Sobahle
It's been almost a month since Bukhosi filed for the divorce and moved out of the house. I last saw him today morning when we met with our lawyers, he insists on giving me almost half of his properties and I don't want any of them, Bukhosibomvelo Zulu thinks I'm his charity case.
"Make, how are you today?"
I have not told my parents about the whole divorce saga, and I'm calling make to break the news to her."Ngi'right sisi wena unjani?"
"I'm not fine make."
I honestly confess to my mother.
"Kwente njani Sobahle?""Make Bukhosi and I are divorcing."
"Hau hau Sobahle, but you love that Zulu boy, my child.""Make everything is a mess and we are getting divorced, I will be home soon please don't tell Babe anything yet."
"Ok, tamatisi lami, you know that you are always welcome here. Come back home when you are done with everything, ok?""Yebo Ma, usale kahle."
"Ok, sisi."I have started to pack some of my things in boxes, and I will pack the rest after the divorce is finalized.
Sena thinks Bukhosibomvelo and I are just crazy and that this whole thing is a phase, but I don't think so anymore because her cousin brother is very serious about this whole divorce thing."Ngane yami, how are you today?" Maxulu, our helper, asks.
"I'm fine ma wena unjani?"
"I'm also fine. Would you like to have something different for breakfast?"
She asks, looking at the food in front of me, I make myself muesli, but I don't feel like it anymore.Maxulu has been there for me this past few weeks. Even though she does not ask any questions, she can see that something is wrong.
"No, ma, but thank you, I will make something different later on."
I say, wrapping the bowel of muesli and putting it inside the fridge."No, I will cook some sour porridge for you, Sobahle. You can't keep on not eating well like this it's not healthy."
Maxulu is right, but I'm not doing this on purpose, I can't stomach food these days because I'm stressed.
"Ok, thanks ma let me go lie down a little bit, and I will wake up and have your tasty sour porridge.""Alright, sisi, let me finish up here and cook the porridge for you."
I nod, and she smiles sweetly.I walk upstairs to the cold main bedroom and lie down on the bed, Bukhosibomvelo's scent is slowly fading away from the bedroom room and this house feels so lonely without him but then it is what it is few minutes later I drift to sleep.
"I was about to go and wake you up."
I laugh at Maxulu's comment.
"Haibo Ma, you were going to wake me up from my peaceful sleep to just eat.""Yebo, angithi, I told you that I'll be guarding you like a hawk since you are starving yourself these days."
"Habe Ma, I have been eating it's just that sometimes I forget because I'm very busy."
"Everything will be fine, ngane yami. Just pray and keep on trusting God."
"Ngiyabonga Ma." We go downstairs, and I have my sour porridge while Maxulu eats snacks."Haibo Hlehle ngane yami, why are you looking so pale, sisi?"
Mapholoba asks as soon as she walks in.
"Sawubona Ma, how are you?""I'm fine, you don't look fine, sisi."
"Hau Ma, I'm fine.""But Hlehle, you look so pale." She says, holding my face.
"I'm ok, maybe it's because I was stressed in the last past few days."
I say, assuring her with a smile."I just wanted to see you before I leave for Kwanongoma."
"Oh, thank you, Ma.""Will you be attending the anniversary?"
"Yes, ma, I will be there.""Ok ngane yami, I wish things can change yazi?" She says sadly
"Nami Ma, but don't worry, nothing will change between us."
"You are a good and beautiful woman, Sobahle."
"Thank you, ma."Mapholoba is very angry at her son for filing for divorce she says Bukhosibomvelo is afraid of commitments. I will forever be grateful to her for always being there for me whenever I need her.
