(CH.51) An Attempt To Escape

"Okay. Kumquat! We gotta get going." I said as I tried waking up Apple.
Damn, we really didn't fully think of this part of the plan.
How am I supposed to wake her up if she's such a heavy sleeper and I can't actually sleep touch living things!
Better go check how Light is doing then.
Cause like. She's probably still awake.
And she could easily wake Apple up for me.
Because she alive and I'm not, so.. Y'know.
I went through the walls right into the room where we left Light.
She was sitting on her bed, with a backpack on.
"Are you ready already?" I asked her and she nodded her head as she stood up.
"Good, then you gotta wake up Apple for me, she dead asleep fr!"
She chuckled and went over to her desk and grabbed her notebook and pen.
She began writing on it.
"Ooh, smart. Smol notebook and pen to write your thoughts down." I said and came closer to her and saw what she wrote.
'u guide me 2 where AP is?' The note said.
"Oh! Yeah, sure can do bestie!" I said and went through the wall.
She went through the door and followed me through the hall.
My mansion is like, HU-UGE.
So it takes a while to get from one to the other if you're not a ghost, like me!
I pity those mortals, they don't get to go through walls nor even get to have a tail!
"So... We got to be super sneaky and silent, but I think that's no problem for you, cause you're all mute and stuff." I said, silently as I guided her across the mansion.
"Cool writing style btw, quick and easy! Like me when I'm texting, lol."
She smiled and then I stopped talking to prevent both marshy and paint waking up because of my voice, tho Marsh is used to me talking to myself throughout the night so she would probably not wake up.
We got to Apple's room and Light tried opening the door but wasn't able to.
"Huh?" I said as I looked at her.
She sighed and wrote on her notebook.
Then, she showed me what she wrote down.
'door = lock'
"Ohhh, holdup-" I said and went through the wall and unlocked the door for her.
I can interact with objects, but not people.
And i'm not even fully able to pick up objects! Just interact with them.
Ugh, it's kind of the main set back of being a ghost tbh.
I went back with her through the wall.
"Done, try now." I said and she easily was able to open the door.
I went next to her as she approached Apple.
She gently pushed Apple around to gain her attention but Apple didn't wake up.
Light worriedly looked at me.
"She's a heavy sleeper, be more aggresive."
She nodded and firmly pushed Apple off the bed.
"EEP!" Apple shouted as she hit the floor.
"Finally, we gotta leave, Kumquat." I said, floating in front of her, mad.
"Already?"
"Yeah, it's midnight, we gotta get Light outta here now! Before Marshy-Marsh or
Paint wakes up."
"Okedoke! On it then." Apple said as she stood up from the floor with the help of Light.
"Okay, so, I can't rlly go anywhere by myself so like, i'll keep watch while you to leave, you know how to get to the hotel, right Kumquat?"
"Yeah."
"And do you remember the plan for Light?"
"Yup, we go to the hotel, warn everyone there and stay as far as possible from Painty!"
"Good we're ready then, you guys leave, i'll go spy on them."
"I gotcha, see ya when all of this finishes."
"Yeah... Marsh won't like it too much..."
"We are doing it, Bow. We gotta help Light!"
"Just saying, Marsh won't like you doing it, so just be back as soon as you can."
"I will keep it in mind, but let's go already!" She said as she grabbed Light by the arm.
"Bye, Kumquat, i'll try to warn you both if they wake up."
"Yes yes, byeeee!"
I saw as they exited the hotel and slowly shut the door close behind them.
Time to go check if Marsh and Paint are still asleep.
I flew through some walls until I got to Marsh's room.
Okay, time to check.
I sneaked my head tho the room and saw Marsh sleeping peacefully in her bed, hugging her plushie.
AWEEE- Okay yeah, she's fine.
Time to go check on Paint then.
I went over to where Paint was sleeping and also sneaked my head into their room, but was shocked to see em fully awake and in the balcony!
Oh dang.
They're awake? Why?
I became invisible and fully went inside of their room.
I sneakily got closer to them and stared at them.
They sighed and sadly looked into the night.
"Fuck.. I don't know what to do..."
I floated next to them on top of the bar of the balcony.
Gotta get comfortable before I can spy.
"Lighty... I- I wished you could forgive me..."
They cleaned up their tears and continued speaking.
"I messed up so badly... I don't know why I was being like that... You- You just wanted for us to be happy.... A-And I.... I hurt you...."
Oh gee, what happened?
Poor Paint, it looks like they've had it somehow.. rough?
We might've been quick to judge the situation...
Or maybe they know I'm listening and they're FAKING IT!

I watched as Paint sulked themself till they began crying.
I should probs ask what happened- What if Apple and Light running away ain't that good of an idea after all?!
I made myself visible and touched Paints shoulder.
"HUH?!" They said as they backed away.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE???" They continued on saying.
"AAH! YOU SPOOKED ME!"
"I SPOOKED YOU? WHY WERE YOU SPYING ON ME?"
"I was watching over you!"
"THAT SOUNDS LIKE THE EXACT SAME THING."
Suddenly, we heard a loud clank in the distance.
Paintbrush worriedly raised their head and looked around.
"What the-" They said, looking past the balcony to the forest.
"WHAT'S GOING ON?" They said as they hurriedly looked over to me.
"Umh... Yes?"
"UGH, BOW! WHAT'S GOING ON???"
"Wouldn't you want to know, you hurt her! We had no other choice, k?"
"Hurt her? Hurt who???"
Then, they realized.
"No.. You're not talking about Lighty, are you?"
Oop, they finally got it, I thought and just looked at them.
"OH MY GOD. YOU IDIOTS. WHERE IS SHE?!" They screamed from the top of their lungs and rushed to the door.
"No way I'm telling you! You're such an incredible meanie to her! Apple's helping her out now, you won't boss her around anymore."
"FFUCK." They said as they slammed the door open and headed to the corridor.
I followed them from behind and saw how Marsh exited her room almost at the same time.
"Eugh.... What is all this fuzz about...?" Marsh said in a tired voice.
"YOUR STUPID FFUCKING FRIENDS KIDNAPPED LIGHTY. FOR LITERALLY NO REASON AT ALL!"
"No reason? She was literally so terrified of you! Shakin' n all.... The hell did you even do to her?!"
"UGH. THAT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS. BRING LIGHTY BACK, IMMEDIATELY."
"Hell nah!"
"Wh..- Bow, what are they talking about?"
"We helped Light escape this hell house where she was trapped with Paint, she had to warn the others about smth and they didn't let her! We didn't do anything wrong." I answered angrily, as I looked over to Paint.
"WAIT... WARN THE OTHERS?!" Paint shouted as they stared at me.
"Duh? You'd rather have them all die or what?"
"YOU'RE AN ABSOLUTE IDIOT. WHY WOULD YOU EVER SEND THEM BOTH BACK? DON'T YOU KNOW HOW MANY LITERAL MURDERERS THERE ARE IN THERE?!"
"Yes! I do! It's like, two. Light told us."
"THEY'RE AT LEAST 8! THAT'S WHY I DIDN'T WANT TO GO BACK THERE YET! FFUCK. YOU SENT THEM TO THEIR DEATH!-" Paint fell to the floor as they finished that sentence.
"Wait wait, you keep saying they- You don't mean that..." Marshy said and stared at me.
"Bow... Did you send Lightbulb and Apple to the hotel..?" She finished saying.
I gulped.
Why is Marshy so serious? Is it really that bad?
"Gosh- Wait, maybe they're not too far gone yet. You stay here Paintbrush, I'll be right back." Marshy said as she began to leave the mansion.
"..."
"Bow, we'll talk about this when I'm back."
Ah damnit, I'm in trouble.
Marsh left the hotel and left me alone with Paint.
The second she left I looked over to Paint.
"Umh. Paint, what happened with Light?"
"...Can't you learn when to shut up?"
"Jeez, okay. I'm just- curious, y'know?"
They sighed and stood up.
"Okay- We got into a very heated argument, I pushed her, I hurt her. S-She... She wanted to stay in the island, the two of us- But we couldn't. We had to help the others. I refused to stay there- a-and... We haven't talked ever since.."
Oh... Shit, we definitely miss-judged the situation.
"A-And I don't know why she suddenly wants to go back... It makes no sense..! I-It's not safe... She needs me- And now I'm not even THERE!"
"She told us you didn't allow her to leave... We thought- I mean. It's not that bad, is it?"
"It's horrible, Bow... So fucking horrible.... I didn't want her going back, I had to rest, for one day only- I needed to go myself, she's not able to take them all. They'll hurt her- A-And same with Apple..."
"Oh..."
I looked away from them.
"Uh, last question and I'll leave you alone already.."
"Hm..?"
"What happened to your leg?"
"Ugh... I can't remember- it all happened so fast. Lighty and I got attacked, I remember being fine at first, but the next day... it hurt like hell. Lighty tried making a cast for me, turned out pretty well..."
"Nice!"
"I guess..? Umh, can you leave me alone now then?"
"Oh. I guess yeah, I did imply so, cya then. If you need me I'll be over at the kitchen or smth." I said and started to leave.
"Bye.." They said and I saw them take a deep breath as I left.
Ain't that sus...
Oh well.
I headed to the kitchen, I think I need some time to try to keep my mind off everything that just happened.
Marsh will be back soon, I hope she isn't too mad at me.
I know for a fact Apple will be alright, same with Lighty.
This place is safe and pretty empty too, I doubt anything could ever happen in these woods.
