we slept through dinner and I was so lucky her parents didn't come inside the room and seeing us like that.it was probably midnight now. the streets looked dark outside with some dimly lit streetlights. hanni was still sleeping beside me. I got put of bed and quietly got dressed, pondering if I should wake hanni up.
I looked over at hanni, still sleeping soundly in bed. I didn't want to disturb her and risk getting caught by her parents, so I decided to let her sleep a little longer. I made my way to the door, trying to be as stealthy as possible.
as I reached for the doorknob, I heard a soft rustling sound behind me. I turned around to see hanni stirring in bed. she rubbed her eyes and looked up at me, confusion written all over her face.
"where are you going?" she asked.
"I'm just going to step out for a bit," I replied, trying to keep my voice low.
hanni nodded, still looking a little groggy. "ok, be careful," she said before closing her eyes and settling back into bed.
I quietly slipped out of the room, closing the door behind me. as I made my way down the hallway, I could hear the sound of her parents still watching tv in the living room. I stealthily made my way out, picking up my bag and shoes.
I stepped outside into the cool night air and took a deep breath, feeling a sense of freedom. I decided to take a walk around the neighborhood, enjoying the peacefulness of the night.
I took only a few steps before I felt arms wrap around my waist.
I immediately knew who it was and turned around to face hanni.
"I thought you were sleeping," I said, a smile spreading across my face.
"I was, but then I woke up and realized I didn't want to let you go out on your own," she replied, her arms still wrapped around me.
we walked hand in hand, talking and laughing as we explored the quiet streets of the neighborhood. the night was peaceful, with only the sound of our footsteps and occasional chirping of crickets filling the air.
I couldn't help but feel a rumble in my stomach. hanni gave me a knowing glint as we both went to grab a snack from the convenience store down the street.
"I want this... and this... and this!" hanni exclaimed as we picked out some snacks in the store. she was being so cute.
we went to pay for the items and it shocked us that kazuha was the cashier. what. never knew she worked here.
"oh, hi zuha," I smiled at her as she didn't respond to us and was busy scanning the items.
"your total is $30.68," she said. I took out some cash and paid her and she just kept sighing.
"damn, what's wrong?" I asked.
"nothing... just tired, I'm doing this night shift today with my colleague but she's busy in the back, playing some games," she responded as she gave me my change.
"I am not playing games! I am restocking our items!" this other girl came out and wasshputing at kazuha.
"eunchae, I can literally hear the it," kazuha sighed again and this eunchae pouted. she scoffed and helped kazuha packed me and hanni's items.
"hi! you must be kazuha unnie's friends! I'm eunchae, hong eunchae!" she greeted excitedly and handed us the bag.
"uh, yes... we go to the same school," I awkwardly said and grabbed the bag from her.
hanni and I made our way to some of the empty seats at the back of the store and sat there to enjoy our snacks. we could hear eunchae and kazuha bickering which was pretty funny.
we couldn't help but overhear eunchae and kazuha's argument.
"I can't believe you're playing games when you're supposed to be working," kazuha said, her voice tinged with frustration.
"I'm not playing games, I'm restocking the shelves," eunchae replied, pouting.
kazuha let out a long sigh. "I'm sorry, I'm just really tired. this job is starting to get to me," she said, sounding defeated.
oh man. kinda sad but it's not my problem 🫢
