Gemstone Bar - Southside of Beacontown
3rd POV
Jesse stared at Petra and see that she was indeed serious about selling her bar.
"They can't do that!" Jesse exclaimed.
Petra sighed as she took another sip from her bottle, "Unfortunately they can, I mean look what they did to my bar! My father's bar!"
"Your dad had this place up for years! This used to be my safehaven as a kid, this was my childhood home!"
The owner shook her head, "Not anymore. Even if I go back on collecting bounty, I won't have any more time to make the payments off before they'll come and burn this place down! I can't just wait to get hired to catch some stranger's head for a million!"
"Damn those debt collectors!" Shouted Axel, pounding a nearby wall next to him to vent his frustrations out.
"Ugh, I wish they're debt collectors, but these pricks in suits, they're not bullshitting! I couldn't do anything knowing they're part of some sort of huge illegal organzation that no one's supposed to piss them off!"
"Come on Petra, just say the 'M' word." Said Jesse
Petra stood quiet for a moment and sighed, "They're from a fucking mob gang. Look, I don't know why they would go around and beat any gang members for money or drugs or why would why want to buy my bar so badly but I'm not going anywhere. Jack raised me here, and I'm not letting some old grandpas take what was left of my father!"
Suddenly, Jesse blanked as she got suspicious when her friend mentioned something similar to the conversation she heard from the Golden Apple Club last night, "Hey....is there any chance that Magnus used to be involved with them?"
The owner shrugged, "Not much I know of but they did talk awful shit about him. They were pretty happy that Magnus is dead."
"Shit! They gotta be those same motherfuckers who got me jumped from yesterday!" Axel hissed as he face palmed.
Lucky me I guess, thought Jessica. Then she turned to him, "Lemme guess, money?" The dealer shook his head, "Seems that it's more than that. Because I was one of the people Magnus trust, that big guy told me I had to gather around my old gang fellows at the spot to decide who's gonna be our new boss by night! Bruh, we all agreed that we're not gonna let some son of a bitch replacing Magnus!"
"And if you don't? He's gonna like, kill you guys?" Asked Jesse.
"Who knows? Might as well take everything we worked hard for! I don't get it. I never even seen them before! Why would they work with someone who's not fancy rich as they are? I mean, South Side doesn't really seem to suit them!"
"Axel, not all street gangs are gathered by leaders who have the same background as theirs. I doubt Magnus even told you or your fellow gang members that but you really think he organzied all of that drug business alone for money or his pride just to reach his way on top of the food chain?"
"Well, yeah, but all of that was to make sure we get food on our table."
"And that's what you've been doing too. He was just like you, despite the fact he used to run around the South side of the city, but he's no monarchy of the gang." Petra pointed at him.
Jesse raised her eyebrow, "I know what a monarchy is but you're saying is while he's considered the top dog, he also had his hands tied by someone who's above his level?" Axel got confused, trying to comprend to what the girls were saying, "I...don't understand all that English you speaking..."
"Before he settled here, Magnus used to work with the mafia and his ex-boss wasn't happy when he chose to live out in the dumpster than to live large in a yacht. He was gonna pull a trigger on his brain but Magnus convinced him to let him live as long as he help spreading his organization through low income areas and unemployed people. Not a lot of lamborghini or mansions but more useful smuggling and more unreported criminal activities than seen crooks in jail." Petra explained.
