" That was my best friend Rolex. He joined the legal team in my company last month."

Jackson said while being a bit taken back about Jewel begging him to tell her about that man.

"Best friend since when?" Jewel wanted to know more. If they were indeed best friends, there is no way he wouldn't have known about her history with Rolex. How come she miss this detail? They dated for a month, though!

" Since we were kids. He was the one who caught you when you fainted at our wedding. Why?"

'I KNEW IT'

"What?Have you guys ever been apart?" It is possible, though.

Jewel is barely in contact with people whom she thought were her best friends!

"Jewel, we were always best friends!"
Her heart trembled faster than ever.

"So you knew?"She mumbled, quite inaudible but with full of guilt, not giving him an eye contact.

"Do you know him too?" Jackson asked her.
So he didn't know!
"Huh? I guess he looked like someone I know"
She didn't meet her eyes with him after that.

"Really? Rolex left the town when he was 19,I guess.I couldn't even say bye to him back then."
Jackson continued.

"Why?"Jewel was curious.

" I was in college, remember? It was second year of college. So hostel, assignments, coding contests.... I was quite preoccupied."

Ah, now it makes sense why she missed this part. This brainy guy made it to his college with a single try and left when he was quite young.

Jewel  met Rolex at a therapy centre, while she was struggling  just to score a decent rank in the medical entrance exam. She had to try twice, so she wasted almost two years on it.

Jackson wasn't even in the town! But how come Rolex never mention anything about him to her or anything about Jewel to Jackson? Was he embarrassed of her?

As she contemplated, Jackson had driven all the way to her apartment.

The skies were clear again.

She walked into her apartment, disturbed, scared, confused and wet.

Jackson waved her goodbye, which she didn't see.

****************

"Are you home,son?"
Lizzy was surprised to see Jackson earlier than his usual schedule.

"Yup" Jackson removed his coat.

"Give it to me, I will wash it for you"
She offered and he said it was fine.

"Ey, its fine... You take rest, You must be tired, right?"

Lizzy smiled, still took his coat.

As he threw the car key on desk and lied on his back on his fluffy bed, he couldn't help but reminise the first time he had seen Jewel. The very first time when a girl walked into his heart!

Nope, it wasn't the blind date.

More than anyone in this world, more than his own mother, Rolex understood Jackson the most. Both were children to divorced parents. Both went with their mothers.
Jackson had Vivian but Rolex had no siblings.

But Rolex was lucky, his father Dr.Moorthy, a psychiatrist, was a good man.Its just, his mother was not the right match for him.

Even after divorce, he shared a warm relationship with both of them.

But Jackson didn't have that privilege.

Ever since he was a kid, he saw his father hurt his mother.

If the food was too warm, if the food wasn't warm enough, if the food doesn't match up to his taste, if the carpet is not clean, if the shoes aren't clean enough, if the curtains were not washed..... Lizzy got beaten up for anything that annoyed her man. That explains her obsession with housework, which she expected Jewel to follow as well.
