DriftmarkAemond shook Visera awake, they had arrived at the docks of DriftMark. Visera groaned but opened her eyes, the sun quickly blinding her. Another groan leaving the lips of the princess. Aemond chuckled at her childlike behavior. "we have arrived Visera." She rose from her spot, rubbing her eyes.
The Knights and servants rushed around the ship their chattering could barely be heard over the roaring of the waves, as they were preparing the Royal family's thing for the few nights they would spend on Drift Mark.
Aemond and Visera walked hand in hand to join their family who stood on the dock, awaiting their carriage. As they had a little ways to go before they actually reached the castle itself.
Moments after the prince and princess were stood by their family the carriage had pulled in front of them. Two servant rushed out placing a stool, and helping the King, Queen and the Hand into the carriage.
Aegon was the first to enter after their mother, Visera rolled her eyes at her brothers selfish behavior. Allowing Helena to enter before her, the sisters share a smile. Unlike their brother Aemond had manners and helped Visera into the tall carriage.
The ride was silent so far, other than the snorts of the horses and the waves crashing into the rocks. But the king had soon interrupted the silence looking to his second eldest daughter, with a smile. It wasn't a comforting smile.
" Visera you are aware of yours siblings betrothal?" Her head snapped towards her father, shocked he was talking to her. " yes, father." She knew where this conversation was going, each person in the carriage did. But she didn't wish to speak of it know, especially at the funeral of her dear cousin.
Visera exchanged a look with her mother and Aemond. " then you are aware you are of age to be accepting suitors?" The princess had looked to her hands in her lap. " yes father, but now is not the time to speak on such matters." Visera said hoping to stall this conversation as long as she could, but she knew it had to happen.
Viserys debated for a moment before sending her a nod the ride going back to silence.
Visera had watched from a small opening as they approached the castle of Drift Mark. The Velaryons stood in front of the stairs, where the carriage came to a halt. The two same servants rushed in to help the King, Queen, and Hand down from the carriage.
The Prince's and Princess's exit last watching as the they greeted the Velaryons. Visera had looked over at Rhaenys Targaryen/Velaryon "the Queen who never was" they called her, but Visera had believed her to be " the Queen who should have been." The Princess had heard the story of her birthright being took away from her just for her being a woman. Visera had viewed it as unfair, but during this time many things are unfair for women.
Visera had walked forwards greeting the princess. " princess, I am so sorry, though I did not know Leana I believe she to be a kind soul." Rhaenys had given her the best smile she could muster. " thank you for you kind words princess, welcome to Drift Mark." With that Visera moved down to Lord Corlys.
" my lord" Visera gave him a smile which he returned. " Princess" he said while bowing his head. Visera's eyes travel to the fortress behind the tall man. " it is a beautiful home you have, I hate to see it first on such bad circumstances." Corlys gave her a sad sigh. " as am I princess."
The Princess took a step back towards her mother and father, while her siblings greeting the grieving parents.
They had been the first to arrive as everyone was expected to show later that evening. Rhaenys and Corlys had a few servants show the children to their chambers for the next few nights. All were next to each other's. Aemond and Visera's were across the hall from each other's, as Helena and Aegon's were the same but farther down the hall.
But Visera knew herself and Aemond would spend most of their time in the small garden Drift Mark provided. Or in the comforts of her own chambers reading to one another or simply talking until the sun rose. As they did most nights.
The Funeral was meant to start within the next hour so Visera asked politely if a servant would redo her now messed up hair.
" what is you name, my friend." The servant girl looked up from her hair and through the mirror. " Alora, princess." She answered with a smile before continuing.
" how well did you know Leana, Alora." The princess asked the curiosity of her cousin she had never met filled her. " we grew up together Princess, Princess Rhaenys took me in at a young age after my servant mother passed from an illness." The servant sadly replied.
Regret and guilt clawed at her heart as she turned to look at the dark haired girl before her. " I am so sorry Alora, to bring such terrible thoughts back to your mind." The servant girl grabbed Visera's hand and sent her a smile. " it is quite alright, you could not have known."
Visera went to reply but a knock echoed through the room, a second later Aemond walked in amongst Ser Gerald Tyrell.
" brother, Ser what is it?" Visera turned back to the mirror as Alora continued to pin her braids up. " everyone is waiting, Princess. Daemon and his daughters have arrived as well as Rhaenyra, Laenor and their sons."
Just as Ser Gerald had finished so had Alora. Visera sent her a smile before excusing her.
" we shall go then" Visera spoke as she stood, Aemond and Ser Gerald both smiled as she interlocked her arm with Aemond's as they walked to where the funeral was being held.
