The morning sun had just barely rose when Error woke up. He saw Ink sleeping peacefully, his expression having no discomfort. A smile came to Error's face as he gently ran his thumb across Ink's cheek.

The demon had learned so much over the past two years that he had lived in this village. He was able to discover the feelings that his own kind had forbidden, especially love.

As Error laid there with his mortal partner, his mind wondered. Eventually it landed on his old mission, killing mortals and letting the demons take over. However his plan was stopped when that hero girl decided to stab him with her sword and injuring him in that forest.

He had to admit, he was honestly grateful that she tried to kill him. If not, he would have destroyed this village and he would have never met Ink.

A knock on the front door interrupted his thoughts. He took a quick glance at Ink, making sure not to wake him up as he got up from the bed.

Error hid his wings while he made his way to the door. Opening it, he was met with the woman, the hero girl. Luckily he was smart enough to disguise himself as mortal beforehand.

Error: How can I help you?

He hid what was left of his native accent and replaced it with a more local one. She did not seem to recognize him which was good for him.

Heroine: I'm looking for a demon. I heard there was one in this village.

Error: A... A demon?

  Error made himself sound scared.

Heroine: Yes. I know there is one as I can sense it nearby. Can I search through the house, it might be hiding in there.

Error: Of course. Do come in.

He allowed the woman to enter his home. As she looked around, he couldn't help but glare at her. Error thought of the worst ways to kill her but that would be indulging in his demonic instincts. He just hoped that she wouldn't wake Ink up.

The woman turned around towards Error and lifted her hand in front of her. Magic slowly lifted from her palm and formed a small orb. The demon recognized it, a type of magic that could detect a lie. She was going to question him.

Heroine: Have you experienced any strange magic?

Error: No.

The orb turned green, Error was not lying as he never saw his own magic as strange.

Heroine: Have you seen any large black feathers recently.

Error: No, not recently.

Green again. If someone knew the way around a detection spell, they could lie for as long as they wanted. Though Error has seen black feathers before, he has not seen them in over two years.

The heroine stared at the orb for a second before putting away the magic. She headed towards the front door but looked back at the demon.

Heroine: One more question. Have you ever wanted to fly?

Error: I'm so busy with the ranch work, I never have time to think about something like that.

Heroine: Very well. I will be staying in the village for a while. Let me know if you spot anything out of the ordinary. All demons need to die. They are nothing but low life beasts that stain the purity of our kind.

Error nodded, watching as the woman walked away back to town. There was yawn that came from behind him. Turning around, Error saw Ink standing there.

Ink: Who was that?

Error: No one, Ink. Just the "hero" that is trying to save the world by killing me.

The farm boy's rainbow eyelights widened. The expression on his face was fearful. He rushed to the front door and looked out. He watched as the woman walked away to the town.

Ink left the cabin and headed towards the shed. Error looked confused as he followed behind the mortal. He watched as Ink dug through the chest that contained potions.

Error: What are you doing?

Ink: I need to be prepared if she hurts you. Hopefully I have something that can heal deep wounds. I can not lose you too, just like I lost Lily.

Ink's voice began to slightly shake. Black tears rolled down his cheeks which made Error realize, Ink was genuinely afraid.

The demon sighed before grabbing the mortal. He pulled him up and turned the farm boy towards him. Error embraced Ink into a hug, allowing him to control his breathing again.

Error: It will be okay, Ink. Trust me. I will protect the both of us.

The demon thought about the hero and her goal. She could assume Ink to be a demon if he was not careful with his words and potions. He thought for a second and somewhat growled. If she ever decided to hurt Ink...

Error would kill her
