Isla's POV
During our time apart I'd really missed Leah. It was strange, I missed the whole team but with her it was different. I suppose we live together so we have a much stronger bond. Anytime her name popped up on my phone a warm fuzzy feeling came over me. Friends even asked who was making me smile so much on the other end of my phone. I don't know why but I brushed it off saying it was the group chat.
She wasn't due home for a few hours so I kept myself busy doing a food shop and cleaning the house. I said I'd get a cleaner when I move to my new house but that's taking forever to be built, part of me is glad because once our houses are ready we won't be living together. I decided to pick up some flowers to brighten up the house; red and white roses both for Arsenal and England since their last game qualified them for the World Cup. Not my first choice of flowers but I knew Leah would like them.
I was putting the shopping away in the kitchen when I heard the front door open, that warm fuzzy feeling was back she was home. She nearly knocked me off my feet as she launched herself at me when I walked from the kitchen into the hallway. Her arms wrapped round my waist, mine around her back. We stood there with not a care in the world. Both back in our happy place. It was only Charlie running in from the garden that broke us apart.
"Hiya mate, you been a good boy for your mum?" I love that she chats to him like he'll answer her, cute.
"Le, I've booked us dinner for tonight. Thought we deserved it"
Her face lit up when I mentioned us going to her favourite restaurant. Although we spend so much time together I feel like we've not really had Leah & Isla time for a while. There's always been others around so I was excited for it to be just us.
We spent the afternoon catching up on the past week apart. Leah's conversation with Sophie, the drama with Man City not letting Kiera move to Barcelona. We laughed at Emile's not so subtle "are you single" message and how I still hadn't replied.
It had been a roasting hot day so I decided to keep it simple with a strapless summer dress and sandals. In typical Leah style, she wore some patterned shorts and a plain white cropped top with a pair of dunks. The restaurant had a private outdoor terrace so we took Charlie with us. The owners knew us well so they didn't mind. Although it was private we were well known around St Albans so we both kept our sunglasses on while we ate. Knowing we had training the next day we only had one glass of wine with dinner. We spent the entire meal laughing and joking, Leah spilled red wine on her top and I had herbs stuck in my teeth. To anyone else it would've looked chaotic but this was us. I'm sure we got some looks when we were leaving but as far as I could tell nobody had taken any photos so it was a successful night.
Leah drove us home via McDonalds so I could get a McFlurry. I was lost in my thoughts about how perfect tonight had been, Leah, Charlie and I. If I ever meet a man who treats me half as well as Leah does I'll be one lucky girl. As I was brushing my teeth that night my phone buzzed.

My one true love ❤️"ISLA!! You realise you've made it looks like I'm you're one true love, idiot" she laughed rolling her eyes as I got into bed.
"Awww Le, course you are" I said laying my head on her shoulder and closing my eyes.
I do love her, a lot. Since we've been living together we've become even closer which is something I didn't think was possible. I feel so lucky to have Leah as my best friend. It's crazy we have this connection that I've got with nobody else, I can't even describe it. We've always had this thing where we could find each other on the pitch, we always know where the other will be. Off the pitch we'd been friends since she moved to the senior team. When Alex (Scott) retired we were both missing our bestie and spent even more time together.
