Naruto was in his brand new office in his house, which was in the newly constructed Uzumaki Clan compound. He sat at his desk, going over some details for a security system that he could greatly benefit from. He was making notes, carefully sketching a rough design of the seal he would use. Something new. He was a quarter of the way done, when a knock on his door caught his attention.
"Come in." He said.
Zabuza walked in and whispered I his ear, "The ANBU Commander is here to see you, he approached me, and asked for an audience with you, be careful."
Naruto nodded, and Zabuza stood behind Naruto, off to his left.
"You wished to speak with me, come in and talk, I feel this is going to be interesting."
The door opened, and an ANBU with a dragon mask walked in flanked by two more ANBU. The three bowed, while The Commander spoke. "Ohayō Uzumaki-sama, I'm here because of your status as a one of a kind fuinjutsu master. I have always sought better ways to help safeguard the village. Your rise to clan head, and your reputation has lead me to believe we could benefit greatly from each other, with the Hokage's approval of course."
"Hmm... alright. I'll entertain this conversation, what is it you seek, that my talents in fuinjutsu are required?"
"First is a barrier seal around Konoha. To be able to stop an invasion in its tracks could be beneficial, as well as a sensory seal to detect unauthorized movement within Fire Country."
Naruto folded his hands in front of his face, hiding it from view. He closed his eyes, and asked, "If I do this I need to know a few things first. Why would we need a sensory seal, when Konohagakure houses the Byakugan, whose abilities may I remind you, see any threats that the normal eyes cannot. Second of all, we would need to have an audience with The Daimyo in order to do anything within his country. The barrier seals for Konoha would be easy, the rest lies my concern, besides what could you offer me?"
Naruto opened his eyes, waiting for The Commander's response. He didn't wait long because The Commander explained himself.
"We have been talking about a way to detect threats without the use of the Hyuuga. Recently, Kumo and Iwa nin have been targeting patrol groups that have Hyuuga members in them, so to protect the Byakugan from getting into the hands of our enemies, we believe something less... detectable would be a better solution to our problems."
"Alright let's see here... I could look into library for anything, but a trip to Uzu would probably be the best bet. I'm also expanding upon this idea, and I'm going to create a long distance communication relay with fuinjutsu, because what's the point of the sensory seals when they're so far out. It would talk time. Time, that could be utilized in our defense and counter attack. I'll see what I can do. Now, we're going to discuss what I'm going to get out of this in return."
For the first time in a long while, though Naruto couldn't tell, The ANBU Commander was rendered speechless. His mind was processing the information, racing to see the endless possibilities of such tools. He then thought how he could possibly match that to be able to make a deal. He then thought back to when he heard about Naruto finding books on an unprecedented, super intense training regiment for something called a Spartan. Smiling slightly to himself, he new he had a good chance of getting a deal.
"Hmm... I could talk to the Hokage about sending academy students, and ANBU recruits, should they choose, to be trained. By you! To become Spartans. To become another elite force to be added to Konoha's ranks..."
Naruto was silently looking in awe at the statement, which quickly turned into sadistic joy. He could see the benefits from this, a battalion of super trained, highly capable, super deadly warriors that work as a solid unit. Of course some modifications would be made, maybe he could add his barrier seals to the shields for the future soldiers...
Naruto quickly stood up. He turned to Zabuza, and motioned him to get closer. "Get a meeting set up with Hokage-sama, I need to make a rough plan to present to him if we ever want this approved. Go!"
With that, Zabuza disappeared in a mist. Naruto looked at the ANBU in his office. "Come! Let's go to my library, We could start our search, and discuss things further there. Follow me."
Naruto gracefully walked out of his office. The Commander next to him, and the two ANBU behind them. Naruto led them out of his house, and out into his beautiful compound. He walked down a road, after which he spoke, "You know... I was in the process of making a security seal when I was told you were coming, though it would primarily be used for The Uzumaki Compound. If things turn sour, and our search fruitless, then it wouldn't be too far fetched for me to make a new seal."
"Hmm... that would be an option if things go as you say, but remember, you did mention going to Uzushiogakure."
"That I did, but that would be a dangerous journey, even for your most talented ANBU. There will be traps, fuinjutsu or regular, doesn't matter. It would be wise to not touch anything without my approval first. It could mean the difference between life and death. That's just within Uzu. Their defenses could still be active, even though Iwa, Kumo, and Mizu somehow got in. That and there is a reason that it's called The Hidden Whirlpool Village. It's protected from offending ships, and any ninja dumb enough to try and walk to it on water. By what? Well giant whirlpools of course!"
That put a pause into the conversation, as such danger darkened the mood drastically.
"Have no worry though."
Naruto said, as they stood outside the library. "Should we go there, it should recognize my status as clan head for The Uzumaki, and it should go without a hitch, and all of Uzu's treasures would be safely returned here, straight into my clan vault. Wouldn't want that kind of stuff being available to the public now, lest we want some unsavory criminals, to take what is not theirs. Imagine if someone like Orochimaru getting his hands on those jutsu..."
This got a visible shudder from both The ANBU, and their Commander, though he did hide it more. Naruto placed his hand on the double doors, and channeled some chakra into it. Hearing a click, then a loud hiss, the doors swung inward. With that they began their search.
After an hour and a half of searching, they piled what thorny found on a table. Naruto looked through them, kind of miffed at the bounty before him. They were barrier seals, and some small sensory seals, but they were for small time security, and would work for what he, or the ANBU Commander wanted. He looked at the man in question, and shook his head.
"It was a good effort, but these are made to stop bandits, and Genin, maybe chunin if you're lucky. This won't work. I think we're going to have to ask Hokage-Jiji if he'll let us go to Uzu. That's the only real way we'll find anything that we're after."
"So be it."
With that they made their way out of the library. They walked out into the streets quietly, and swiftly made their way to the Hokage Tower. Ascending the tower, they knocked briskly on the Hokage's door. A faint "come in" was heard, and they walked in.
Hiruzen was enjoying a cup of tea. He was with Danzo, who was telling him about all the missions they used to do together as a team. They were interrupted by a knock. He told whoever it was to enter, and to his great surprise, Naruto and The ANBU Commander were in his office. Adopting a serious face, he knew this visit was going to be important.
Naruto bowed to his superior, and said, "I apologize Hokage-sama. I know this seems urgent, but I need to make a visit to my mothers homeland. It's for something that was requested of me by The ANBU Commander."
Hiruzen stood, along with Danzo, at this information. They new it was serious, but for something so dangerous...
"Well I'll certainly say that this is quite a mood change for my day. May I ask what possessed you to want to do this?"
The ANBU Commander walked forward, and kneeled before The Hokage. "I apologize deeply Hokage-sama. I request an audience with Uzumaki-sama, because I was hoping to recruit his services to make a barrier seal for Konoha, as well as a sensory seal for the borders of Fire Country. He took us to the clan library, but the seals there weren't of satisfaction for what was necessary, so Uzumaki-sama suggested Uzu as the next well of information to look through."
Hiruzen had a proud look on his face, hidden by a one of calm, which surprised both of them. "Although this is an extremely dangerous journey, I know that Naruto is capable of following it through, I suggest you take some people with you. As for the sensory seals, I'll meet with Daimyo-sama to discuss it. Now! Who would you like to take with you!"
Naruto walked forward this time, and said, "I would like to have a Hyuuga, and an Uchiha with me, as well as a squad of ANBU, because I'll need all the help I can get if I'm to go. We should be expected to return two weeks before the chunin exams."
The Hokage nodded, then turned to The ANBU Commander. "Get me a squad of ANBU, then get me Hyuuga Hiashi, and Uchiha Fugaku."
The Commander bowed, then disappeared in a a small, nearly undetectable puff of smoke. When he did, Hiruzen motioned Naruto to sit. "Can you explain in further detail about what happened, I'll need as much information as possible to make my case before The Daimyo. You need to understand, I'm allowed to do what I wish when it comes to this village, but my influence is not as great outside of it. Have hope though, The Daimyo is a call, reasonable person, if the situation calls for it."
Naruto nodded at this tidbit of information, and began his explanation. "Alright then, I was in my brand new office, working on a security seal, you know to keep unauthorized personnel out of areas they shouldn't be. I was a quarter of the way done, when Zabuza-San informed me of The ANBU Commander's wanting an audience with me. When the man in question arrived, that's when he asked me for those seals."
"Hmmmm... care to elaborate further on the parameters of the seals? I would also like to know what they do."
"Of course, the first was a large scale barrier seal that could stop an invasion in its tracks, and withstand a bijuu if it had to. The second one was equally as useful, though it would need a secondary seal to complement it. That would be a sensory seal. I would assume that they would be placed around the border, Identifying unauthorized people that don't go pass the checkpoints. The complementary seal would be a long distance information relay made with fuinjutsu, allowing for quicker communication between the border and Konoha. That way we have ample time to prepare. It would keep the Hyuuga from going near the borders near Kumo and Iwa, so then we can station them elsewhere."
The Hokage nodded in understanding, seeing how sound these seals are going to be. He turned to Danzo. "You've been quiet my friend, care to give your input?"
Danzo nodded, "Ohayō, young Uzumaki, I believe this is the first time we've met in person, outside of meetings of course. I think you should teach the ANBU how to maintain the barrier seals. As well as the sensory seals. It would save you, and The Hokage time, allowing for you to do other important work. I for one would appreciate it if you could invite me to watch, I've always been fascinated by fuinjutsu. I'm always keen on learning a few new tricks. I'm old and can't move as fast as I used to, nor I as strong. I'm still able to use chakra, and a lot of it. I'm sure I could make use of such a skill."
Naruto gained a bright, cheerful smile, then happily replied. "Yosh, of course you can Danzo-Jiji, just swing by my place in 7 days from now, at 9 am. I'd be happy to show you what I can do! DATTEBAYO!!"
Danzo chuckled at Naruto's enthusiasm, then sat back down. Contemplating things. Hiruzen, who was enjoying Naruto's excitement, kept a mental note to join Danzo. Although he was good with seals, he was by no means a seal master, so he figured he could learn a couple of new tricks as well. He cleared his throat once more, and told Naruto to relax. He sat down, and continued with sipping his tea. Five minutes later a squad of ANBU appeared in front of them. They knelt before the Hokage, awaiting further instruction.
"At ease. I would explain your assignment now, but we're currently waiting for two important members of the team." Said Hiruzen.
The ANBU got up, and waited at attention. After three more minutes of waiting, a knock was heard. "Come in!" Shouted The Third Hokage.
Both Hiashi, and Fugaku came in at the same time, both looking curious, and confused, at why they had been summoned. They gained serious looks seeing Naruto, and a squad of ANBU in the office. They stood next to the ANBU.
"Attention everyone!" Commanded The Hokage.
"I've gathered you here for an S-Rank mission!"
This got surprised looks from Hiashi and Fugaku. Naruto grinned, happy to get his first S-Rank.
"Naruto, by the request of The ANBU Commander, has asked to go to Uzu, to search for some seals. Naruto can explain on the way, but he's specifically asked for the both of you two, and a squad of ANBU. I completely agree, seeing that the Uzumaki of old probably have left a few nasty surprises, and it is quite the area to search. Dismissed."
"Hai! Hokage-sama!"
The ANBU, and the two clan heads turned to Naruto. He stood up and motioned them to follow. He gave Fugaku and Hiashi a list of things to bring to the journey, and gave the ANBU team on as well. The group dispersed, and Naruto dashed to the front gates. He signed out his group, and waited. The first to arrive were the ANBU. Shortly after, came Fugaku and Hiashi. He set out, everyone quickly following.
In a hushed tone that neither clan head had heard Naruto speak in, Naruto uttered, "The ANBU may have already been told, so You two need to be filled in. I've been tasked with finding a barrier seal, and an advanced barrier seals. I've made as scroll carrying the details. Here!"
He threw a scroll at Fugaku, who effortlessly caught it. He opened it, and both him and Hiashi read through it. Not saying anything, they nodded. They took to the trees, silently racing to a place many considered to be dead, and dangerous. It took them a day and a half to reach the coast of Fire Country.
Naruto pulled out a scroll, and summoned a ship. He knew he would eventually need a ship, for he would eventually visit his clan's homeland. Everyone sweatdropped at the fact that Naruto casually keeps a ship in his pocket. He shrugged, not caring a bit. He walked aboard, everyone following. He went to the helm, and the ship came to life. The sails moved on their own, and the ship made its way to Uzushio. The squad of ANBU, along with the two clan heads, looked to Naruto for advice. "My mother brought some stuff with her before The Fall. So I of course learned about a few Uzumaki things, this being one of them."
Nodding in appreciation, They all got ready for the rest of the Journey. The first night a storm swept over the sea, and forced everyone below deck. Second night, was nonstop sailing, and small talk amongst everyone. The third and final night, the ship made dock at an old, yet remarkably intact dock that had somehow survived the tests of time. They got off, and Naruto tied down the ship. They all walked off the dock and towards the gate. Which stood looming over them.
"Well!" Said Naruto, "Here goes nothing." He pushed on the gates with his hands.
