Duty
" Princess you must wake up." Visera just groaned and turned away. " Florence go away..." The princess whined and pulled the sheets over her head. She had never been the one to get up easily. " Princess you must get up or you will arrive late." but Visera only replied with a groan.Florence pulled the covers away, with a smirk. The cool air of the morning, waking the princess up. With a sigh she raised up, her hair a mess. " Are you happy?" The princess rolled her eyes but Florence only smirked. Turing away she chose the dress, the Queen had requested the princess wore.
Visera tried to lay back down, but Florence snapped her fingers. The princess rose from the bed with a groan and took a seat at her vanity. Where Florence began combing her hair. "Your mother has requested you wear green." Visera nodded still half asleep.
She pulled the brush through a knot, earning a yelp from the young princess. Well now she is fully awake. " sorry, princess." Florence quickly apologized. " I told you to call me by my name." Visera said looking at her through the mirror. Florence was her friend there was no need for such formalities, but she continued using them. Visera never knew why Florence refused, but she hated it.
She hated being called princess, other girls would do anything to be a princess. But it wasn't what people expected it to be, in a years time she would probably be forced to marry a old fat lord to strengthen connections, her father barely spoke to her, and she wasn't allowed to go anywhere. She has been in the held up in the castle walls, for as long as she could remember. Only allowed to leave on special occasion's.
"Princess?" Florence met Visera's eyes through the mirror. "Are you alright?" Visera didn't know how to answer, so she just nodded and smiled. What more could she do?
While she was in a daze Florence had finished her hair, a knot of braids sat on the crown of her head.
Florence knew something was bothering the red haired girl that sat infront of her, but she didn't want to bother her further so she remained silent.
Visera stood on a stool as Florence helped her into her dress. They both were silent the whole time, but it wasn't an uncomfortable silence. It never was with the two.
"the rest of the servant's are talking of who you will marry." Florence tried to cheer her up, but the frown that sat on the princess face told her she had only made it worse. " im sorry princess I didn't mean to upset you." The handmaiden said with a sigh, Visera quickly smiled at her. "Its alright Flor it must happen."
Florence knew her smile was fake, it wasn't as bright as it normally was. " I must go now, your family is waiting in the courtyard." with that Florence left the room, leaving the princess alone with her thoughts.
Visera was not ready to marry, she had no wish to. She wished to live in Kings Landing forever. She did not want to leave her home, her family, mostly she didn't want to leave Aemond. He had been the only one -other than Florence- that actually made her happy.
Visera had never been on a ship before, she was terrified. A million "what if's" ran through her mind. "what if it tipped over." " what if so much weight made it sink." and many more. Alicent tried to comfort her, but had failed.
" The ship is ready to board, your grace." Viseras eyes widen and look over to Aemond. He grabbed her hand and sent her a comforting smile. " you will be fine rose." Visera debated whether or not she should trust him but she nodded her head and joined the rest of her family. Still scared she stayed right by Aemond's side. Ser Gerald stood near by just in case some thing happened to the Princess.
The waves of the ocean made the ship sway, making Visera grip the side of the boat. Aemond laughed at the girl, earning looks from everyone. It was a rare thing to hear the prince laugh, but whenever he did it was always Visera that had made him laugh. " you are fine rose." Aemond said through laughter, Visera sent him a glare and continued to hold on.
Aegon had walked over to the two, to see what was so funny. " what are you laughing at?" Aemond quickly stopped, a frown replaced the smile. " nothing Aegon." He moved his gaze to the sea, as did Visera.
Aegon rolled his eyes, walking away. Aemond and Visera stayed silent, waiting for Aegon to be out of earshot.
" Aemond?" He hummed in reply his gaze still on the sea. " I do not want to marry." He turned his gaze back to his sister, who was looking at the boards beneath her feet. "What?"
Visera sighed " Aegon and Helena are betrothed that means I will be next." He grabbed the princess's hand, making her look at him. " I know rose, but it is your duty." She knew he was speaking the truth but she didn't want to leave him. " I don't want to leave you." A tear slipped down her face, the prince felt his heart break at the sight.
Aemond reached out to wipe the tear, his hand lingering for a moment. " I don't want you to either." He pulled her into a hug.
After they broke apart, they both went to the sitting space in the back of the ship. The princess went to sleep with her head on Aemond's leg.
From that moment on Aemond promise to do whatever he could to prevent her from a marriage.
