I walked into silence. Which was strange for Jax. Unless he was planning to-

"AAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHH" My thought process was interrupted by an attack screech from above me. I turned to see Jax jumping off the side of a dorm building at me.

I sighed audibly. Another one of his surprise attack attempts. He was cocooned in telekinesis energy, both to break his fall and strengthen his physical attack. I caught the leg that was meant to hurt me, but the sheer force pushed me into the ground, cracking it. I pushed him off, but he landed on his feet.

"Come on Kaizen, fight me for real." The psychic energy left his body and focused into a bright purple orb. He grabbed it, and I saw beads of sweat form on his head as he focused. The orb extended and molded into the shape of his weapon, a broadsword. The glow retreated into the center of the blade, but now it held Jaxon's psychic powers.

He shot himself at me, and swung his sword up towards my chest. I caught it in one hand, the used a blast of cold air to knock him away. I drove the blade into the ground, ending the battle. However, the blade began to shake, and it flew towards Jaxon. At the same time, he had telekinetically rocketed himself towards me. He was hoping to hit me with a high speed attack.

Instead, I slightly pushed my leg out, tripping him. Jax flew into a wall, his own momentum shattering it. At the same moment, I materialized an ice chain around his leg, the end of which was wrapped around my right wrist. I used it to swing him around and slam him into a wall, forming another crater. Finally, using the chain, I pulled him out of the crater and threw him into the air. After he reached a few hundred feet, I grabbed hold of the chain with my right hand, stopping it. Then, with my left hand, I grabbed the chain and pulled him down with enough force to create a giant hole where he landed. It took a few minutes for the dust to clear.

"I've warned you Jax. Don't challenge me."

"It.....was supposed....be....distraction" Jaxon told me, between wheezing breaths. I turned around, seeing a crowd where one of the craters I'd made by throwing Jax was. I saw a Happy Birthday banner. Was it really my birthday?

Looking between the crowd and my rather seriously injured best friend, I waved tentatively.
