After we finished breakfast the group split up agreeing to meet again at one of the training rings in the big gardens. This time, like always when it came to training, I wore one of Haldirs older shirts tucked into the waistband of my black cotton shorts. The neckline was a deep cut adjustably by thin strings. When Haldir and I showed up the others were definitely able to see the marks on my neck.
I chose to ignore the stares and started a small warm up by running around the trainings ring and a short stretch. Legolas seemed to have done that before our arrival, because he stood at the side conversing with Aragon and Haldir. Once I was finished, I walked up to them passing Legolas a wooden sword.
"Here. For the start I want to see, what you are capable of in a normal fight." I stated walking into the ring. "Since I don't know how your fighting style differs from the elves I encountered I'd rather not risk to severely harm you, by guessing how much you could handle."
Legolas followed me suit. "Thank you for your concern, but I promise I can take a lot more than what I look like."
I turned striking my sword and catching him by surprise and forcing the weapon out of his grasp. "We will see that, my prince." With a small grumble he picked up his sword and holding it infront of him.
The rest was watching us with curios eyes. Aragon took a step forward. "I would say we don't fight a knock-out fight. Once one of you is unable to fight the round ends, granting one point to the winner. I think best of three will do." Legolas and I nodded in approval not letting the other one out of sight.
"Begin!"
I stayed immobile, waiting for Legolas to strike first. We were walking in circles trying to find mistakes in the pathing of the other, but he was good. Every step he took seemed to be thoughtful and well coordinated. With my right foot I pretended to take a step in order to jump at him and to my surprise it fooled him.
Like I always do with taller enemies I let myself drop to the floor striking my leg across aiming for his ankles to make him fall. I locked my foot with his pulling him to the ground while simultaneously swinging my sword towards his torso. Legolas caught it right before it would have hit him.
Still laying on the ground he pushed me back with his legs, causing me to roll backwards. He didn't let me have enough time for a proper set up, charging at me with fast footing and handwork. I had trouble keeping up with his speed. This was one of the reasons I liked fighting with elves, because it usually included me learning new stuff,or at least getting my limits pointed out.
My breathing was becoming rapid and I noticed my footwork getting slower with each second. I turned myself towards his chest, hooking one foot behind his and capturing his sword with mine. Then I pushed back with all the strength I had, catching him off guard he stumbled and fell to the floor. I took a leap over his body, trying to get a stance behind him, but I underestimated his agility at great length. He rolled to the side over his shoulder and stood up in a smooth movement. Then he swung his sword around, knocking mine out of my hand and pointing the tip of his weapon at my throat.
"It seems like I am quite capable of taking you on, my lady." He said a teasing smile on his lips. I bowed my head in respect not looking away from his eyes. "Are you certain, my prince?" I asked innocently, smiling at him coyly.
With all the speed I could muster, I placed both of my hands on the flat side of his sword. Pretending it was a real one, I was careful to not get cut. And then I turned my hand, snatching my foot in the air and kicking Legolas in the chest. He was forced a few steps backwards and let go of the sword, causing it to fall to the ground.
I picked it back up, now being the one pointing it at him. "Looks like you underestimated me, my prince."
