When they finally got to the park that connected the town to the woods, Splendid was ready to go home. Not because he was exhausted, but because he found himself extremely horny. He hid it very well as he pulled Flippy along by his hand. Flippy, himself, had his hoodie up, face still bright red.
He had a big smile on his face as he noticed Splendont sitting on one of the swing sets, going through something on his phone. He looked up with a scowl on his face as they came near.
"What took you guys so long?" He asked, his scowl getting deeper as he looked at Flippy.
Splendid was still smiling, but he had to clear his throat before speaking, "I told you we were taking the scenic route. We went off trail a bit, sorry."
"An hour and a half. The scenic route is only forty minutes. What the hell were you two do—?"
"Splendid!"
They all looked up to see Cuddles, Sniffles, and a few other townies coming over when he had appeared. Splendid didn't even notice the circle that had formed around Splendont when it was just him. He felt Flippy move closer, squeezing his hand as the others excitedly came over to greet him.
"Hey, guys." He smiled, waving.
He supposes his expression was much more joyful than his normal public image. The little groupies seemed to get more excited at the delightful display. Splendid tilted his head slightly.
"You haven't been to town in almost three weeks!" Cuddles said, a bright grin on his face. "Where have you been?"
Splendid chuckled at his enthusiasm, "Been at home, taking a mental health break. Splendont's been keeping an eye on the town for me."
Sniffles, unnoticed by Splendid, smiled wearily, "Ah, yes! And it's been great!"
Another townie spoke up, "We were just worried about you."
Splendid waved his free hand, "I'm alright. Everything's been great!"
It was then, they turned to the hooded figure that was steadily trying to hide behind Splendid. Cuddles pointed him out.
"Hey, who's that?"
Splendid pulled on Flippy and waved his hand once more, "Flippy, of course! Where else would he be than with me?"
The others froze at this before stepping back a few feet. Splendid smiled at their weariness, but their reactions didn't phase him. This was normal. If Fliqpy came out again, it would only serve them good to run before things got out of hand.
"It's alright. Flippy's been great lately." Splendid said, pulling on the other's hand. "We're heading to the Summer festival, want to come?"
Cuddles gave him a look, glancing at Flippy, "Uh... we'll pass. We actually just came from there."
Splendid nodded at them, "That's alright! We'll join you next time."
The others nodded, watching with barely concealed concern as Splendid pulled Flippy along, waving goodbye without a care in the world. Splendid paid them no mind, missing the look the small group shared with his brother.
_______________________Flippy squeezed Splendid's hand on and off as they walked out of the park area and into the busy streets of town. Up ahead, he could see beautiful flower decorations and stalls up around the streets.
We came to one of these back then.
. . . When we first moved here.
Back then, this was after an incident or two with Fliqpy. Flaky was still his friend then. She was terrified of him, but still believed in him, still thought the world of him. That year, there hadn't been any accidents until the venders started closing up shop. Giggles and Petunia had that lemonade stand. Flippy hadn't been there for it thankfully, but he heard they had a really bad day.
