Chapter 28 - Gavi's pov

"Why is she crying her eyes out?? What the hell have you done to her?! Just like I expected in the back of my mind you hurt her!!" Madeline starts screaming as she and Mason Mount walk out of the breakfast and notice us.

I'm immediately hurt by her assumption. I could never do that. She is the light of my life. She getting hurt feels like I get hurt as well.

"Madeline what the fuck?! I was the one who saved her from Croatian players. A fucking Croatian player slapped her in the face!! And how can you even say that!? You have seen the way I look at her for the longest time!" I shout back since I can't take anymore drama this morning.

"Don't talk to my sister like that!" Mason yells with a serious expression on his face.

"I'm sorry but I'm absolutely furious at the moment since no one has a right to hurt her! And making assumptions out of nowhere doesn't help at all!!" I shout to both of them.

"I swear to god if you ever hurt my best friend or break her heart I'm making sure you're never getting any positive things in your life!" she screams back.

"Can you please stop yelling at each other? I'm here as well so can you stop talking like I'm not present," my beautiful girl says and lifts her head from my chest. She looks at all of us wanting to get our attention.

"Of course, mi cielito," I say to her sweetly and place a quick kiss on her forehead. Mason and Madeline both nod.

"Madeline, I'm not hurt, just overwhelmed by the turns of events of the last few hours. And no, it's not Gavi's fault that someone took a picture of us and sold it to the news. I was present as well and we weren't prepared for that," she starts.

I notice she is having a hard time telling us this so I start drawing circles on her back. She looks at me and gives me a lazy smile before continuing, "What I was not expecting was to be yelled at the second I step to the lobby."

"I let you slip out of my gaze for 5 minutes and that was enough time for you to get in trouble," Madeline says and is about to lose her patience again.

"Madeline, keep it cool. So they started demanding I'm a fan who just tries to get social media attention and ruin the World Cup by causing unnecessary drama. Apparently some media reporters outside the hotel tried to interview them and they got angry since they were in a hurry. And when they saw me by myself they wanted to take revenge on me and the situation escalated pretty quickly since I started to argue with them," she tells us.

"Did I hear someone slap you?" Madeline asks.

"Yeah," she says and I feel her freeze in my arms. I give her a light kiss on the cheek and continue drawing circles on her back. "They got pretty angry since I didn't agree with them so they thought using violence would make me change my mind. Then Gavi appeared on the scene and saved me. If you're angry at someone, be angry at them, not Gavi," she continues.

"I'm so sorry princess. I should have been with you," I say and hug her tightly.

She didn't deserve to be treated like that at all. If someone has something to say about my relationship with her, come to me. I'm going to murder every single one who tries to hurt her from now on.

"I'm going to eat them alive," Madeline says with rage in her voice and continues right after, "Where are they? I'm going to make sure they regret laying a hand on my bestie for the rest of their lives!!"

"At the end of the corridor with Pedri. He said he's going to take care of them while I'm getting my beautiful and brave princess out of there," I answer.

"I'm going there right this second and Mason you're taking her to our room. Gavi you can do whatever you want," Madeline says before leaving us.
