Chan's final shift at the cafe had been just two weeks later, and he practically skipped out the door. It was kind of ironic how, once the brunet knew he was quitting, he began to enjoy his shifts - likely due to the fact he cared a whole of a lot less about how the place was run, and he even managed to finally say something to the snarky customer who always claimed his cappuccino had a 'poor steamed milk to foam ratio'.
In the last two weeks, the elder had prepared in every way he could to get ready for his upcoming transition. He had even called his mother back in Australia, letting her know that he was going on a 'month-long vacation in the countryside', and that he wouldn't have any reception to call. He didn't really call his family often anyways, but just in case, he wanted to make sure he didn't have to deal with family during what was expected to be a very sensitive adjustment period for him.
The groceries in the apartment were getting sparser by the day, the elder insisting on only getting day-to-day necessities while he figured out just exactly when he'd be ready to turn.
Felix, though he had his doubts, had been supportive through and through. He wanted to make sure the transition from human to vampire was as smooth as possible for the elder, so he complied with every request Chan shot his way.
It was a Saturday evening, the evening Chan had finished up his last day of work, when he came in the door with a large smile on his face. Felix had just been at home for the day, working on assignments since he was unfortunately still a student and his post-exams break had sadly come to an end. The blond smiled when he saw the brunet come in the door, feeling happy to have another person in the apartment again.
Jisung technically did still live with them, though he only really came back to sleep or hang out on the occasional day he was feeling lethargic. Otherwise, he spent the majority of his time at Minho's, the two growing extremely close ever since his transition - in more ways than one. It was nice to see Jisung form a new close bond, especially considering how different he had taken to his new life as a vampire than everyone thought. In a positive way, of course.
"Hey." The blond smiled warmly, setting his laptop down on the coffee table in front of him.
"Hi." Chan smiled, not taking another second before he dropped on the sofa beside the male, pulling him close to him by the waist. Felix gladly obliged, curling into Chan's side almost as a reflex.
"How was your last day?" Felix queried, knowing the elder had been looking forward to finishing since the day he handed in his letter of resignation.
"Good. I finally gave Mr.Cappuccino some attitude." Chan chuckled, the blond exhaling amusedly through his nose.
"I'm happy you're finally finished." Felix smiled, turning his head to make eye contact with the brunet, "Now we can have all day to hang out."
"Yeah." Chan smiled, the cogs in his brain turning as he prepared his next few words. "About that, actually, I think I'm ready."
Felix's head shot up, pulling back from the hug to check if the man was serious.
"Ready? To like.. turn?" The blond shouldn't sound so caught off guard, he knew this was going to happen soon. Honestly, he had kind of expected it to happen sooner, but Chan just had to be a good Samaritan and work his notice period.
"Yeah." The elder exhaled, sitting more upright to face the blond. "I mean, I'm done with work, I've called my parents, and the groceries have been on standby for the last week and a half." He chuckled.
"Right, makes sense." Felix let out a small laugh in response, suddenly feeling nervous.
Of course he had come to terms with the fact Chan would soon become like him. It excited him in a lot of ways - they would have forever together, the classic cliche that everyone yearned for, and the elder would finally truly understand him down to his primitive core. But on the other hand, he was going to lose his warmth, his breath, his heartbeat. It was only natural that Felix was a little scared for the brunet.
