Error ran towards the village. There was a cloak over him and his wings were hidden from the rest of the world. He had masked his demonic scent to prevent his brother from knowing that he was there.

Walking around the town center, he listened to the people around him. There were whispers of a stranger that was asking around for a demon. What Error's brother did not know was that he had made a promise to the people. Error will only continue to protect them if they kept his true identity a secret from outsiders.

The demon walked into the tavern. He scanned the many people that sat at tables while drinking beer. Most of them were outsiders, being previously wounded and healed by Ink. However there was one that was out of place in a place like this. There was a stranger that wore a cloak not of this realm. Error could instantly smell that he was of the same race.

Error was unable to know which brother it was as he could not see their face but he had a small feeling who it was.

The demon sighed quietly before leaving the tavern. His brother did not seem to be causing any trouble at the moment so he needed to return home and check on Ink.

Error thought to himself while walking down the dirt path to the edge of town. He was fearful that the intruder will find Ink. Demons found pleasure in killing the loved ones of their victims, to make them feel despair before their own death.

The demon could not risk that happening. Even though he did not want to, he might have to keep the mortal asleep in order to keep him hidden and safe from his brother. Error was in fact the least brutal out of his family, his two brothers were far worse.

Before Error could reach the edge of town, he heard a voice behind him.

???: Little brother.

The demon turned around, soon seeing which brother it was. It was the middle child, Fresh. Error responded to him in their native tongue.

Error: Why are you here?

Fresh: I came to check on you as it has been some time since we last saw each other.

Error: You saw me. Now you can leave. I have perfect control over this village, this is my territory.

Fresh started giggling before bursting out into hysterical laughter.

Fresh: Do you really think that I believe you? I can clearly tell that you have abandoned the truth and adopted the life of these inferiors. What happened to all the bloodshed that you use to spill in the name of our honor? You convinced the leaders to come here so you could personally destroy the mortal race.

  The older demon sighed.

Fresh: Geno is not going to be very happy when he hears about this.

Error: Fine, tell him, as long as you leave. If you ever come back, I will not hesitate to cut your head off.

To be honest, Error was terrified. Geno was the most dangerous of the three as he was the oldest. He was the one that killed their parents when they were no longer useful for reproduction.

Fresh shrugged and began walking away but turned around to face his little brother one more time.

Fresh: I know you are hiding your loved one from me, Error. I hope you understand that their life is endangered because you betrayed your own people.

The older demon revealed his true features.

Fresh: You have a few days to take control of this village and destroy it before Geno and I return. If you do, perhaps Geno will spare your love... or at least give them a chance to run before he kills them.

Error's brother flew off and disappeared behind the mountain. The demon released a breath of relief before returning home.

He pushed open the door and looked around. Calmness came to him when he saw Ink sitting on the couch and drawing. The mortal seemed to not notice as he was too focused, which had brought a smile to Error.

He went to the sofa, bent down and placed a small kiss on Ink's forehead. The mortal looked up and returned the happiness.

Error sat next to his partner. Ink laid down and rested his head on his love's leg.

Error: How did you sleep?

Ink: Like I was knocked out.

Error: It is better than no sleep.

Ink: I suppose.

The demon gently pet the farm boy's head. While they sat there in the living room together, Error could not help but think about...
