Ink and Error walked down the path, their fingers intertwined as they held hands. Ink glanced at the demon and frowned. He noticed that lately Error has shut off from the people of the village and became more serious, losing his curiosity and kindness to others. The couple entered a home. They were needed there because an older woman was needing care. Ink was happy to give her the love that was missing in her household.
Ink: Vanessa?
The mortal called out into the house and soon found her in the kitchen. Ink smiled as he greeted the elderly woman warmly.
Ink: How are you feeling?
Vanessa: A little tired but I feel good, little one.
Ink: Here, I brought your medicine.
Next to the front door stood Error. He watched Ink and Vanessa chat and cook together. The moment reminded the demon of Lily. It was simpler times, when the mortal was just learning his job, Error was learning about love, and he did not have to worry about Ink's safety.
Ink: Error, come here.
Error: What is it?
Vanessa: You looked lonely standing in that corner. How are you, boy?
Error: Fine.
The old woman smiled. Ink noticed the demon's one-word response. It only worried him more. From what he heard from Tabet, the heroine wanted him for the military's gain. Perhaps, if Ink left for the kingdom, it might make Error worry less. A village this small was more vulnerable to a demon attack anyway.
(Time Skip)
Ink entered the living room from the front door. He had just finished the rest of his tasks for the day. Error no longer allowed him to deliver the orders so he now had to wait.
The mortal saw Error in the kitchen, cooking dinner for the night. There was a strange quietness that Ink could almost feel. To him, it almost felt like silent rage.
Ink approached Error and stood next to him at the counter. However he was not acknowledged. It seemed that the demon was too deep in thought to notice anything around him.
The mortal lightly tapped on Error's shoulder which was able to bring the attention to him. Error turned his body towards Ink and pulled him into a hug.
Ink gently kissed Error. The demon accepted the gesture and felt a comforting feeling warm his body. The kiss slowly became more passionate but Ink pulled away, despite Error wanting to continue.
Error: Why did you pull away, Ink?
Ink: You are still cooking. I do not want to accidentally burn the house down.
Error: Oh right.
Ink watched the demon cook. The mortal was always impressed how he cooked as it was far different from how mortals did it.
While they were eating their cooked meal, there was a knock on the door. Ink got up from the table to answer it. When the door was opened he was greeted with the heroine.
Error could feel his soul stop beating and his anger reappeared.
Heroine: Comyet. I need you to come with me to the kingdom. Your service is required there.
Error: He will not serve you!
The demon yelled, standing from the table and joining Ink's side.
Heroine: He does not have a choice, unless you want to stop me. However that would you make an enemy to this country.
Error clenched his hands, feeling that his magic was surfacing. He needed to keep his true identity hidden from her.
Ink: It is okay, Error. I will be okay there.
Ink said to keep his lover from causing a scene. Error released a sigh.
Error: Fine but I am coming with you.
Error and Ink were given a few minutes to pack their clothing and things so they would be moved from the village to the kingdom. The demon was worried that Ink could possibly get hurt if he were to serve the military.
Once they were ready they prepared to leave. However before they could leave for the kingdom, they heard screams of terror from the village. Ink pushed past the woman and Error and ran towards the town. The demon rushed after his love.
Error: Ink! Wait! We do not know what the threat is!
Ink was not listening which only added to Error's concern. Instant fear came to the both of them when they saw a winged being. Their wings were black and they had a pair of horns. The most noticeable feature about him was that he only had one working eye, the other was covered with strange magic.
The town square was littered with bodies and blood stained the walls of the buildings and stone paths.
Error instantly recognized the mysterious person and grabbed Ink by the arm. Fear filled his soul.
Error: Ink, you need to leave.
Ink: Why?
Error: You are in danger.
Ink: Who is he? Do you know him?
The demon nodded, gripping Ink's arm tighter.
Error: A very dangerous being from the underworld. He is... my brother...
