𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 a groan, you reluctantly reached over to grab your phone, the light blinding your eyes. It was ringing incessantly, waking you from your sleep. You glanced down at the Lock Screen, seeing that it was three in the morning. Who could be calling at this hour?
7 MISSED CALLS FROM HPSC
You felt your stomach drop. There was only one reason why they would be calling this late. Suddenly, your phone rang again, making you jump. You pressed the answer button, murmuring a small, "Hello?"
"Ms.______? We have some unfortunate news."
--
"And so she totally screwed up. Isn't that hilarious?" Camie asked, finishing up another one of her ramblings. She was sitting at the edge of his desk, talking and laughing to herself, while he was lost in thought. "Katsuki? Hello? Are you even listening to me?"
"What? Sorry." He finally responded. That only caused her to go into another rant, berating him for not paying attention.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door, interrupting her. He was thankful for the distraction. But then he saw you, and the look you had on your face.
You seemed shaken up, your eyes red from crying, your body practically trembling. Your voice was small as you spoke. "Hi, sorry. Can I have a moment alone with Bakugou?"
"...Sure." It was a rare thing to get Camie to leave his side, especially when she was mid-rant, but she could tell from the way you looked that this was serious.
She shut the door behind her, lingering by the window of his office before stepping away. A moment or two after she left, you took a deep shaky breath, speaking. "I just wanted to say thanks for everything, but due because of personal reasons, I have to leave. Here's my resignation."
"What? What's happening? What's wrong? Why?" Bakugou immediately sprung up from his chair. He put a hand on your shoulder and cupped your face with the other.
You couldn't hold back anymore. You started to cry. He's never seen you cry before. He doesn't like it. "I- I can't tell you."
"Why not? Does it have something to do with the hero commission?" You nodded. "They made me sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement..I really can't tell you."
He doesn't let you go, instead, he kept his hands on your shoulder, thinking it over. "If you can't tell me, then show me."
The next thing you knew, you and Bakugou were leaving his office, and walking out to the common area. Camie stopped her conversation with Hanako, glancing over at the two of you. "Where are you guys going?"
"Out." Was all Bakugou replied with, which Camie didn't like. She followed the two of you to the elevator, pestering you with questions before Bakugou finally replied again. "There's no time to explain, I'll tell you later."
Before she could reply, the doors shut, leaving the two of you alone, which you were relieved by. Still, you were an emotional wreck, sad to leave your job, and terrified of what Bakugou was going to say to the commission.
--
Once he arrived, Bakugou marched right up to the front counter, with you following close behind. "I need to speak to the higher-ups."
"I'll see what I can do." The secretary glanced from you to him, before calling on the phone, asking if any higher-ups were available. She just hummed along to whatever the person was saying on the other line, before hanging up. "I'm sorry, but they're in meetings all day today. Would you like to schedule an appointment?"
"Bullshit. I know they just spoke with her, so I'm sure they can spare a couple of minutes with me." Frustration was clear in his voice as he practically smacked his palms against the counter.
The receptionist flinched, and you murmured Bakugou's name, trying to calm him down He ignored you. "Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to leave, if you keep raising your voice."
"Katsuki, please, just forget about it. Don't get yourself into trouble." You warned him, grabbing his arm and pulling him back towards you.
He finally faced you, pulling your hand off of his arm, shifting it into his hand instead, and looking deep into your eyes. "I don't care about getting in trouble. Just let me help you."
"...Okay."
Bakugou managed to push past the security, while you stayed back, keeping them from chasing after him. He followed the directions you told him to the Higher-up's meeting room, and burst through their door, interrupting them. "Why? Why are you taking her from me?"
"Mr.Katsuki, can this wait?" One of the higher-ups remarked. "No, it can't. ______'s leaving. I know she can't tell me, so I'll ask you instead. Why?"
"Please don't make us call security." He spoke in a calm voice, despite the words behind it being a threat. But Bakugou didn't budge. Didn't show an ounce of fear or regret. Instead, he glared at him, baring his teeth like some sort of animal. "Go ahead and call them. I beat them once to get up here, I can do it again."
"No, don't call them. I can handle him on my own." Another one of the higher-ups remarked, the largest man out of all of them, rolling up his sleeves.
But the woman in charge put her hand in front of him, stopping him. "That won't be necessary. We'll tell you, Mr.Katsuki, but you must sign an NDA first."
"Fine."

"About a little over a year ago, _______ was working in an undercover operation for an organized crime group led by a man named Tai Tsukumo. Due to unfortunate circumstances, her cover was blown and she was subject to torture by him. Thankfully, our heroes managed to track them down and send him to jail. Last month, we got news that he had escaped. Our heroes and agents are rushing to find him, and we've already started to lose people. Intel is saying that he's getting close to our city, and we need _____'s help, in finding and capturing him, and we also need to keep her safe."
That explained so much. Why your mood started changing and why you were so afraid just a month ago. This man hurt you...he tortured you, and Bakugou is going to make him pay.
"Let me help."'
