I N the morning, Evanora was out early to see the beauty of the world in sunlight. The light made her squint severely, and she shielded her eyes with her hand until they adjusted.

Her first stop was Gringotts Bank.

Evanora opened the door slowly, observing the goblins rushing everywhere, working. Gently nodding her head in respect to them, she approached the tall desk.

"Yes?"

She offered the goblin a friendly smile. "Good morning. I'd like to speak to the Black and Emrys Families' account managers, if I could."

"And who would you be to do so?" The goblin sneered at her.

"Evanora Aurelia Emrys Black." She lifted her head to meet his gaze.

The goblin narrowed his eyes at her, almost as if he were trying to see through her.

"Erkar, Kurrast," he yelled. Two goblins appeared out of thin air. "The heir is here. Do a blood test to be sure."

"Follow me, Lady Black."

"Follow me, Lady Emrys."

They said at the same time. She sensed her two account managers had some ongoing competition, and she was the decider.

They walked her down a long hall; the further down the hall she got, the better the rooms looked.

At the end of the hall was a single room labeled Black & Emrys.

"Take a seat; we have much to discuss, Lady Black."

"Thank you. Uh, I'm sorry, I'm not sure who is who." Evanora embarrassedly said, smiling.

"I'm Kurrast, the Emrys family account manager," the somewhat shorter goblin said.

"And I'm Erkar, the Black family account manager. Let's get straight to business; I'm sure you have plenty of things to do today," he told her, smirking.

"A mischievous one I see; the Black's have worn off on you."

She leaned forward a little but maintained her perfect posture.

"He can't help it," Kurrast replied. "Just take this knife and put a couple of drops of blood on the paper."

"I was always told Goblins were a lot meaner." Evanora took the knife from the smaller goblin's hand.

"Your parents had an influence over us, and we want to treat you like they did us," Erkar stated as they watched the blood drip on the paper.
