As Lightning trudged through the park, she was beginning to realize that walking was a lot harder than she expected. Maybe the restrictions made sense. She finally caught sight of Frosty and Minty, still talking to the camera, and called to them.

"Hey! You guys!" she approached them, however she had sounded more out of breath than she'd planned on.

Frosty laughed slightly, turning off the camera. "Are you out of breath?"

"No, no way," Lightning responded, trying to sound as normal as she could. "I came to see what is up with the vlog you just posted?"

"Ohh, that," Minty said nervously. "Yeah, we're gonna go into the forest and vlog today!"

"Not what I mean," Lightning said. "The part about me 'not being interested'?"

"Oh, yeah," Frosty replied. "Well, it doesn't seem like you're interested, you haven't come with us in like 4 months now."

"They didn't let me, okay?" Lightning explained, starting to get very annoyed with her friends. "I was stuck in the hospital. I'm not even supposed to be out doing anything now. But I feel fine! I'm ready to come with you."

Frosty and Minty fell silent, looking at each other hesitantly. Finally, Frosty stepped forward, making it known that she had something serious to say.

"What?" Lightning asked slowly.

"...there's something we've been meaning to tell you, Dusty," Frosty said after a minute. She took a didn't look at Lightning for a long time, and shut her eyes tightly. Then, with a deep breath, she continued. "Um...we don't wanna be friends anymore."

Lightning furrowed her eyebrows, feeling incredibly confused. "Any reason why?"

Frosty sighed heavily. "It all started before your accident. In fact, it's been going on ever since we made friends with you, and we just didn't notice before. Basically, you're a terrible friend."

"Yeah," Minty spoke up. "We always tried to invite you out to do things like get ice cream, go shopping, have sleepovers-"

"Yeah, and I believe I said those are completely lame and ridiculous," Lightning interrupted. "And I still stand by that." There was no way her friends were going to leave her just because she had different interests.

"Exactly," Frosty continued. "We realized you don't go do extreme sports with us because we're your friends. You do them for yourself. And you don't care about doing anything with us that you don't like."

"I don't understand," Lightning said, stepping back. "Why would I do things I hate?"

"And we always came to see you when something big happened in your life," Minty said. "We didn't have to set up a party for your birthday every year, but we did. And you didn't have to call me when I was going through a difficult time last year. And you didn't! That's the difference. You only care about yourself, Dusty."

"Alright fine, I've heard enough," Lightning said quickly. "I'll just start my own vlog series. Most people probably watched this one for me anyway. You guys were too scared to do most of the things I did."

"Yes, and for a reason," Frosty continued. "We thought after your accident, you might change but you're the same. So, leave us alone. We have things to do."

"Yeah, I'm going," Lightning said. "Just one more thing." She grabbed the camera out of Frosty's hand, holding it up in the air. Before the girls could do anything, Lightning threw it, hard, on the ground. They could hear the lens shatter. Minty gasped as tears started rolling down her cheeks.

"Alright, go do your things now," Lightning finished, leaving for her house and not looking back. She'd had it with these girls months ago.

Frosty picked up the camera, but it was broken beyond repair. She set it down on a nearby picnic table, before looking at Minty, who now had tears streaming down her cheeks. Minty sniffled, trying to wipe them away.

"Stop crying, it's okay," Frosty hugged her tightly. "We'll get another one. It was getting pretty old anyways. It's a new beginning for us, we don't need to deal with her anymore." The two pulled apart after a couple minutes, smiling slightly at each other.

Lightning continued walking through the park, now out of breath from anger as well. After all these years of friendship, they were just going to end it like that? Well, it wasn't her loss, for sure. That's what she tried to keep telling herself. They were the same as Indigo Zap, and they never cared enough to see who she really was.

Lightning rushed in the door of her house, slamming it and rushing for the stairs before her dad noticed she was home. He was the last person she wanted to see right now. However, she was too late.

"Hey, you're home," her dad noticed, following after her. "Where have you been? Careful, take it slowly on the stairs!"

In that moment, Lightning actually wished she had listened to her dad. As she reached the top step, her foot got caught on it just like the week before...but no one was close enough to catch her this time. She reached for the railing, but it was too late.

Her dad could do nothing but watch across the living room as she tumbled down the stairs. Finally, he overcame the shock and rushed over to check on her. "Are you okay?" he said in a panic, shaking his head.

Lightning groaned, opening her eyes and reaching up to hold her head. "Great question."

"Hello, guys!" Frosty announced in their latest video. "We got a brand new camera today, for a new beginning, just the 2 of us! Yes, you guys have probably noticed that we've taken down the past videos on this channel but if you're new, that's great! I'm Frosty, and this is my best friend, Minty."

"Hello!" Minty waved. "And we're gonna be making adventure vlo-"

Lightning closed the video, collapsing back on the hospital bed. "Unbelievable."

"I agree with you there," her dad said, sitting beside her in the all too familiar hospital room. "Some things definitely are."

~ 3 months later: Lightning's house ~

Lightning and her dad got out of the car at home, 3 months after her...most recent accident. She had spent the entire summer in the hospital, and still had a long recovery before she could get on with her life, but at least she could go back to school. However, it would be a couple years before she was completely back to normal.

She and her dad stepped inside, and she noticed things had actually changed this time. The couch wasn't there anymore, and her bed was instead, along with her posters.

Before she could ask, her dad explained. "So, I've decided to move your room downstairs temporarily, since you can't use stairs now and you...probably shouldn't ever again."

"Thanks," she said, sitting on the edge of her bed.

"Now, take it easy for a few weeks?" her dad said, sitting beside her.

"Don't have much of a choice," she sighed.

"Then when you're well enough, you can come over to the shop after school, and start working with me there," he said.

"Okay," she said, too tired to argue. She would be 19 the next year, falling way behind in her life plans...but it was going to happen someday. She would still achieve her dreams.
