We go pick up a pizza, the next spot I had for Lizzie was stargazing while enjoying a picnic.

Due to the traffic in California, so much time had passed and the sun was setting, our drive was by the beach, and Lizzie had moved to the back of the car to watch the water and sun as it set, i looked at her through the rearview mirror.

"Eyes on the road, before you kill us and run us off this mountain"

"At least I'd die with you", I joke with her.

"I'd rather keep living", she responds, slightly raising an eyebrow

"Me too", I say, she wraps her arms around the car seat.

"Are we close?", she asked.

"Yeah I think so, all the nicer and more nature spots are really far from the city", I say but she doesn't say anything. The way the sun was hitting her face made her golden and bright. The god themselves were shining down on her, she was a beautiful view, and nothing could ever compare. How could I not fall in love every second I am with her? Doubt still lingered in my mind like a bomb waiting to explode, were we really okay? She was here but she wasn't. I didn't know if I should wait for her to bring it up, I want to give her the space she needs to think. I just wish I knew what she was thinking.

"Penny for your thoughts Olsen?", I ask.

"I want to travel somewhere after this film take a break"

We arrive at our destination, I set up a blanket and our pizza and drinks on the floor, and we sat there watching the sun finish setting over the mountains. We talked about nothing and everything.

"You know what I've always wanted to try", she says

"No, what?"

"There is this California challenge. You start your day in the mountains during the water because occasionally it gets snow and well there is always a big bear right? and then you drive down from the mountains and go to the beach for an evening swim or walk or lunch, whatever. Finally, you drive down to the desert. Joshua tree is where we were filming, that is where people go to catch a sunset and stargaze. Kinda like what we are doing now. I have never done it but it's on my list of things to do"

"Snow, Beach, and Desert all in one day. California is an odd state sometimes", I tell her

"Hater", Lizzie says. I pull her close to me to cuddle as it was getting dark.

"What if we get attacked by a wild coyote", Lizzie says out loud.

"I'd let the coyote get me before it gets you, you are pretty fast at running so id think you can save yourself while it eats me"

Lizzie starts giggling, music to my ears. It was finally dark enough for the stars to start shining.

"It's beautiful", Lizzie tells me.

"It really is, who knew there were so many of them? it looks like lice in the sky", y/n says

"Are you really comparing stars to fucking head lice?!", Lizzie starts laughing

"Sorry, it was the only thing that came to mind!"

"Do you know how to read the constellation or what they are called", she asked

"No, I really never wonder about space. Do you?", I ask

"You get so accommodated to the city life and it's so loud and flashes, I actually forget that there is a whole set of universes out there. this feels like a good reminder. It's grounding. Thank you for bringing me"

I hold Lizzie close, trying to appreciate this moment with her. I could feel there was still something on her mind even though she didn't say anything. It felt like doubt.  It was messing with my mind too.
