"Bafo, I'm proud of you."
Nkosiyabo, my elder brother, says to me as we are getting ready for umabo and izibizo.
"Ngiyabonga bafo, and thank you all for your support."
I say to my brothers and male cousins, and they chant their answers back.
"Mvelo, I thought mina nawe we were going to be the mighty avengers and besi ngeke si shade." The crazy Melokuhle says.
"Wena, no bani Steve Rodgers the first avenger?"
The room erupts with laughter."He is called Captain America the first avenger and not.." Nkosi cuts him
"That's why you won't get married, wena you live the comic life and not the real one."
they all laugh at him.
"Ninga kwatisi u Spiderman ka auntie."
Sbu, our cousin, says, referring to kuhle as Spiderman.
"Mxm, uSpiderman.."
"You guys are discussing cartoons instead of getting ready kanti nizo khula nini."
Baba says, entering the bedroom, and we all stand up to greet him and my uncles.
"Bayede, bo Mageba." we chant
"Get moving, get moving! Spiderman and his Avengers. "
Baba shouts at us, making us hurry in getting ready."Haibo weLolo, why is umqhele wakho worn upside down?"
one of my uncles asks, and we laugh.
"Stop calling my son uLolo and nina na sineka ngubani o yenze ihlaya."
Baba says, defending Melokuhle, who smirks at us.
"Finish up nawe Spider-Man uyeke uku sineka."
he fires to ulolo, and we all laugh at him, I can't believe that I am doing this.Sobahle
"Wow, this palace really screams African royal deluxe."
Ro says mesmerized we just arrived at the Kwanongona Royal palace, I have never been here before I have only seen the palace on tv when news concerning the royal family are addressed and maybe saw a few photos from the internet and at Bukhosi's house this place is beautiful.
"You can say that again, Mma."
Tswana daughter-in-law in my sister wakes up as she responds to her husbands homie.
We are here for the traditional wedding and izibizo.I'm happy that the ceremony went well and all the things were done correctly. Mrs. here is now a Zulu bride officially, I can't wait to go back to the city and rest. The journalists came here yesterday and tried to invade a private ceremony but Bukhosi gave out instructions to his family members and the palace security that no journalist should enter the palace gates during the umabo ceremony, I'm glad that he stood by his word and indicated that the ceremony is private which means by invite only.
"Makoti, go and rest a little, your husband complained, saying abo aunty are making you overwork."
Senamile's mother says, entering the kitchen, as she finds me making tea for the elders.
"Imagine Mazulu they have been enslaving her the whole day. She made about 30 cups of tea for those 6 women today."
My mother in law says clearly pissed and I'm dog tired Bukhosi said I should come and rest when I went to serve him his food but those elderly women were busy giving me endless tasks and I'm glad that Senamile and her cousins have been very helpful to us, the other daughter-in-laws of the family left early today with their husbands and It's only Me, Bongi Nkosiyabo's wife and Zenande who is Cebolabo's wife the real daughter-in-laws to the ruling monarch.
"Go rest Bahle, we will give the tea addicts their fix." Bongi says, and we all laugh.
"Ok, thank you. Don't forget to give ugogo the scones and jam she asked for."
I say, and Senamile and her mother laugh.
"Wena, don't let those gogos bully you, futhi amascone aphelile for bona they won't be getting any scones not after they slaved us around."
Brave Zena says, taking the tea trey, and I walk out of the house."Have you eaten?"Bukhosi asks the moment I get into the house. He is busy on his Pc.
"Yes, I ate awhile back."
he nods and stares at me.
"The phinifa suits you." he says, smiling at me.
"Thank you."
I respond shyly while taking it off.
"Im going to shower and sleep. I'm so tired,"
"I'll ask them to bring our food in here and get some rest."
"Ok, thanks."
I say, taking my taking out my sleeping set
"And Sobahle, you will never be slaved around again. You are my wife, and I married you for me and not for my family, siyezwana?"
Haibo, I hope this man does not expect me to say no to his grandmothers and aunts.
"But.." he cuts me short
"No buts those people will bully you around if you don't have a backbone, next time I'll talk to them myself."
He says sternly, let me go soak my thick body in a hot bath.Bukhosi
"Bafo, those women bully our wives and everyone so much."
Cebolabo says pissed
"I will not let Sobahle play maid whenever we have something lana Kwanongona or anywhere. My wife slept the minute she climbed the bed."
"Muhleza was looking like a tomato yesterday, busy running around while wearing iphinifa." ULolo says, laughing
"That was the first and last time Sobahle gets slaved around lana ekhaya."
"Ha sekwa shada o Bukhosibomvelo njalo!" Nkosiyabo says, clapping his hands, and we all laugh.
