Isla's POV
It's been a busy week since we played our first Champions League game of the season. A win against Spurs at the Emirates and we've just played Ajax again winning with a goal from Viv. We're on the bus back to the airport for the flight back to England. The usual loud ones are at the back of the bus, I'd been last on the bus so I'm stuck with them. Depending on my mood I'll either sit with them or closer to the middle where it's a bit more quiet. I wish I'd sat in the middle...
"What about you Isla?"
I was sitting with my back against the window and my legs stretched out reading an email about the upcoming international games when I was smacked on the head.
"BETH!"
"Answer us then!"
"What're you on about?"
"I asked what do you prefer..." Beth questioned before being cut off abruptly.
"Na, just ignore them. It's a shitty game anyway" Leah huffed, avoiding eye contact.
I quickly found out they'd been rating what was better for getting them off...fingers or tongue. I wasn't even shocked. I've always said there's nothing that could be said in a women's football team that would shock me. Periods, toilet habits, sex lives, nothing is off limits. So why did I feel like I was in the spotlight here? Just say something Isla.
"Easy! Fingers every time. Death by licking no thanks" Why did I answer this? No doubt this was Beth and Katie's conversation choice.
Leah's eyes were popping out her head. Katie had spat her drink over Beth and Jen. While Steph was laughing but nodding her head in agreement. After what felt like an interrogation, the conclusion was women were better with their tongues and the 'straight' girls (Steph and I) were missing out. Nobody knows what's been going on with Leah and I, to be honest neither do we so there's no point in telling anyone anything. Thankfully we'd reached the airport so I could escape the chat. A 2 hour flight with more questions was my idea of hell right now. As we were waiting to board I was sat with my AirPods in but heard Katie asking Leah if I was ok. Obviously sensing I'd hardly spoke since we left the bus. "Yeah mate, think she's just tired" I heard her say as she pulled me into her with her left arm.
The entire flight I slept, that's what the girls thought anyway. I spent the flight questioning the last few weeks. What is this with Leah? What do I want it to be? We've kissed a lot, got a bit handsy a few times but nothing else. Without a doubt if she was a guy we'd have slept together by now. So what's the difference? The thought of doing anything sexual with Leah terrifies me. Truth is I'm not even sure if it's just the fear of the unknown or if it's something else.
We'd said we'd take it slow but this is beyond that. Whenever hands start to roam there's always a distraction, one of us needs a drink or a pee, or the most ridiculous time was when I had to double check I'd locked the door. We both knew the door was locked but neither of us questioned it. One of us would climb back into bed placing a kiss on the others forehead or cheek and we'd go to sleep. Nothing would be said and we'd wake up the next day acting like nothing had nearly happened.
The drive back from the airport we were both quiet neither wanting to bring up the conversation from the bus earlier. Heading straight to bed without unpacking our bags. A decision I'd probably regret.
The next day was a recovery session so we were finished by lunch time giving Leah and I the afternoon to do whatever. Leah had wanted to go for lunch to a new restaurant that had opened so she was driving. I was distracted by my phone so didn't notice the signs we'd passed or where we were until we were parked.
