It was 5 a.m. in the Hatake house. Naruto woke up naturally at this time, his body being used to it. He started his day with moderate exercise, not doing anything too crazy because he still had a "test" to do. He could pass this test easy. All he had to do is ask Sasuke to work with him, then Sakura would follow like a love sick puppy. It was almost too easy. There was a tiny chance Sakura would try and go solo, then go rouge in the test, but he knew she wouldn't do that to her "Sasuke-kun". After he finished he went in to eat a heavy breakfast. He only hoped his to be determined teammates had realized that Kakashi Sensei's order to not eat was a hidden test. For Kyuubi's sake how do you expect to perform with an empty stomach? Shaking his head from any more distractions, he looked at the clock, and noticed it was half past nine. With a happy nod, he pulled out his godfather's wonderful work of literature, and slowly wandered through the village. Heading in the general direction to Training ground 7. Along the way he found Kakashi at the memorial stone. He stopped to pay respect to the honorable heroes, who sacrificed their lives to make sure this village remains as safe as possible. His eyes lingered on his parents names, making him smile in lament. He felt Kakashi's hand on his left shoulder. He looked over, and nodded in appreciation.
With that they slowly made there way to the training ground, figuring that Sakura, and Sasuke had waited long enough for there arrival. When they got there it was quarter to eleven. Meaning he had made them wait for 5 hours and 45 minutes. He eye smiled. He then heard Sakura about to shout, when Kakashi's shunshinned behind her, scaring the living daylights out of her. "Good morning everyone! I hope you're ready for the test!" Sakura grumbled about lazy mask wearing weirdos. Ignoring her completely, Kakashi continued.
"In this test, your going to be on a faux mission. Your objective is this: get these bells." He retrieved two bells from his kunai pouch. "You'll also have to get them by noon!"
"Sensei, why are there only two bells?" Asked the pinkette.
"Good observation my cute little genin, you see only two of you can get a bell, meaning one of you gets sent back to the academy!"
It dawns on Sasuke and Sakura, that this won't be as cut and dry as they hoped. Naruto on the other hand saw right through this, but kept it to himself, in hopes in seeing the others to try to figure it out on their own. Kakashi spoke up again. "Also the one who fails doesn't get lunch. The rest will eat right in front of him or her." At this Naruto and Kakashi heard two loud growls. They chuckled at this, then Kakashi set the timer. "Alright everyone, your time starts in 3." Everyone got in a ready position. "2" Naruto disappeared in a gust of wind, leaving no trace. "1" Sakura and Sasuke tensed up in anticipation. "GO!!" With that they took off into the trees.
Kakashi reached out with all his senses. He could see Sakura's hair in one of the trees about 100 meters north of his location. He could barely smell Sasuke half a kilometer west southwest, and as usual, Naruto is off the radar completely. With this information, he reached in his kunai pouch. Sakura got ready to run. Sasuke was watching patiently with binoculars. Getting ready to move. Naruto was nowhere to be found. When all of a sudden they saw him fish out a little orange book. Sakura fell out of her tree in surprise, Sasuke sweatdropped at the situation. Naruto was still nowhere to be found. Sakura dashed to a new location to get a better vantage point, while Sasuke started racing towards Kakashi's location. It's when Kakashi's decided to put some pressure on his to be students. He found Sakura quite quickly. He put her in a discreet genjutsu, and set her against a tree passed out. He walked away, then felt himself about to get impaled by shuriken. Sasuke watched with intense focus with a touch of dread as he saw the shuriken connect. What shocked him though when he saw Kakashi substituting himself with a log, he jumped out to another tree to hide when he heard Kakashi clear his throat behind him. He leapt through the air onto the ground where Kakashi met him in a one sided taijutsu battle. Sasuke through a left hook, Kakashi caught it. Sasuke through a right jab, and Kakashi's caught that one as well. When he went for a kick, Kakashi quickly threw Sasuke's arms to the sides and swept his legs out from underneath him. Sasuke caught himself with a backwards cartwheel, righting himself. He then jumped back doing the hand seals for the fireball technique. He fired a large ball of flames at Kakashi. When they died down he saw Kakashi had mysteriously disappeared. He looked up, left, right, and behind him, but there was no trace. He felt his feet get grabbed, and got drug into the ground. It was then, he realized, his body was buried up to his neck. Kakashi appeared in front of him, crouching to look down at him. He eye smiled then disappeared in a swirl of leaves. Sakura was being carried by Naruto when she came to. He was leaping silently through the trees, despite wearing heavy armor. She clung to him tightly as they dropped down to Sasuke. Naruto dug him out, and motioned them to follow. On the way he explains that he was a shadow clone, and the real one was hidden. He also explained there was another clone distracting Kakashi Sensei. He told them his plan, and to wait for his shadow clone to get dispelled by Kakashi to execute his plan, he explained that Kakashi wants to separate them. It was another one of his hidden tests.
Kakashi was receiving an onslaught of attacks. He was fighting against Naruto, who had finally shown his face. He made sure to stay out of range of Naruto's long, sharp spear. Naruto feinted to Kakashi's right, which resulted in Kakashi getting a shallow cut across his chest. It wasn't bleeding much, but hurt like hell every time he moved, so with no choice, he chose to retreat. Which was a mistake. You see when Naruto had disappeared, he sent a hundred and fifty clones to set up traps everywhere. All of them hidden perfectly. When Naruto's clone appeared in front of Kakashi, Naruto got punched in the side of his head. He flew back against a tree. He sat up against the tree, then chuckled, "Better luck next time, eh sensei?" With that Naruto proofed out of existence. Kakashi's eye widened, then took an unfortunate step back. He stepped on a land mine. He jumped speedily away, the explosion singeing his clothes, and fell right into a pit fall trap. He jumped off the side, then ran up the side of the trap, before he could get impaled on the sharpened stakes at the bottom. He ran out, only to step on a tripe wire that triggered tear gas. He ran out of the smoke to stop his eyes from watering. He was gagging his lungs out when he heard kunai being hurled at him at high speeds, he shunshinned away to recover. He was trying to escape the forest alive. He completely forgot about the bells and the test. The traps he ran across nearly killed him. He almost got hit by a swinging log. He got caught in the arm by a branch with sharpened spikes. He broke his leg getting hit by a small boulder. He got his other arm impaled by senbon coated in a paralyzing agent. He had lots of bruises, several broken ribs, covered in cuts and scrapes, and he was exhausted. He ran into the clearing where they all had first gathered. He saw all three of his students attack all at once. Sasuke went high, Naruto low. While Sakura snuck from behind. Sakura snagged both bells while Sasuke slugged Kakashi across the face, then Naruto spartan kicked him in the balls. Dirty move, yes but completely normal for shinobi to do. Which was why Kakashi wasn't even mad as he went down hard. He was simply in too much pain. As they were about to knock him unconscious, Kakashi was literally saved by the bell. Sighing with pain filled relief. Kakashi congrats them for passing as a team then slowly made his way to the Hokage's office.
Hiruzen was listening to Asuma, his son, and Kurenai about how they passed their teams. Kakashi as usual arrived late, but looked like he lost an argument with a bear. Everyone was shocked. He explained how his Team passed. Everyone was surprised that Sasuke new a fire technique. They were shocked at how ruthless Naruto was. Seeing Kakashi's condition, they were now fearful of Naruto. Kakashi underestimated Naruto by not paying him any mind, and paid the price. Even still they couldn't blame Kakashi for trying. He got lured into the hornets nest, and barley made it out alive. What made them full of dread was that Naruto only used Shadow clones, and traps. After Kakashi was done talking he promptly fell unconscious. The Hokage signaled one of the ANBU to take Kakashi to the hospital. He then made three shadow clones to do his paperwork as he went to find Naruto. He felt as if congratulations were in order.
He found Naruto sitting on top of the Fourth Hokage's stone head, seemingly at peace. He brought some ramen, sat down next to him, and ate silently. They finished their meal and silently waited some more until the sun was dipping below the horizon.
"I heard you gave Kakashi quite the thrashing today?"
Naruto hummed in confirmation.
"That's great, well not for Kakashi, but this means your training has paid off. With more experience, you'll easily be kage level all across the board in your abilities by the Chunin exams." Naruto nodded at this knowing that Hiruzen was right.
"Which is why I want you to start coming to the office after missions and training. I want you to start helping me with my paperwork, I want to start hearing your input on a few things, then let you make a few decisions. All to make sure you learn what it takes to be a Kage."
Naruto was thoroughly impressed, as he wasn't expecting this. He was actually under the impression of he was going to be chastised for being too rough on his sensei. He was very wrong in thinking that though. He focused back on the setting Sun. Watching it bath the village in a harmless colorful flame. He watched as businesses close for the day, and shinobi heading home, or for the bars to drink the night, and the day's troubles away. He spoke up, "I suppose your right. I'll surpass all the Hokage, becoming the greatest of all time. Once I've killed the one who caused Kurama to attack, I'll be at peace knowing that he's finally been taken care of. Then I'll turn my attention on making peace with the other villages. It's time we buried the hatchet, and let old grudges go. Learn to forgive. Dattebayo." Hiruzen was impressed by Naruto's speech, and smiled at the end. One because he completely believes Naruto was capable of pulling it off, also because Naruto's verbal tick resurfaced, and he didn't seem to notice or care. Chuckling to himself he wished Naruto good night, and went to lock up the office for the night.
Naruto awoke at five in the morning. He ate then started to practice with his dojutsu. While he did this, he made a thousand shadow clones to speedily complete the Flying ThunderGod Technique. He was on the cusp of completing it. He was also improving it simultaneously. He cracked the code years ago, which was why improving an amazing technique was taking longer than he thought. The flash was still there, but it now left after images to confuse the enemy. He could now stick it in all surfaces including the air. He altered the jutsu to turn the kunai semi invisible. To make it harder to detect. He also wanted to put chakra concealment seals on the blades. To stop sensors and dojutsu like the Byakugan or Sharingan from seeing them coming. Extremely overpowering, but what part about him isn't already. He has two legendary dojutsu, can completely use Kurama's chakra at his fullest potential. He has The Mokuton, all five elements, and could combine them into sub elements. He is considered a master of both traps and seals. He is good in medical jutsu, can walk on air, and was borderline kage already. He was about two tails worth of chakra, and has full mastery over it. So pretty powerful already, the only things holding him back was experience. Which was about to be rectified. Other than him letting all this power get to his head, he is as right as rain. Naruto felt all his clones expel, which caused him to get a mild headache at the influx of memories flooding in. He sat in the lotus position, and tried to collect his thoughts.
He remembers achieving his goal with the Hiraishin. Then testing it before dispelling. He smiled widely, then excitedly tested it once more to see if it wasn't a fluke. He tossed three tri-pronged kunai onto a tree, on the surface of a pond, and to his amazement, in the air. He saw them all stick in there respective state of matter, then disappeared in an afterimage and a flash. Proud of his work, he made his way to team training. He got there, did some teamwork drills, got Sasuke and Sakura to train chakra control, and physical exercise. Followed by taijutsu practice, with some tips on ninjutsu and genjutsu. After which was missions, or as Naruto explicitly calls them, chores the villagers are to lazy to do themselves. Regardless though, Naruto pulls through every time, albeit some complaining here and there. After that Naruto cleaned himself up, got dressed in a plain kimono, and geta. He went to the Hokage's office to start learning the ins and outs of being Hokage. He stayed there till just before sundown where he went home, ate dinner, and called it a night. This continued. Day in, day out. For the next two weeks. Until Team 7 get there first C ranked mission.
