hyesoo got suspended for a month in school. I sighed when she told me that.
"why did you even do it?"
"they called my hanni a slut..."
'my hanni'? the chances of me getting with her just got lowered.
"still, you shouldn't have done that."
"yeah, I know... I was just so filled with anger and couldn't think straight. now I have nothing to do for a month."
"you have me," I said and pointed to myself. she gave me a small smile.
"minji, I know you like me but I don't seem to be able to reciprocate your feelings."
"let's not rush into things."
it upset me that she didn't see me that way even after I kissed her twice.
I also learnt that she decided to take a break with hanni and it made me glad. maybe if I could make her fall for me then she would choose me instead of hanni.
however, it was clear she was heads over heels for hanni. I should still try.

one month later...
lee hyesoo pov
my suspension was finally over and I was going to go back to school.
minji did try to make moves on me but I was not sure if I wanted to be with her. she was so sweet to me and I couldn't return back the feelings.
I haven't talked to or seen hanni at all since I left the school that day. did she even think of me at all?
I pushed that thought aside and got ready for school. minji came to me and gave me a peck on the lips.
even though we weren't together, she always gave me these little hugs and kisses.
my heart fluttered at how she always cared and took care of me.
I wasn't going to date her though. maybe I was just leading her on and giving her hopes by letting her do what she wanted to.
"let's go," she said and intertwined our hands together and pulled me with her.
we just walked hand in hand. I didn't really want to hurt her feelings.
"hyesoo, I was thinking... let's go on a date."
"you want to go on a date? with me?"
"yeah... I really like you and you know it, but you seem to have a hard time picking between me and hanni... so, let's go on a date."
"I'm not going to be choosing between you and hanni like you're objects you know. I'm just trying to sort out my feelings."
"yeah, I know. that's why I like you," minji smiled at me.
that smile really will kill me one day. too bad hanni's smile already killed me.
we reached the school and I took a deep breath.
"lee hyesoo is back!" I heard jake yell from behind before I even got the chance to take a step forward.
my friends were all there and they rushed to me.
"ooh, look at that," yunjin pointed at minji holding my hand. I blushed at them teasing me.
"it's not like that..."
"it will be... soon," minji answered and things just got more chaotic.
"you're going to be late," minji said and let go of me.
"we'll take good care of her for you," yunjin winked at her. minji smiled and waved goodbye.
"so, are you two a thing?" chan asked me.
"I said that it's not like what you think."
"she said it will be soon," jake said.
"she asked me on a date."
"you should totally go!" giselle urged me to.
"but..."
"you still want hanni?" yunjin asked. I slowly nodded at her.
"well, you could still try. she doesn't seem to be over you yet."
"I don't know. I don't want to hurt minji because she has been so sweet and nice to me but I still love hanni a lot."
"just tell minji no if you don't want to. I'm sure she will understand. it's better than you just leading her on," chan said and shrugged.
we all parted ways and went to our respective classes. this meant I had to see hanni.
I went to sit at my usual spot. kazuha noticed me and turned around.
"hey, you're back!"
"yeah."
"finally, I won't have to hear about hanni blabber about you."
"huh?"
"oh, you know, when you weren't here, she always talked about you."
"she did?"
"yeah, she said she hated herself for not being able to trust you and that she really wants you back. I think you should really get back with her."
"ok."
"it will definitely help her to learn to trust you more."
"I see. thanks."
she turned back to face the front while I just rested my head on the table.
I should just tell minji that I can't go on the date.
I took out my phone and texted her right away. I can't keep leading her on when I still love hanni so much.
after texting her, I rested my head on the table again and rested my eyes.
"hyesoo..." I looked up and saw hanni standing in front of me. she placed her things down and attacked me with a tight hug.
"I missed you so much," she said and snuggled against my neck.
"hanni, let's talk after class," I said and she pulled away from me.
