𝐀𝐅𝐓𝐄𝐑 a long wait, your agency managed to track Tsukumo down. He finally made a mistake, and he's going to pay for it. He's going to pay for everything he's done. Everyone he's hurt. Innocent people, those that didn't deserve it, and you.

He's been hiding out at a safe house, one that's only accessible to those in the criminal world. You'll have to be careful.

"What are you doing here?" Bakugou asked, once the brief for the assignment was finished and the room was mostly empty. After the day you spent together, you decided to leave. You needed rest space, and time to think.

"What do you mean? I'm here for my assignment. To catch Tsukumo once and for all." You replied.

"What about your ankle?"

You eyed your ankle, rolling it a few times, there was some brief soreness, but it was much better than before. "It's good. A lot better."

"Are you sure about this?" He pressed. You frowned. "What do you mean?"

"I just- I don't know if this is a good idea. You just recovered from an injury and it's dangerous. Not to mention Tsukumo has it out for you. You're a target."

You sighed. "That's exactly why I have to do this, Katsuki. They need me to lure him away. He wants to trap me. He wants to hurt me. I know him, and I'm going to get him...We're going to get him, and we're going to put him away. For good, this time."

He gazed at you, staring deeply into your eyes. His arms wrapped around your waist, pulling you close, so your faces were almost touching. You could see the concern, the fear, and worst of all, the love.

You heard him whisper those words that night, and it scared you more than anything else could have. He couldn't love you. He shouldn't love you. Love is a dangerous, awful thing. Especially in a place like this. Here, love is a weakness, one that could get you killed.

"They showed me the photos of what happened the last time you were with him. I saw what he did to you. I can't let you go through that again."

"It won't." You refused to look him in the eye.

"How do you know?" His grip on you tightened, but it wasn't painful. You expected to see him angry and demanding, but instead, all you could see was desperation. What have you done?

"Because I know. It'll be different this time. We all know what he's capable of now. I'll be fine, Katsuki. Don't you trust me?"

"I do, but-"

"Then let me handle this." You slipped out of his grip, walking away.

You couldn't let him in. You had already taken things too far. But this was so different. You'd never felt this way before. It wasn't just some friends-with-benefits weird hookup thing like you had with Hawks. It was more. More caring, more wanting, more everything. If that was even possible. That's why you had to stop.

You continued to walk off, ignoring all the other parts of your brain that were screaming at you to go back, to let him hold you in his arms, to let him take care of you, to let him give you everything he has. Even though it hurt, you knew it was for the best.

Your feelings aren't important right now anyway. You have much more pressing matters to attend to. A mission to prepare for, and a villain to catch.

"Alright, you should be good to go." Your coworker remarked as she hid the wire in your jacket pocket. She had been preparing you in the van outside the drop spot, where the hideout would be.

"Just remember, the moment you see him, you say the word and we'll send the teams in. Don't give him any time to react or do anything, okay?" She told you. You nodded in response.

You adjusted your disguise, a jacket and mask that covered your face, enough to make you unidentifiable, but you knew it didn't matter. Tsukumo would recognize you from anywhere. He knew you like the back of his hand. He was going to find you, and you couldn't stop him. You knew that.

You took a deep, shaky breath. "I'm ready."

Bakugou grabbed your arm, stopping you. "Wait. Let me go with you, please."

"Stop. Just stop. I told you already I can do this on my own. I have to do this on my own. The moment he senses anyone else here, he'll escape again."

"How do you know he won't run the moment he gets you? If you let me come with you, I can make sure it's safe."

You let out a frustrated sigh. "I'm sticking to the plan, and that's what you have to do, too. I don't need you. You're not special or different. You forced yourself into this. My past, my job, and my life. I'm not going to let you mess with anything else. So, you're going to stay here and listen until I give the signal, just like everybody else."

You turned on your heel, storming out of the van and shutting the door in his face. The last thing you saw was his hurt, heartbroken expression. Your words had wounded him. You know they did. But you needed him to listen.

You turned away, entering the safe house. The halls were empty and quiet, eerily quiet. Your heart was racing in your chest as you scanned your surroundings, searching for any signs of him. Something was wrong. Something was very, very wrong. Where was he? Had he fled again?

You opened a door to another room, preparing yourself, but no one was in there. There was just a bed, made neat and perfect. Boxes and suitcases were stacked in the corner of the room. Tsukumo's belongings.

Just as you let your guard down and went through them, a hand grabbed you by the throat, slamming you against the wall. You opened your mouth to scream, to speak, to do something, but he put a hand over your mouth. He pulled the wire from your jacket pocket, crushing it between his fingers.

And then, he looked you in the eyes and smiled at you, all smug and sick. "Nice try, little girl."
