Ranea missed school. I hadn't even talked to her since the slumber party. I was upset at the outcome. Her method of defense was not enough. Chelsea and Naiya ran the slumber party like it was theirs. Ranea didn't try to take back the control. She complied with every thing that happened. She defended me with the purpose of saying that she did. There was so much more to this. Ranea failed me with the lack of power.

For most of the day, I zoned out. With a chill running through me, a thought nagged me in the back of my brain. This strong feeling strengthened the more I stayed in my mind. Somehow, it was the fact that Ranea and I's friendship was broken again.  The emotions swallowed me.

When Ranea was absent from school again, that confirmed it. She didn't contact me, but I didn't contact her either. Worried sunk in me. I composed myself on the outside. On the inside, there was chaos. For the third day, I set aside my differences and called her, but she didn't answer. It was unlike her to miss school like this. Only thing I can do is wait until the week over to see what's going on.

Someone tapped my shoulder as I was leaving to go home. I whirled around to see Tony again.

"Miesha. I thought that was you."

"Hey Tony."

"Where are you heading off to?" He asked.

"Home."

"Oh cool."

We were in complete silence. I battled in my head if I wanted to ask about Devin. He wasn't at school either. Since him and Ranea both missed school, I thought it may have something to do with him. Devin negatively influenced her. I wouldn't be surprised if they cut school together. Maybe that was why she didn't answer.

"So how's it going?"  Tony asked.

"Have you seen Ranea or Devin?"  I blurted out.

I wished I could take those words and shove them back in my mouth. Because Tony frowned at the question. I remembered when he was upset with Ranea. She kept asking him about Devin, and it irritated him.

"No, I'm not keeping track of them."

"Sorry. It's just Ranea hasn't been to school in days. Devin hasn't either."

He shrugged. "Typical Devin."

"Not typical for Ranea though."

"She is with him."

I squint my eyes at him. "You support all this."

"That has nothing to do with me."

"Whatever."

I attempted to get away from him, but he pulled me back right into his chest. My body stiffened at how close we were.

"Don't be like that. I don't get in their relationship. Whatever they decide to do is their business," he said close to my ear.

"She is my friend. I care about her." I pushed away from him and left.

I called Ranea again on the way home. No answer. I quit trying to contact her. There was no use if she didn't want to talk. Waiting was my best option.

Bridget sat on the couch in the living room. I started to think she purposely did it to find an excuse to talk to me.

"Hey, how was school?"

I pretended to not hear her. When I reached the steps, she stopped me.

"I have some clothes from Paris. I think you might can fit them. You can have them."

"No I don't want any of your clothes."

"Miesha, it doesn't have to be like this."

"Excuse me. Your're in my way." I brushed pass her to the stairs.
