𝐈𝐓'𝐒 been almost a week since Bakugou's last seen you, since you've used all your sick days to take time off. He hopes you're doing well. He hopes that's a good sign.
At least you're not working yourself to past the point of exhaustion. You probably wouldn't be doing anything worse at home or wherever it is you're staying. Maybe he should call you and check up on you.
But then, Bakugou stops his line of thought. Why is he so worried? It was appropriate to have a somewhat amount of concern for his aide, but this much? Why does he care so much? He needs to stop.
You've reminded him yourself not to worry, that you can handle your struggles. But can he really trust you?
She's fine. Stop worrying and focus.
Just then, the phone rang, getting his attention. It was Hanako. "I have the HPSC on the line. They want to talk to you."
He let out a soft sigh. What now? "Put em' through."
"Hello, Mr.Katsuki. I'm calling from the hero agency to inform you that we've received all of _______'s reports and decided that you've done quite well. Well enough for us to move on without the reports, and give you the choice to pick your assistant again."
While he felt relieved, he also felt some more concern wash over him. "Uh, okay. Did something happen with _______?"
"Not to our knowledge. Unless there's something you would like to share?" The voice replied. "No, never mind."
"Well, you could stay with ________ if you would like. It's up to you. We just wanted to give you this new information." They told him.
"Alright, thank you." And with that, he hung up.
Now he's even more conflicted. Just great.
What is he going to do?A long, thirty minutes passed, and the next thing he knew, Camie was in her office rambling about her day. Photo shoots, modeling for magazines, blah, blah, blah. The usual.
"Katsuki? Are you even listening to me?" She asked, noticing his silence. "Sorry, I just have other things on my mind right now."
"Like what?" He went quiet, trying to think of the best way he could answer her.
"The hero commission called me and let me know that I can choose my own assistants again. I'm trying to decide if I should stay with ______ or not." He admitted.
"Oh my god, finally. Now you can find someone new that actually knows what they're doing." Camie remarked.
That struck a nerve with Bakugou. "I never said I'm planning on replacing _______. She knows what she's doing. She's a hard worker and she's dependable."
"Why are you getting so defensive? Jeez." She growled. "Because I don't like it when people talk shit about my employees."
"Uhm, I'm not just a person, Katsuki. I'm your fiancé. Your soon to be wife, and I'm just giving you some input. It seems like you care about your aide a lot. Maybe even more than me." She stated.
"That is not true and you know it, Camie. Don't start that shit with me." He hissed angrily.
"Fine. I guess I'll talk to you later then." And with that, she stormed out of his office. He called after her, but she was already gone.
He groaned to himself, running his hands over his face. He was angry, frustrated, and upset.
You know what? Fuck it. I'm keeping her. She's a good employee and person, and it's not worth doing a long ass job search. He decided. The next thing he knew, he was sitting through papers, searching for your contact information. Once he found your phone number, he dialed it in and called you.
"Hello?" You greeted, and he was relieved to hear you sounding okay. Not sleep deprived or depressed, just slightly confused.
"Hey, it's uh, it's Bakugou. I just wanted to check in and see how you're doing." He replied.
"I'm doing better, thanks. You were right about getting a good night's sleep. It helps a lot." You admitted. "That's good to hear."
"I'm sorry for snapping at you the other day, by the way. You're my superior and it was inappropriate. It won't happen again."
"You don't have to apologize. I know you were tired, and I was being a nosy pain in the ass." He confessed.
"No, you just wanted to help me. I was completely out of it, and what you said was a wake up call for me to get it together, so, thank you." You replied.
"Anyways, what are you up to today?" He heard you giggle on the other side, smiling to himself. "Why are you asking me that? Are you trying to catch me playing hooky or something?"
"Maybe. Should I be concerned?" He remarked, and you laughed again, murmuring a suspicious "noooo."
He scoffed. "You're a shitty liar."
"Or maybe I'm a great liar, and just letting you know when I'm not telling the truth." You replied, making him laugh.
"I'm just bored. Things aren't as interesting when you're not around." He let slip, and shit, he shouldn't have said that. "Oh? Does that mean you miss me? I can't blame you, though. I'm a great assistant, after all. Always screwing up on my copies and stuff."
You joked, putting things back on track back on the professional level, where they should be. It was just a small slip up and you fixed it. Not like he actually missed you or anything. He was just being an idiot.
"I was finally feeling a little better today, and I missed every other day this week so I decided to stay home. Well, I had to go to my best friend's baby shower, so it's not like I could stay that long. I left about an hour or two ago and went grocery shopping, and now I'm home."
"Wow, you're really using up your sick days, huh? Next thing I know, you're going to be taking out all your vacation days to skip work too." He taunted.
"Well, they are called vacation days for a reason. And don't worry, when I come back next week, I'm going to be there to stay. You won't be able to get rid of me, not even if you wanted to." You told him.
"That's good to hear."
