."

"Thanks," she smiled, feeling much more comfortable.

"Now, come on. I think we've kept them waiting long enough." Aminity followed Betty down the stairs, watching with a smile at the awestruck look on her brother's face as he took in his girlfriend. She took in a breath before walking down, locking eyes with Sweet Pea as she did. He stood still, mouth opening slightly as he took her in. She wore a purple to pink ombre dress that showed off her body in all the right ways. She had barely any makeup on and he couldn't help but smile as he saw the beanie on her head.

"You look..." He couldn't finish as he took her hand and she blushed.

"You look very handsome," she said, looking up and down at his fitted suit and gelled back hair. He helped put the corsage on her wrist, kissing the inside of it where her tattoo sat. She smiled up at him, running a hand near the pocket that held his matching boutonniere and straightening it, making him chuckle.

"Okay, guys, picture time. Smile," Alice said and they got into position, getting pictures of all four of them before doing the individual couples. "Okay, now one of Jughead and Aminity." The siblings moved so she could take the picture.

"You look so grown up," Jughead told her quietly. She looked up at him to find him already looking down at her. "I can't believe it. I love you so much."

"I love you too," she smiled and he leant down, kissing the top of her head. Alice forced them to get more pictures, Sweet Pea ending up with the camera as Alice and FP joined in. Eventually, FP pried Alice away and the teens joined the others in the limo that Veronica had rented, laughing as they listened to music while driving to the school. The boys helped their dates out of the car, holding hands as they walked into the gym.

"Pea, look," Aminity smiled, pointing at the video screen at the front of the room where pictures of the students played.

He spun her around, bowing slightly. "May I have this dance?" She smiled and nodded, allowing him to lead her onto the dance floor. They laughed and spun around with their friends, mixing and matching partners.

Aminity stepped away to get a drink, crossing her arms. "Reggie," she cleared her throat as she caught him near the punch bowl.

"Oh, come on, Aminity. It's tradition."

"No way." He huffed, handing her the flask. "Thank you." She watched with a small smile as he walked away in defeat and she poured herself a drink before joining the others at one of the tables where they had all gathered. They fell into easy, light conversation as drinks were passed around, the girls sitting to get some relief from their heels.

"I'd like to propose a toast," Kevin said and they all grabbed their drinks. "To surviving this crazy town and making it a night that we'll never forget."

"Cheers." They all drink, smiling as The World I Know started to play and the couples took the floor. Sweet Pea wrapped his arms around Aminity's waist as her arms went around his neck. They stared into each other's eyes, smiles on their faces before she leant her head onto his chest and he pulled her closer. They swayed with each other, feeling like they were the only ones in the room until the music faded away and Weatherbee took the stage.
