After hours of searching for my brother, we still haven't found him and I was getting hints of anxiety hitting me.
"Does Dad know that Lewis is missing?" Harry asked.
I nodded and said, "Yeah I called him before we left."
Harry simply replied with an "Oh" and silence engulfed the car once again.
"Maybe he's at school because there's a competition today but Dad didn't allow him to compete," Harry said.
"Alright, I just hope he's there," I said and asked Nate to hurry to the school.
When we arrived, several cars were parked and I could hear people cheering inside one of the school buildings. I ran towards the door and when I opened it, I was greeted by crowds of people.
"Excuse me," I said as I pushed myself between to ladies who were probably cheering for their children.
I roamed the place, looking for my brother and I found him with some of his friends. He was eating ice cream and was laughing about something when I approached him.
"Lewis," I hissed through my teeth. "Why did you go outside without permission? You know that you can't just walk around town!"
My voice had gone a bit loud that I drew attention to us.
"Winter, you're embarrassing me. Stop yelling," he said as he glared at me.
"I don't care if I'm embarrassing you. What I care about is your safety. You know it's dangerous and something bad could have happened to you," I told him.
"Look, whatever, nothing bad happened to me so just go away. You're ruining the competition," he said as he walked away, hitting me with his shoulder in the process.
"You don't get to walk away from me young man!" I said angrily as I grabbed his arm.
The ice cream that he was holding fell on the ground and he faced me angrily.
"I told you to go didn't I!" he shouted.
"Look, don't shout at me, I'm your older sister," I said while gripping his arm tightly.
He shook my grip off harshly and pushed me by my shoulders. I was taken aback by his actions that my mouth was open in shock.
"You don't have the right to say that you're my older sister because in reality, you really are not. You were never there for me. You were never there for us! How could you come here and command me to go back home?!" he yelled, tears streaming down from his eyes. "I can take care of myself! Harry and I know that because you abandoned us. Also, I'm not as stupid as you were when you were younger. I hate you! I wish you were the one who died and not Maisie!"
He ran away but I wasn't able to run after him. I didn't want to and even if I did, I couldn't because I was stuck frozen on my spot. I never thought that my brother would hate me that way.
"Winter," Nate said as held my hand, trying to comfort me but tears still feel from my eyes.
"I think I need to be alone for a while," I said through sobs and as I looked at him, his eyes wore nothing but worry.
I left the building hastily as I debated on whether I would go home or go somewhere else. If I went home, there would be a possibility that Lewis would be there so I just walked towards the park. I willed my legs to move as I sobbed through my palms. My eyes hurt but the tears still won't stop falling. It just hurts so much to know that your own brother hates you.
