diluc has a best friend — someone he likes, if you must. everyone knows that of course. before diluc become a young man of many admirers he was once a timid little boy growing grapes in his father's gardens. alongside him was a young lovely ball of joy ; someone who would always play alongside diluc and be the beacon of happiness him and his brother could ever ask for.
their name was y/n.
kaeya and diluc loved y/n dearly, and it came as no surprise that y/n loved them both very much. they would play with y/n constantly, and diluc's father would always invite y/n to stay over for dinner so that they could enjoy the family's most delicious of delicacies which diluc was fond of.
there was a night during the shooting star shower in teyvat where young y/n and diluc snuck out of the house and crept up a nearby hill to watch shiny shooting rocks fly high in the sky.
"beautiful night isnt it?" y/n asked.
"not as beautiful as you...." a shy diluc said embarrassedly. of course y/n was embarrassed too, they had no prior experience of a 'crush', and if they were to experience it, diluc would be the first.
they were still young kids after all, and an innocent little budding puppy love was definitely going on between them — even the adults knew somehow.
"hey diluc, do you think we'll become shooting stars when we die?"
"well... i thought we'd become rocks!"
y/n laughed. "no silly, what makes you think we'd become rocks?"
"well my dad said so."
y/n nudged diluc. "your dad's just messing with ya."
diluc and y/n shared a moment on the hill, staying close to one another until they both got tired and decided to head back home. y/n waved goodbye and went on their way back home.
