He stepped closer to us. Behind him were few other guys I hadn't seen before.

Malesha stood beside me with her eyes widened. There was a mixture of shock and nervousness. She moved back away from Devin.

"Hey baby. Where are you doing on this side of town? It's not safe around here for you," he said.

"First of all, that's not my name. And why do you care Devin?" I asked.

"Because I care about you Miesha."

"Whatever Devin. I don't really care for you because of the way you did me and how you're doing Ranea right now."

"I wouldn't have to if you would have had my back like I had yours. You were unappreciative of me. I had to get someone who did," he said.

"I won't stand here and talk to you." I turned my back on him. "Malesha can we go?"

She nodded her head pulling out her keys. We started toward the car, but Devin grabbed my arm and spun me around. He pulled me close to his chest.

"Don't turn your back on me Miesha. That's disrespectful," he said.

I tried prying his hands off me. "Get your hands off me," I demanded.

"No. Not until you say sorry for turning your back on me."

"But I'm not sorry." I struggled. His hold on me was tight.

"Really?"

"Let her go," Malesha told him.

"You stay out this sweetheart. This is between me and her," he ordered.

I kept struggling. He wasn't going to loosen his grip.

"I don't want to fight you Miesha. Just say sorry, and I'll let you go."

I started moving wildly. I squirmed so much that I kicked him in his leg. He let go then holding his it. Once he looked up at me, I saw rage in his eyes.

"I can't believe you just did that."        Devin stalked toward me grabbing me again and starting shaking me violently.

"Yo what the hell is your problem? I told you I wasn't going to fight you, and you go and kick me. Do you think I'm a bitch? You think you can be violent toward me, and I can't get violent back just cause you a girl," he yelled in my face.

The tears ran down my face as he kept shaking me hard. I felt another pair of hands on me pulling in the opposite direction.

"Back off," he yelled at Malesha.

He let go of me again. I went falling backwards and was caught by Malesha. I looked at Devin, and he was looking right back at me. Behind the tears, I felt myself heat up in anger. Acting on impulse, I stalked to Devin slapping him right across his face causing everyone to gasp.

"How dare you put your hands on me?" I screamed.

I instantly regretted my decision when I saw his shocked face. His nostrils flared, he came to me slapping me back, which caused another reaction.

"I never hit you Miesha. And you gone put your hands on me like that. It's girls like you that make guys want to hit them. Not once did I hit you. But you gone hit me and slap me. Hell no. I'm no punk bitch. You won't-"

He didn't finish cause I started punching on him. In this time, I blanked out. He had his hand up at first until he grabbed my fist pushing me down. I fell down on the concrete scraping both of my hands.

I was crying so hard that I didn't hear what was going on. All I knew was the next minute, Malesha was quickly helping me up. And Devin was being held back by his friends while he struggled to get out.
