Chapter 12

Naruto awoke to predawn light, casting his room in hues of pink, purple, and red. He sat up in his bed, and stretched. His movement caused the trio of girls to stir. Which caused them to groggily wake up with him. Naruto leapt over the girls, and out of bed with grace. Naruto went over to his wardrobe to get dressed.
Since he had work to do that day, he went with the outfit he wore when he demolished the Genin. This time he kept his armor on. He sent a shadow clone to get breakfast started, and he set out to look at the seal he was going to use today. It was crucial he got every single detail down to the smallest line, dot, or other such things. Wouldn't want to turn the barrier seal into the world's strongest prison seal.
He heard shuffling behind him, and saw Ino, Tenten, and Haku getting dressed. He smiled slightly, and went back to studying. He was able to get it all down by the time they were done. He opened the door to his room, and let them out into the hall. He followed soon after, shutting the door behind him as he went downstairs into the dining room.
Sitting in his golden throne, he waited for breakfast to be served. Haku sat next to him, whilst the other to found seats close to him. Haku was wondering what the schedule would be for the day, so she promptly asked him. "Naruto-kun? What are we doing today?" Haku asked politely.
"I, am going with Jiraya to set up this barrier, and get it up and running. I will then take Team 7, along with a small battalion of ROOT to the border of Fire Country to set up the other seal. You and Zabuza will obviously have to go with, but as for Tenten and Ino, that's up to their teams and their sensei. I personally want them here, training to prepare for these exams, and hopefully, not an invasion." Naruto said.
A knock was heard on the front door. Zabuza walked down the stairs to investigate, his hand on the handle of his sword. A bit of quiet grumbling later, and a dejected Zabuza lead Kakashi, Jiraya, and Danzo into the dining room. It seemed Zabuza was hoping it would be intruders, because he had been itching for a fight ever since he heard about the incoming invasion. Naruto rolled his eyes at how bloodthirsty Zabuza was at times.
Though he couldn't blame him, as he himself was itching to finally show the entire world what he was capable of. So he didn't say anything to the grumbling assassin. Instead he nodded to his guests in greetings. He made another clone to bring tea and coffee to them. When the clone did, everyone thanked their host.
Naruto immediately adopted a professional look. He spoke up, and addressed everyone that was Jonin or higher. "Alright, after breakfast, we are going to put up the new barriers. Here's a copy of the seal that I want you to use. Danzo, have Jiraya help instruct your ROOT on how to set up the seals. Kakashi, I'll do the same with you. We'll divide the village into four sections, then put up the barriers. I ask you to make sure you have comms for this job, that way we can turn on the barrier, and make sure that it works properly.
After that, we'll head towards the Hokage's tower to get debriefed on the mission to the border. Hopefully by then, Danzo will have organized a battalion of ROOT agents to help cover the border. We need to get this done within 24 hours. We do this discreetly, and quietly. Our enemies absolutely cannot find out about these seals in order for them to be most effective.
Just take extra care when near the country of Grass. Iwa absolutely cannot know I'm nearby beefing up defenses. It will 100% cause a retaliation, and I don't want to cause an international crisis because Iwa got pissy. Let's get this job done ASAP." He said.
Everyone nodded, and breakfast was brought in for them to eat. The girls partook in hushed conversation about recent events. Naruto pulled out a scroll that contained the sensory seals that were going on the border. Danzo was sitting next to him, opposite the girls. He was watching Naruto make a few edits to the seals, as he swept his gaze up and down the scroll.
Jiraya was watching him, and the girls simultaneously. He was taking notes for his books, and to help point out some things, in case Naruto's relative inexperience caused a few small issues. He was already deeply impressed by what Naruto has already created. He shoveled a large spoonful of food into his mouth, and went back to his books. Unfortunately for The Sannin, he was caught. By Naruto.
"Care to explain what you're doing, Jiraya?" Naruto asked.
Everyone froze, as they recognized the tone he used. He sounded pretty angry. Jiraya, looked up from his notebook, and tried to play it off.
"Well, I was looking at the seal you're going through, and was taking notes, just in case you needed a second opinion on it?" Jiraya said, hoping desperately that Naruto would buy it. He did not.
"Oh really? Because I was watching you for the past minute, and it looked like you were ogling the girls. Taking notes about them. I'll tell you what, you hand over that notebook, or you can take your lumps. Your choice." Naruto said, as he slowly stood up, his killing intent and blood lust slowly increasing. It was quickly joined by the girls, as they realized what Naruto was talking about.
Jiraya didn't feel like doing either, and was about to make a run for it. Until Kubikiribocho was blocking his exit. Nothing but pure bloodlust was radiating off of Zabuza, as he finally had someone to take his pent up energy on. Jiraya looked to Kakashi and Danzo for help. They were suddenly interested in their food, and promptly ignored The Gama Sennin.
The white haired Sannin was now cursing himself, as he had no way out. So to save him a nasty beating, he promptly handed over his notebook. Naruto swiftly snatched the book, and began to go through it. Seeing that it was full of smut, he tossed it in the air, and shot a small fireball at the notebook. Jiraya watched with a depressed expression as he watch the book get turned to ash.
Naruto smirked at his godfather's misfortune, and signaled for everyone to stand down. He then gathered his things, finished off his breakfast, and waited by the front door. He didn't wait long, as soon enough, Jiraya, Kakashi, Danzo, and Zabuza walked up to him. Waiting for him to take the lead. He walked out the door, and as soon as he did, he handed Jiraya and Danzo a half dozen sealing tags each.
"Kakashi, you and I will take the South and West walls. Jiraya, you take Danzo to the North and East walls. We place them out as evenly as we can. When you're done, use the comms to let us know. Meet at the very top of Jiji's tower. Let's do this." Naruto said, delegating tasks to his current team.
"Hai!" Everyone replied.
Naruto smiled, then motioned to Kakashi to follow. The silver haired Jonin followed closely behind Naruto, and they sped across the rooftops towards the southern wall. When they made it there, they each made a shadow clone. They gave their clones three tags each, and they spread out, and began to put the tags on the top of the walls. When they were done, meaning Naruto double checked that everything was perfect, they made their way to the western wall.
Repeating the same process, they quickly finished their last wall. Naruto buzzed Jiraya, and let him know they were done. He got confirmation of Danzo and him being done as well. With great haste, Kakashi and Naruto sped their way as fast as they could to the top of The Hokage's Tower. It took them ten minutes, but they made it.
Just before Jiraya and Danzo did too.
"Alright sit back, relax, and watch my handiwork. Well, maybe the Hokage should watch as well." Naruto said.
He threw down a Hiraishin kunai, and jumped down the side of the building. After a couple minutes, a flash of yellow and white appeared, and the Hokage looked around in a slight daze.
"Well, it most certainly has been a while since Minato used the Hiraishin to teleport us somewhere. Enough of that though. Naruto, please activate the new barrier." Hiruzen said.
Naruto smirked, and put his hands together in the Serpent hand sign. He channeled his chakra, and suddenly, the entire wall was covered by a ginormous yellow dome. Hiruzen, Danzo, Jiraya, and Kakashi looked at the barrier as it flared to life. Their jaws dropped at how stunning it was. Naruto had the biggest grin on his face, and he started to celebrate his success.
"YEAH!! THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! DID YOU GUYS SEE THAT!? It worked! IT WORKS!!!" Naruto shouted out in pure joy.
Everyone on top of the roof just smiled at how happy Naruto was. Jiraya felt proud at what his godson did, and knew if Minato was still alive, he would be absolutely thrilled to see his son's accomplishment. He smiled sadly at the thought of Minato, and blinked back tears. Naruto whirled around to address the Hokage, and caught Jiraya holding back tears. He smiled, as he could guess what the old Sannin was thinking about.
He then turned his attention toward Hiruzen. "Well, how about that other seal, shall we get going? The sooner the better." Naruto said.
"You may go. Kakashi? Gather your team, and meet Naruto by the gates as soon as possible. This will go as an S-Rank on your record. Now go!" The Hokage said.
With that, everyone took off to do their jobs. Danzo went to get his ROOT ready for the mission. Kakashi went to gather Sasuke and Sakura. Naruto went to get Zabuza and Haku, then meet at the gates. Naruto went inside his home, and called out to Haku and Zabuza.
"Haku! Zabuza! Gather your things! We leave ASAP! Meet me by the door!" Naruto bellowed.
Naruto flashed into his office, and began to gather his supplies. He was a blur of yellow the whole time, and when he was done, he bolted out the office. He quickly made it to the front door, and saw Zabuza and Haku waiting. He nodded, and began to double check everyone's supplies. Satisfied with what they had, lead the way to the gates.
Sasuke felt a cold breeze go past him, and turned around to see Naruto. He nodded to the blonde, who motioned him to get closer. Curious, Sasuke did as he was told. Naruto pulled out a scroll, and tossed it to The Uchiha. Sasuke caught it, and looked at Naruto confused.
"Open it, it's a gift. To signify how far you've come under my tutelage." Naruto explained.
Sasuke unfurled the scroll, and channeled chakra into the seal matrix inside it. Smoke billowed out of the scroll. When it cleared, a set of armor, a shield, and a spear was revealed. Sasuke looked at Naruto in half surprise and excitement. Naruto soon began explaining to Sasuke on how to put on his armor, and how to hold his shield. Soon enough, the sound of a hundred muffled footsteps came echoing down the street.
Danzo was seen leading literally an entire battalion of ROOT soldiers. He nodded to Naruto, and raised a brow when he saw the Sasuke's current attire. Naruto caught him staring, and scratched the back of his head sheepishly. Kakashi huffed in amusement at the situation. Sakura was too busy drooling over how cool "her" Sasuke looked.
Naruto, then began handing out multiple seals. He had made hundreds of them, so he can effectively shorten the time this mission took to complete. Danzo and Kakashi looked at one of the seals they were using, and could barely comprehend what a third of it actually did. Sasuke was completely lost when he looked at his, and Sakura didn't really bother looking at hers.
The ROOT just stood there, each with dozens of seals now in their pouches. They were waiting patiently, and quietly for Naruto to get going.
"Alright, Danzo, take your root and start going to the remote pets of the border of Fire Country. Start placing tags on the border. Kakashi's team and mine will head to the checkpoints to put the other half of the seal in place. The sooner we get done, the less likely our over curious neighbors will catch wind of what we're doing. Let's move!" Naruto ordered.
Everyone nodded, except ROOT, and took off quickly towards the border. They were determined to finish this mission. Along the way, Danzo led his ROOT off into the forest, not to be seen again until they met back at the village. Naruto then split off from Kakashi's team. He took Zabuza and Haku towards some other checkpoints.
When they got there, the team that normally was there checking people into the country, stared at them in confusion.
"Halt! Zabuza, surrender yourself now, and we won't resort to..." The Team Leader said, until thunder boomed and a sharp spear, sparking with electricity was at his throat. Naruto had red eyes, and an impatient look on his face.
"Stand down Chunin... He is a vassal to The Uzumaki Clan. My Clan! We are here on orders of the Hokage." Naruto challenged the Shinobi.
"Show me then, and watch your tongue, you stupid fucking..." The Chunin tried saying, before a large blade was pressed against his spine.
"Finish that sentence... please? It's been so long since my blade has been drenched in blood... Come on, you're so close." Zabuza said, daring him to say something else.
"First of all, I am the current Head of The Uzumaki Clan, I am also a Jonin, therefore outranking you. Second, I'm on a classified mission, so you can take yourself, your thumbs, and shove them up your ass, then kindly fuck off!" Naruto said, anger slowly rising.
The chunin team paled when they heard that, and it didn't help that both Zabuza and Naruto were radiating bloodlust and killing intent. The lead chunin nodded slightly, as he was trembling in fear. As fast as they came, the very sharp weapons were pulled back, and at the ready. Naruto told Zabuza to stand guard, and asked Haku to help him prepare the checkpoint. She nodded, a little nervous around the other team.
When they finished, Naruto slapped on the seal, and made a clone to be on standby to activate it. When they were finished, they proceeded to the other checkpoints. The rest went without a hitch. Naruto then grabbed onto his team, and flashed towards Kakashi's location. In a blur of afterimages, they appeared behind Team 7.
"Yosh! How's it going Kakashi? How many seals did you put down?"
"Good, we are on our last one now. When we get done, radio Danzo to do a check up on how his end is going." Kakashi said, keeping an eye on his two Genin.
Nodding, Naruto buzzed Danzo, and asked him about the progress with the rest of the border. Turns out he was already done. Naruto whistled in surprise, as ROOT was extremely effective at carrying out tasks. Naruto nodded, and channeled his chakra, and began to activate every single seal all at once. He had mixed a little space-time technique into the seals, allowing them to be connected together.
He made sure that they all wouldn't stop working if somehow, one of them got destroyed. An important fail safe at the very least. He asked everyone to grab ahold of each other, and he flashed them back to Konoha. Immediately after they all went to The Hokage's Office to report. Knocking on his door, they got permission to enter.
"Well, that was much quicker than I anticipated. Well done. Danzo already swung by with his report, I just need yours now." Hiruzen said.
Naruto began his part of the report. The Hokage frowned slightly when he heard about the first checkpoint he did, but figured it was an expected reaction from the chunin team stationed there. At least he could rest easy now that defenses had been upgraded. Kakashi quickly gave his report, and when he got done, Hiruzen dismissed them, as well as paid them for a job well done.
When they walked out of the office, Naruto began to speak "Zabuza, you head back to the compound and make sure everything is still up and running, and start doing your patrol. Haku you are coming with me to train. Kakashi, may I borrow Sasuke from you? I need to start teaching him to get used to using a shield and spear." He said.
Zabuza took off to carry out his orders, and Kakashi nodded, and pulled out his yellow book. Sasuke seemed happy to learn more from Naruto. He followed him and Haku to the training ground that they usually use to train at. When they arrived, Naruto immediately began to do some stretches to warm up. Figuring they should do the same, they did so as well.
Naruto made a shadow clone to help Haku with more archery, and made about 100 more to help him and Sasuke. The Uchiha visibly cringed at what Naruto had in mind for him. Naruto laughed at him when he saw the look on his face. He went up to him, and began to explain why he did this.
"Sasuke. Don't be so down in the dumps about this. This is for you, and I to train together. We will be working both together and separately. These clones will be unarmed, and will stay that way until you can take out half of them with ease. Now let's work on forming a shield wall, and we will fend off my horde of clones." Naruto explained, trying to reassure Sasuke.
"Oh, thank goodness! I thought you were going to sit and watch as my ass gets handed to me!" Sasuke said, sighing in relief.
Naruto then showed Sasuke what to do, and as soon as they locked shields, the clones all rushed in. Fists raised, ready to demolish the two shinobi. Naruto, as fast as lightning, struck out with his spear. Sasuke did as well, though he was still a little sloppy. They did this until the clones were destroyed.
Which was a lot, as Sasuke got hit a few times. He was thanking his lucky stars that he had on armor, or it would've been a lot more painful. Naruto patted him on the back, and congratulated him. He then proceeded to make three times as many clones, all with spears, and some wicked looking grins. Naruto then proceeded to say something that made the prospect of facing the clones a lot easier.
"You may want to activate your Sharingan." He said.
Sasuke did as he was told, and he watched in slow motion as the army of heavily armed shadow clones rushed in to attack. Naruto made sure his Rinnegan and Tenseigan was on, and he said two words.
"Almighty Push!"
Sasuke watched as the clones were literally blown away, as they were sent flying back about a kilometer. His jaw dropped as he saw how truly powerful Naruto was with his Rinnegan. His awe didn't last long as the army was rushing back, banged up and dirty, but ready to draw blood. Naruto ordered Sasuke to hold steady, and ready his spear. He brandished his shield and spear, and stood shoulder to shoulder with Naruto.
Four hours later, and Sasuke felt exhausted. His arms felt like lead, and his leg's cried out in protest at him wandering back to his house. When he went inside, his mother saw him, and gasped in surprise. She immediately began to coddle him. She lead him to the dining room table, where his entire family was waiting there for dinner.
Itachi raised a brow slightly at the condition his foolish little brother was in. Fugaku smirked, as Sasuke looked like he was making progress. Mikoto sat Sasuke down, and began to fuss over him. She took off his armor, and took his shield and spear. Sasuke was thankful that he had his mother.
"What on earth were you doing today? Is Kakashi being rough with you?" Mikoto asked, concerned.
"No I wasn't with Kakashi. It was Naruto." Sasuke said, physically drained of energy.
"Well, do you wish to do it again?" Fugaku asked.
"Well duh. This is the most progress I've made in my ninja career. Kakashi is nice when it comes to jutsu. Overall, Naruto has him beat when it comes to getting results. He is very militaristic when it comes to training. Today for example, he summoned 100 unarmed clones to take on. He made them for him and I, and when we destroyed them all, he summoned 300 more with spears. It took four hours for the both of us to beat that many clones." Sasuke replied.
Mikoto was mortified by what Naruto did, but Itachi and Fugaku were impressed with Sasuke's abilities. Even if Naruto was fighting alongside him.
"Well it seems I'm missing out on some intense training, I must join you tomorrow for training." Itachi insisted.
"I would like to as well. I want to see how hard he'll push us if we all go. I've seen him in real action, and it was the most terrifying, yet amazing thing I have ever seen." Fugaku added.
Mikoto rolled her eyes at how simple minded her family was at times. She just smiled, as Sasuke wouldn't be alone with Naruto anymore.
With Naruto, he was with Haku, watching over her training in place of his clone. He was impressed at how far she's come. She can now hit a target accurately 100 yards away. He called out to her. "Haku-chan! Come here, please?!"
She stopped what she was doing, and quickly jogged over to him.
"What is it Naruto?" She asked.
"I think we will start with incorporating your Ice Style with your archery. As well as train you in using short swords. We will also get you outfitted with some armor like mine. Let's get started." He said.
Haku happily nodded, and began to pay extra attention. Naruto started teaching her his theory behind how to use her bow to propel her jutsu at faster speeds, from greater distances and accuracy. She nodded, understanding what he was saying. He then motioned for her to try it out. She went to her spot in front of the targets, and aimed at the target 100 yards away.
She channeled chakra into the bowstring, and drew it back to her cheek. She saw an arrow made of ice form, and she let it loose. It sailed through the air, and smacked dead center of the target. It began to freeze over, when it suddenly exploded into a cluster of razor sharp shards of ice. Her eyes widened, and she immediately looked back at Naruto in shock. He was smiling brightly at her.
"Very good Haku. That's very good, indeed. Now, let's get you outfitted with a sword, and some armor." Naruto said.
She smiled excitedly, both at what she just did, and what they're doing. She knew she was going to excel in these up and coming Chunin Exams. She put her bow over her shoulder, tightened her quiver, and followed Naruto to his compound. He went over to his armory, and went inside. She went in with him, and waited at the front door.
Naruto soon came back with pure white Spartan armor. She saw it, and knew she was going to love it. He handed her the armor, and showed her how to put it on. When she was done, she made a mirror out of ice, and looked at her reflection. She admitted that she looked deadly. Naruto handed her a short sword as well.
