Southside of Beacotown, Jesse's Apartment

3rd POV

Jesse was stunned to see Lukas holding up a ring box in front of her. Lukas noticed how she immediately widened her eyes once he pulled out the box from his pocket. He nervously chuckled, "I know what you're thinking, and no. ..Besides you already know I'm engaged! Or was...Plus, I know it's small but I really hope you like what I got you."

The girl tilted her head to her shoulders and pouted her lips, "Mmmm let me guess, was that the same box with the ring you proposed to my brother months ago?"

"Yea...I bought the gift but really didn't feel like spend money on cardboard and wrappers. Heh...Happy birthday Jess!"

Jesse eagerly open up the box and there in front of her, were a pair of shiny earrings shaped like stars. Her emerald-eyes gleamed as they're reflected by the new jewerly that shined like they're made from rhinestones in the night sky .

"Lukas...they're beautiful! I love it!" She complimented as she picked it up and watched as the stars reflecting the light, seemingly glowing like a disco ball.

Then Lukas watched as she rushed to the vanity mirror, eagerly placing her new earrings on her ear as her new accessory.

The girl then turned to Lukas, brushing her hair behind her ears to show off her new birthday present.

"What do you think?"

He couldn't think of the right words he felt to describe her,

Pretty?

Beautiful?

Amazing?

Tell her she's hot as a celebrity?

Wait, why did he even come up with that word in his head?

Despite this, Jesse playfully guffawed, "Someone's speechless. Hmm...although...I doubt my birthday's the only reason why you came."

Lukas expression suddenly switched up to mix of worry and concern, hearing her tone trailing to sound of remorse. He sighed yet, felt a small amount of relieve that he didn't have to pretend he remembered whatever happened last night that worries him even more about Jesse. "Yeah...about that...I just wanted to make sure you're okay. You know...after what happened."

"I am, but are you?" Said Jesse so casually before continuing, "Hope you had fun last night too."

Lukas groaned as he went to sit on Jesse's bed, looking more concerned, "Y'know, when you said you got plans, I never thought you could pull something beyond off like that! Infiltrating the club VIP booth, going anywhere near the most dangerous criminals in the city, and worst of all, making out with one of them in front of everybody?! What the hell Jess?! I couldn't even sleep last night! I was scared what they could do to you!"

He suddenly felt a pair of arms wrapping around his shoulders from the back. Jesse laid her head on the crook of his neck, which was unexpected, causing him to froze in place, but he didn't have the urge to push her off. She look at him in the eye and chuckled, "I'm here now aren't I? Some big guys just don't have the balls to take down on a lady like me."

"I've been meaning to ask you this since you've came back...what happened to you for the past 6 years? I'm just really concerned what changed you...imagine how Jesse would react if he's...here."

Jessica sighed, "I can't lie...my brother had every right to worry what I've become. Been traveling between France and London, raised by some some nice friends. And met some creeps. But I refuse to stay as that lil old Jessica I was. I should've known running around in Europe I ended up seeing something worse than what I've seen here." Lukas can tell she was very subtle about it when she suddenly trailed off spoken sounding gloomy.
