Jewel and Jackson

The week

"Hey!"

Jewel was greeted by Jackson with a warm smile, while she was disturbed by what Mira had told her.

There was a lot of contemplation in her mind, but having that conversation was the best option she could choose.

"Jackson..... Today I met Mira and she told me something. I am not criticizing or questioning you, I just want to know the truth."

Jackson turned his eyes away from the computer and looked at her with a tad bit of fear.

"Did you know about Mira beforehand? That she was cheating on my brother?"

He sighed as he did expect this conversation.

"Okay, so I have to admit-partly yes. Was I sure of it? Not at all."

"And you didn't think that you should tell me or Jude about it? Had dad not found out, you would have let her ruin my brother's life?"

He closed his laptop and went near her. She was breathing heavily, as if a meltdown was gonna follow.

"First of all, sit down."

She obliged.

He seated her on the bed and sat opposite to her.

"So two months before we officially met, I had bumped into you at the pub. I was there with  my colleagues and you were drunk and that is why  you may not remember this. You needed some help. So I took you over to Mira, who had accompanied you to the pub and she was with a lady. They were a bit intimate with each other. But as soon as I tapped her, she left everything and took off with you. I didn't know who she was till the day we got married."

"Why did you never mention about this to me?"

Now she knew how Jackson spotted her correctly at the blind date. So before they got married, he knew her.
He had seen her.

"Later, later I knew she and Jude has been a couple since college times and they genuinely looked happy and content with each other.Plus I was not sure about what I saw either as I had consumed alcohol myself too. If I have to go back in time, I still don't think I would out someone and make comments about their sexuality without their consent."

Jewel understood what Jackson was trying to say. But she couldn't simply let that go.

Her brother was being conned. He had a clue. He chose to not be honest and she was disappointed.

But who is she to judge?

"Can I ask you something?"

"Yeah"

She wanted to ask if the pub was the first time he had seen her. But what she said instead was

"Never mind"

When she thought of it, she and Jackson was never really in a relationship to expect anything from each other. She didn't tell him before supporting Viviaan in his music career or about Rolex being her first love she never forgot.

But this felt different.

Had this happened few months back, she would have been not disappointed as there is not much of expectations. They hardly had real conversations with each other.

Now, it felt different. She felt like a family member didn't care of another.

She felt like her husband was not honest with her.

'Husband'

Her perception of Jackson was changing into someone closer to her heart... Someone she might want to live with...... Someone she was seeing getting old with...... She was getting attached to him when their divorce was one week away.
