"Since Sachiko's skills are inadequate, I've hired a maid to take care of Sayaka," Ririka announced.

"Inadequate?! I'll have you know that I'm a awfully good caretaker," Sachiko huffed. "You two were fine with me, what changed your minds?"

"Well, Vani told us that she saw you throwing Sayaka up and down the other day," Mary replied. "You nearly didn't catch her once."

"VANI?! THAT LITTLE——" Sachiko exclaimed, outraged.

"And you won't be able to take care of Sayaka. You'll be helping out in the search for Kokoro," Ririka added.

Sachiko shrieks of distress filled the estate for a few minutes before she finally ran out breath, grumbling something about being rejected.

The new maid arrived a few minutes later, carrying a suitcase and luggage. Her dark brown hair was neat and tied in a bun professionally. Her piercing blue eyes made Ririka uncomfortable as she attempted to speak to her.

"U-Um...so...Mary and I will b-be going on a vacation—eep!" she squeaked as the maid tilted her head. "S-So we'll be leaving Sayaka in your care. Take good care of her or Kirari Momobami will have your head."

The maid bowed. "Understood."

Mary took Ririka's hand in hers. "Alright. Let's go, Riri. You brought her here one day ago to show her around right?"

"Mhm."

"Then let's go on our vacation."

The new maid, Ahmya, picked Sayaka up gently, bringing her to one of the guest rooms.

After Ririka had informed Kirari of the new maid, Kirari decided to ask Sayaka's current bodyguards to join her in her quest to find Kokoro instead.

Since this maid supposedly knew martial arts.

Sayaka sat on the bed, staring at Ahmya curiously.

Ahmya took out a vial from her suitcase, containing a dark red liquid.

In one swift motion, she pinned Sayaka to the bed, grabbing her by the throat and forcing the liquid down her throat, smiling cruelly as the toddler cried and choked, but ultimately digested the liquid.

Ahmya watched as Sayaka's body jerked several times before she fell unconscious.

Ahmya fished out her phone, calling her Boss.

"Ma'am, I've fed her the poison."

"Excellent work as always, Ahmya," Kokoro said from the other end of the phone. "Continue to do so until you've used up all the poison in your possession, then and leave immediately."

"Understood. What do I do in the meantime?"

"Chain her up so she won't move. She may be a toddler, but her mind is still extremely intelligent."

"Got it."

Several days later......

Baby Sayaka woke up to find herself lying on the floor, chained to the wall. She made a small whimper of pain. Her chest burned and her head was throbbing. She could barely breathe.

Sayaka wheezed heavily, crying as she felt her throat close up.

"Is there a problem?" Ahmya said as she sat on the bed, looking down at the child. "What I hate most is crying children."

Sayaka watched fearfully as Ahmya got up and knelt down, holding another vial.

"It's time for your medicine," Ahmya sang. "It's the last one. Then I'll leave and never come back."

She seized Sayaka by the throat once more, kicking her elbowing her stomach forcefully when the toddler struggled weakly, forcing the liquid down her throat before dropping the poor child onto the floor.

"Kirari will only be back after a few more days, so you'll die before you get to see her," Ahmya said. "Oh well."

Ahmya packed her stuff hurriedly before leaving without a trace.

Three more days later......

"Humph, I can't believe we're leaving early," Mary grumbled.

"Well, it can't be helped. We have nothing to do," Ririka replied. "Might as well go back early." She kissed Mary's cheek boldly before turning away, embarrassed.

Ririka turned around slightly, catching a glimpse of Mary's burning cheeks. Mary covered her face, pretending to cough.

Ririka and Mary arrived home.

"I wonder where Sayaka and the maid are," Mary said. "I can't find them in the usual room----"

A scream was heard from one of the guest rooms. "SAYAKA!"

Mary bolted frenziedly towards the sound, only to find Ririka shaking an unconscious Sayaka. The toddler's body was completely ashen white and she didn't seem to be breathing. Her arms were chained to the wall and her body was still. Mary stood riveted to the ground, immobilised with terror.

She regained her composure a few seconds later and quickly scrambled to find the medicine, rushing back to where Sayaka was and applying some on her face.

The Momobami's medicine took effect instantaneously. Sayaka started to breathe again and her body started to regain its colour. Ririka sighed in relief, her cheeks were stained with tears and her hands trembled as she brought out her phone to text Kirari.

Meanwhile, Mary managed to find a key in one of the drawers and unshackled Sayaka from her chains.

The toddler shifted slightly in her sleep, mumbling something about Kirari.

"What do we do now?" Ririka asked tearfully, her eyes wide with fear. "We need Kirari to come back now!"

Mary opened her mouth to answer but was interrupted by a gunshot.

What was it this time?
