"Soda!" I banged on the bathroom door for the fifth time that morning. "If you don't get out-" the door swung open. Soda stood with his arms crossed, comb in one hand and gel in the other. "Jesus Stella. You think it only takes five minutes to look this good?"

I scoffed, "whoever told you that you looked good was lyin through their teeth." I muttered pushing past him. "I gotta get ready, I'm meeting up with-"

"Don't care" soda cut me off and walked down the hall. I laughed a little and shut the door. With the night I had, I wanted nothing more than a relaxing hot shower. Darcy and I planned on day drinking down at the Pond a few blocks away. We were trying to make the best of our last few summer months before school started back up. I didn't even want to think about school. When I started the shower I could've screamed. There was no hot water.

"Sodapop!!" I yelled in frustration.

"Why did we buy this many drinks?" Darcy groaned walking sluggishly behind me. "My arms are gonna fall off."

"I wanna drink the day away." I laughed holding the bushes out of the way so Darcy could cut through. There was a little pond a couple blocks away hidden behind bushes and shrubs. Darcy and I have came here since we were kids to get away. I was needing to get away from the house and have some fun. We laid our towels down and I put a little sunscreen on my face. "It sure is hot." I grabbed a beer and opened it with Darcy's keys. "Boiling." Darcy complained laying down on her towel. I took my shorts and top off and adjusted my swimsuit. It was awfully small, I had grown out of it when my curves came in but never spent the money on a new one. Darcy wouldn't let me throw it out, she said it made her drool, she could only imagine what the boys thought. I listened.

When I laid down I closed my eyes and let the sun absorb my body. Summers in Tulsa were hot.
We had only been laying out there for a couple of minutes and I was burning up.

"So...how was the date with Bob?" Darcy folded her arm over her forehead shielding the sun. I smiled slightly. "Oh god...why are you smiling?"

"It actually went....great." I let out a deep breathe, glad I could talk about it with someone. "He was sweet and we have a lot in common. It just stinks you know..since he's a soc and all."
Darcy stared at me with her mouth gaped, "no chance did I think that's what you were gonna say." I laughed a little. "It's bad Darcy it's so bad...he didn't kiss me or nothin but...I don't know. I felt a real connection with him."

"So..when are you seeing him next."

I frowned a little, "here's the thing..." I sighed. She sat up and grabbed another beer. Her eyebrow raised telling me to go on. "Dally has came in my room the past few nights and slept in my bed."

She choked, "what?! Stella!!"

"Shhh"

"You didn't think that was an important thing to mention to me?"

"I haven't had the chance...and besides, it's all just games." I shrugged taking a sip. Darcy was beaming and could hardly sit still. "Tell me everything from the top."

So I spent the next thirty minutes explaining everything to her. From the night I came home from the party to the night I came home from the date. Her face changed from happy to confused numerous times and I couldn't blame her, Dally was absolutely confusing. "And then the day after he begged me to let him take me out, he was with another girl at the gas station." She scoffed. "What an asshole.."

"Even Ponyboy said I'm better off with a guy like Bob than Dal."

I finished my fourth drink and I was feeling good. Almost like the weights were lifted, temporarily.
"Well, you know pony's a 40 year old man stuck in a fourteen year olds body, so maybe pony knows best." We both laughed. "Whatever or whoever you decide, if you do decide, your brothers will kill you. Bob or Dal." I nodded. Wasn't that the truth.
